  • After sitting in the stands last weekend for both games. This is what I'm changing and doing to get myself back into the lineup for next day. Here is an inside look into FPHL life from our team meals in watertown, to practice, to my workouts in the gym. I do new vlogs every Sunday (sometimes Wednesdays too) at 10am eastern! :)

just like me, Trav...stay tall in your butterfly, you're a big guy and can take more of the net if you don't deep your hips, also drive your knees together, I can tell you haven't work on closing that five hole and widening your butterfly flair, you made such a hush out of your hip surgery and you have not taken advantage of it.

Great attitude Trav, stay positive. My son is in a similar situation in Junior. Healthy scratched frequently… sent him video of Tom Brady explaining his mental outlook when he was a lowly backup QB in High School, at Michigan in NCAA and his early days in New England. Said he’d only get about 2-4 reps per practice so he focused on making his reps the best he could. Was prepared, brought intensity, passion and fire in his chances. Soon teammates and coaches recognized this and his reps increased.
My son is doing the same in Timmins, bringing positivity and effort to practices and when he dresses he’s playing every shift he gets like it might be his last. Be the guys they simply cannot ignore, that’s the ticket!! Go Trav!!

Being overweight as an athlete will always be a problem that should not be considered a positive goal, being too thin is one thing but bench pressing 2 plates isnt going to win games as a goalie which is super obvious. You might want to spend more time doing explosive movements compared to liking the pumped up look in the mirror with the wife beater. This guy needs to prove he can play in this league as unfortunately he doesnt really have any game experience the past 5 years compared to the younger guys ahead of him. Anything can happen I guess but maybe try proving that you are a starting goalie on the ice and not just on UA-cam. Just my 2 cents.

"if you want to be successful you need to focus 100% of your energy to your goal" not sure who said it but I read it somewhere. And it almost seems like organizations wouldn't like a. the distraction to your teammates and b. The fuel you may be providing the opponents when you talk smack about them? Genuinely curious.

If goaltenders are vital to a teams success - and at every level they are! - why aren't some of the training sessions dedicated specifically to the needs of goalies? In my experience they are an afterthought, despite coaching manuals having a ton of drills and plays designed mainly to improve their game. It doesn't help either when the coach had never played in goal. Basically they - and "out-field" team-mates as well - are all largely ignorant of the physical, technical, psychological demands of keeping net. Put simply, it's a tough role. (I've always thought that normal players should don some goalie gear and play for ten minutes or so, just for the "insight" value.)

So, I'm morbidly curious: they're asking you to be up on the paint and active hands. Are you finding any contradiction in coaching/advice with the team compared to say what Pascal or other goalie coaches had been teaching you? Or is it something like they say "get higher on the paint" and you realize "Oh jeeze I guess I've been too deep in the crease, they noticed it when I didn't". Either way, I'm sure it's constructive criticism and they may be seeing things that need improvement, or want to make sure you're capable of altering your style/position to counter all the angles etc. Good luck at the next game
