Sir, you should be a millionaire! Your system is practical, safe and will put food for the family in the freezer. There are seemingly infinite, other systems out there. And it seems like they're superior. But said systems excell in some areas but NOT as many as yours. I'm closer to 50 than I am 40 years old. So I truly appreciate the fact that your system takes time and life into consideration.nthank you sir
Thanks for the kind comments. I can assure you I am rich - but not by the world's standards. A friend of mine is the inventor of the original Ol' Man Treestand. When I showed my Preacher's Seat to him he reminded me of the need to THINK SAFTEY! - May God bless you as you hunt in His great outdoors. Happy Hunting
Brother Tim, your Preacher’s Seat looks very comfortable and that makes hunting so much easier and enjoyable. Hopefully I can reproduce one to use in the 2023 deer season in NE Oklahoma. Thanks for the great video and the detailed information.
I'm sure you can. This system does away with hip pinch and the prop for the tree will give you much relief to your knees during a long sit. Good and safe hunting to you next season!
Sir, This is impressive. Would you also send me the pdf file showing drawing of your preacher's seat. I am an older hunter who would like to try it. Thank you.
Glad you are impressed. It's a real easy build. The pdf shows it made from two pieces, however, once I settled in on width of seat and length of the "T" rest - I just used one board and cut it in the shape of a "T". Here is a link that should take you to the file. If it doesn't work, sen me a good email and I'll email it to you. Blessings and safe hunting! drive.google.com/file/d/1iFqdPINaRXTwnfqwckIhnXylHoywuJvg/view?usp=drive_link
I'm very interested in your Preachers Seat system. Have used climbers, but like your setup. Can you let me know to get additional information? Thank you.
What additional information are you interested in? I have a pdf. file posted on saddle hunters.com that describes the stand itself. The climbing system is from Jerry Simmons Archery (Woodpecker Drill and climbing belt). I know the drill is no longer available through Simmons but the climbing belt is still available.
thank you for the response. I went to saddle hunters.com and searched for your post without success. I searched with your name and preachers seat. The PDF is what I wanted to review.
I've changed mine twice - both times broke the tip off. Once was not while hunting but while driving to the woods - my bag and belt fell out of jeep and hit the pavement and before I could get back to it another car had run over the bag. Not only broke the tip, but broke the buckle on my Simmons climbing belt as well.
Hi again Tim was having trouble with what I call the nose of seat lifting up to rest against tree. May not be right but I solved my problem without issues Thanks for offering to help be safe and good hunting may the LORD smile upon you
Certainly glad you figured out a solution. I just straighten my legs to get away from the tree, reach and grab the "nose" as you called it and pull upward on it until The harness levels out - then bend legs to swing back toward the tree . Once there - it becomes a very stable platform and offers opportunity to give your legs a break. BTW - I could not get a link to work for the PDF file yesterday here on UA-cam - but if you are on sadllehunter.com forum you can find it under the thread "Best Seat In The Woods".
@@timhubbard1873 Hi Tim, loved the video, what an awesome idea. Could you send me that PDF link of your design. I've been messing around with a sit drag/saddle ...your idea is Great, looks far more comfortable then what I'm playing with.
Haven't made any lately, but I did post my drawings on the saddle hunters forum. Real Simple to make. Back fatigue is not a real issue - but I do have a strap that I can attach to the grommets you see in the harness and run behind me to add support. if you want those drawings - leave me an email and i'll forward them to you.
I used 3/4' Birch - Painted it black and glued a seat cushion on to with 3m adhesive spray. The only thing different from the plans is that I did not make the stem of the "T" adjustable.
I have honestly never weighed it - weighed so much less than the 25 lbs AMAKER climber I was hunting with before coming up with this. I would guess seat/straps/cushion/etc. less than five lbs.
Thanks! What type of rope did you use for your tether that you used the timber hitch on? and BTW I think the use of the u bolts for a bow holder is brilliant! I love tinkering and pittIing but I will stop bothering you now. :-) Thanks again!
IT was a rope I got at an Army surplus store. But any climbing rope with a safety weight rating can be used with the timber hitch. It's just quick and I liked the fact that tree size didn't matter as Long as I had enough length to tie the knot. Not a bother at all! Send me a photo when you get yours done.
Awesome! I got the wood, u bolts, and stadium seat cushion to glue on the seat (along with my father in laws jig saw and sander) at lunch. I'll keep you posted! :-)
I also found a safety rope in the woods during squirrel season...it looks like it is in good shape. I guess someone dropped on their way out. I may use it for some of the rigging.
Colby Kittle thanks for your safety concern. I've used the timber hitch for many years but am using the second tether that I demonstrated in the video. Safety has always been a concern of mine for sure! Happy Hunting to you.

Dr Warren shperard made something like that seen it on a video with Jerry Simmons on it
That sounds right!

I've changed mine twice - both times broke the tip off. Really cool stand....Been saddle hunting going into my 3rd season. You making those for folks who would pay your for one?

I did a search on saddle hunter (I am noxninja by the way) and found the plans. What size and type plywood should I use?

In Pennsylvania, you cant damage trees in any way so no drilling holes in trees.
I'll keep that in mind if I ever choose to hunt in Pennsylvania - Thanks.
You selling these sir
Don't sell them - I have put a pdf file on the saddlehunter.com forum. Not difficult to make.
Thank u
Do you have the measurements for this
I do have a pdf file that gives some dimensions. I’m in the woods right now but will see if I can get them to you tonight.
I posted the PDF file o Saddle Hunter Forum several years ago - if you cannot find it there leave me an email address and I'll send to you.
How much does this weigh
I have honestly never weighed it - weighed so much less than the 25 lbs AMAKER climber I was hunting with before coming up with this. I would guess seat/straps/cushion/etc. less than five lbs.
Neat
so how long is the stem?
Best I recall about 11"' - You could start longer and cut it off incrementally until you find what feels best to you.
Thanks! What type of rope did you use for your tether that you used the timber hitch on? and BTW I think the use of the u bolts for a bow holder is brilliant!

I hope those at JX3 Outdoors are sending you some $$$ for copying your design and marketing it!
DIY Don, No $$$ yet!
I thought jx3 copied Guido's web
Don’t secure yourself with a timber hitch..... just asking to be paralyzed
Colby Kittle thanks for your safety concern. I've used the timber hitch for many years but am using the second tether that I demonstrated in the video. Safety has always been a concern of mine for sure! Happy Hunting to you.
Too big and too heavy.
