I'm about 1/3rd through the book and it's awesome. It's the first book I've read in about 10 years. I like to think of this book as a nomadic encyclopedia. It's informational but also personal moments as well. Thank you 😊

The "Baby on the Spoon" was created back in the 50's and 60's. You bought a metal (not plastic) baby spoon for your kid. I was fed with one of those spoons.
I love how you found your land with landscape and weather you wanted. After that likeminded people followed and now you have your tribe!! So happy for you.
For your next tall bed, put some branches/sticks in the bottom and a layer of leaves or some other mulch and THEN put soil on top. That way you don't have to worry about filling the bed with so much soil! :)

Don't compare yourself to others,you've done a cracking job on the planting box,yours looks more real and achievable,i like the rustic look so much nicer,and anyway you are badass at everything you do,you're building a house!!!and you are great to watch too,i find some of the others annoying with their rubbish camera angles and constant singing,ill watch you,Barron,Kamp and Pilot anytime. Look how Pilot has grown.😊

Maybe hardware cloth placed in the inside/bottom of the planter box and a bit up the sides before adding soil? Might keep critters from digging into your planter from under it and eating all your plants!

Now I am reading it again with more intention to pull out the things I would find very useful in the event that the grid goes out. I'll never be a "Nomad," but it is so jam-packed with useful information that anyone could use for different things. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I ADORE following your guy's journey--thank you for sharing what you do! A quick question for you: Have you heard of waffle gardening? If not, you might want to look into it as it's what some tribes used in the desert where there was little water. Oh, a quick note--cilantro is a cool weather crop and bolts in hot temps. You might want to find a place that gets shade most of the day. :) (having made this mistake I'd hate to see your cilantro suffer the same fate!) Also, congrats on getting that window in! I nearly reached through my computer when I saw it fall forward! lol!
A friend of mine put a few pieces of chain link fence up for the black berries and raspberries and other berries to climb on in sections it tripled his yield and it looked really nice You can also use wood lattice to save money the principal is the same. I use lattice for my tomatoes, They turned out amazing
My grandmother was born in Durango in 1898. She lived in Silverton until she was 4. Her mother passed and her father brought her and her little brother back to Ohio. My great grandfather and great grandmother are buried in Silverton. It is on my bucket list to visit this special place. I love seeing video of the two towns. 💖

Just wanted to say that I’ve been a huge fan since back with the good ole biolite stove. I’ve been here since pretty much the very beginning. I’ve ordered numerous stickers because I’m always finding something that one of your stickers will fit perfectly on, I’m waiting to order one of your beautiful rings also. I pre ordered Barrons book and received it Saturday around 2ish. Well it was finished that night even with bottle feeding 2 sets of orphaned kittens that are different ages so they need care at different times. Excellent content!!! Not going to lie, when I received my book in the mail, I was wondering what could this be. When I saw it was from Else Rhea, I got a bit giddy. Barron I am so excited to jump into this book and learn.
I have be advised to line the base of your raised garden beds with hardware cloth, per Stacy & Doug, to keep critters from digging under and eating the roots of your veggies. However, looks like your beds are sitting on sheer rock!
I got mine and love it! I was gonna make myself wait til I finished the other book(s) I'm reading but...I could not. It's exactly what y'all said it would be.
Barron does have a nice voice. He could totally read bed time stories on here if everything else falls through 😂

Good will should be cheaper ...that get all the stuff for free.......I stopped going to ours. I go to local thrift shops instead

ps fill up your garden containers 1/4 or 1/2 with cut brush & wood to decompose and saves on putting so much soil in the container.

After you install the window put a big x with blue tape on it. That way folks won't think it's open and throw something thru it.
