When in California we rented a Jeep to get us around at KOH (King Of The Hammers). Being that we flew out we did not have any air down tools with us so we decided to see what the cheapest option was for us since we already had these tools back home. We ended up stumbling on what might be one of the easiest and most importantly the quickest option out there. While you can walk in and buy these from most parts stores the above link is to a similar tool that will also solve the issue Keri talks about at the end of this video.

Beats using a stick or a pen!
These are great, I've used them a lot. They are simple and easy. These and a decent air pressure gauge are prefectly good for most, even though they need a little more attention than the automatic ones.
The only thing about doing it this way is the tire sensors in most vehicles will lag behind. By the time the PSI number gets to the dash, the actual tire is many PSI below what it reads. And, they may not send a new number when not moving. The Jeep may be better, but I've had this trouble with my Tahoe.

Good point on wanting to pull these off a few lbs before the number you want. Example: if aiming for 20 psi pull the deflator around 22-24 psi and give the dash reading a minute to tell you what you're really at.
