In the past, companies/studios after financial failures actually tended to apologize and promise to do better next time. Or at least they stayed silent, making sure that things didn't get worse by saying something they shouldn't. Because they actually remembered that clients are the ones that decide if you succeed or not. But these days this 'victim mentality' where they blame everyone, but not themselves is their go-to strategy. It's pathetic really.

My professor, back in 2015 told us all, "if you cant take criticism, then this field isnt for you." And after all these years, it stayed with me. Then, in 2020, i did my next program and i noticed a massive decline in the personalities" of the students. All they did was act like these studios and journalists. Complain. They couldnt take any form of feedback or criticism of any kind. I remember one getting mad on our class discord because thr teacher MISGENDERED THIER CHARACTER. Apparently, this change was driven by corporate decisions and the influence of Will Smith's portrayal of Deadshot in the Suicide Squad movie. It seems like they wanted to align the character with the actor's race. And then they tried to justify this change by claiming that the Deadshot we encountered in the previous Arkham games wasn't the real Deadshot. Now, that raises a whole bunch of questions. If Batman had already encountered the original Deadshot, how could he be fooled by an imposter? It just doesn't add up and once again exposes a glaring lack of attention to detail and disregard for the established lore. Most troubling of all is the absence of any mention of the Justice League in the Arkham games, which serves as a glaring plot hole in this game. Throughout the Arkham series, the existence of the Justice League as a united force is never acknowledged. Remember when the first trailer of the Sonic movie came out and people rioted against the Hedgehog first design ? What did the producing studios do ? Listened to the audience/fans and changed it to be more accurate. Results : fans happily came to see the movie to the point we got a sequel and even a third one in the making. So, yes, if you want to play by your own rules, that's fine but don't complain if it doesn't meet the success you hoped for.

Indie games are nowhere near close to taking over. The majority of indie games use the same 5 niche genres very few go beyond the success of even a mediocre triple A game. There seems to be something very strange going on with the Steam reviews for this game. Despite how it's being trashed harder than TLoU2, it's somehow sitting at an 85% (Very Positive) rating. There are claims that there were over 7k reviews before Feb 2nd, and then now it's down to 1.7k, so now people are levelling accusations that criticisms are being deleted. And tellingly, the best received reviews are the negative ones while the "positive" reviews aren't really given a second glance.
I wonder why they might have updated reviews that were made before the actual release date for the game. I mean clearly there are currently reviews right now of people saying they are deleting reviews. If they were actually deleting them, why would they let THOSE stay?
It's pretty typical for steam reviews sadly. The publisher has control over the steam page and can freely delete reviews. It happens on every game that flops over. After a while they'll give up and the negative reviews will stick. The steam fourms for the game are also heavly controlled with a lot of shills trying to point out the "positive reviews". Won't help them in the long run.
This game failure is their own lack of professionalism. The game is a broken mess, period. Broken dialogs, broken audio, broken graphics. Everything is poorly done! This has to be the laziest game I have ever seen in this entire decade (along with Saints Row reboot). Live service, always online, micro-transactions, and Sweet Baby Inc. Tell me how is that not a recipe for disaster? Ignoring your own mistakes won't help your cause.

theres a great interview from Frank Zappa talking about how the music industry in the 60s was full of "cigar chomping old guys" who didnt really know what they were producing, and instead just sent out whatever it seemed like the artists wanted to make, and in exchanged filled the 60s with experimental music styles still so influential today. however in the 80s, when the interview was recorded, he talks about how the industry is now full of younger guys who think they're hip and know what the people want when in reality theyre far more conservative and damaging to the art form than the old guys ever were. not wanting to write paragraphs here, but i feel that the state of the modern gaming industry is going down much the same path since the confused executives back in the 2000s, who were happy to send out experimental and edgy ideas like the original Batman Arkham trilogy, as well as much more, but now that same industry is dominated by social media managers and statisticians who believe that "according to engagement and trending topics over social media and purchasing history i can infer the vast majority of gamers would purchase this product" and are completely unwilling to make any real changes because they believe they know what the people want.

They teach live service in college. Usually it's in the sense of live service apps/programs which makes sense because they are tools. It doesn't make as much sense for a game. It would be like releasing a tv show, but instead of streaming a new episode every week you release 5 minutes of an episode every month in patches and a full new episode half a year later with bigger patches. They do already want games to be movies, why not tv shows too.

As a kid and now an adult i never cared about the race of the game developers. I just truly enjoyed the arkham games and was excited for them to make more. It just sucks that its no longer about making good games anymore.

The most ironic thing is that indie games are where true equality thrives, no ones playing indie games to fanboy, the devs don't have the baggage or expectations of big studios and they cant rest on their laurels or afford to be lazy, its just a almost pure blind environment where you're almost always getting something unique and creative most of the time except for the obvious lookalikes and creepy weeb waifu interactive story stuff anyway.
We really live in a world where people are hired not for their actual skill and talent but because it checks a mark on a box and makes a group of people who 90% of the time don't even consume the media in question happy. Look there is a way to go about representation that doesn't absolutely tear down the legacy of beloved characters and series, but a lot of these companies nowadays just go about it so fucking wrong, making characters insufferable and frankly looking the ground they're trying to appease look worse in the process. Was looking at steam reviews earlier to see what people thought about it on there. I was very surprised when I found out that the recent reviews were all very positive. Looked at the top review and it said that apparently theyve been deleting negative reviews. Very funny. Steam also shows me a pop up ad for the game as soon as I do almost anything. Looks like they are extremely desperate at this point to me. Keep fighting the good fight.

Apparently, this change was driven by corporate decisions and the influence of Will Smith's portrayal of Deadshot in the Suicide Squad movie. It seems like they wanted to align the character with the actor's race. And then they tried to justify this change by claiming that the Deadshot we encountered in the previous Arkham games wasn't the real Deadshot. Now, that raises a whole bunch of questions. If Batman had already encountered the original Deadshot, how could he be fooled by an imposter? It just doesn't add up and once again exposes a glaring lack of attention to detail and disregard for the established lore.
Most troubling of all is the absence of any mention of the Justice League in the Arkham games, which serves as a glaring plot hole in this game. Throughout the Arkham series, the existence of the Justice League as a united force is never acknowledged. This creates a significant disconnect, as the entire premise of the game revolves around the Suicide Squad taking on the Justice League. How can such a conflict occur in a universe where the Justice League was never established? The lack of continuity demonstrates a blatant disregard for the established lore and dismisses the intricate world-building that fans have come to appreciate.
In conclusion, SSKTJL attempts to masquerade as a canon addition to the Arkham series, but its pretense crumbles under scrutiny. There seems to be something very strange going on with the Steam reviews for this game. Despite how it's being trashed harder than TLoU2, it's somehow sitting at an 85% (Very Positive) rating. There are claims that there were over 7k reviews before Feb 2nd, and then now it's down to 1.7k, so now people are levelling accusations that criticisms are being deleted. And tellingly, the best received reviews are the negative ones while the "positive" reviews aren't really given a second glance.

I wonder why they might have updated reviews that were made before the actual release date for the game. I mean clearly there are currently reviews right now of people saying they are deleting reviews. If they were actually deleting them, why would they let THOSE stay?
It's pretty typical for steam reviews sadly. The publisher has control over the steam page and can freely delete reviews. It happens on every game that flops over. After a while they'll give up and the negative reviews will stick. The steam fourms for the game are also heavly controlled with a lot of shills trying to point out the "positive reviews".

They teach live service in college. Usually it's in the sense of live service apps/programs which makes sense because they are tools. It doesn't make as much sense for a game. It would be like releasing a tv show, but instead of streaming a new episode every week you release 5 minutes of an episode every month in patches and a full new episode half a year later with bigger patches. They do already want games to be movies, why not tv shows too.

We really live in a world where people are hired not for their actual skill and talent but because it checks a mark on a box and makes a group of people who 90% of the time don't even consume the media in question happy. Look there is a way to go about representation that doesn't absolutely tear down the legacy of beloved characters and series, but a lot of these companies nowadays just go about it so fucking wrong, making characters insufferable and frankly looking the ground they're trying to appease look worse in the process. It's a lose-lose scenario for everyone involved.
I dont know why they haven't realized that when it comes to video games, males tend to be their core audiences, so when you make a game that does everything to crap on your core audience, and in favor of the women you want to prop up you see that you lose money.

Was looking at steam reviews earlier to see what people thought about it on there. I was very surprised when I found out that the recent reviews were all very positive. Looked at the top review and it said that apparently theyve been deleting negative reviews. Very funny. Steam also shows me a pop up ad for the game as soon as I do almost anything. Looks like they are extremely desperate at this point to me. Keep fighting the good fight.
