EXPANSION and so they did and a lot of peopleblame on them and turn the bacs on them, but they was right.
As a musician myself, I agree entirely that they did what they wanted to do artistically and that's their decision. But, if in a similar situation, I feel that as an artist, my mentality has always been to GO FURTHER. They were at an all time high, and from what I heard in the rest of this video? They were just slacking and had to make music last minute. That's crazy, dude. I'm all about enjoying the spoils of victory, but that's pretty extreme when they had a contract riding on it haha. Yeah, but years later they don't look back on this era so fondly. James has said it felt like the "U2 version of the band." He said he hated playing Lallapollozza(or how ever it's spelled), and the only thing he liked about was that it felt good to be hated again. James said he hated the image change and that if Cliff had been alive he would have had an ally in the band, and that Cliff wouldn't have liked the image change. James went so far as ripping the band photos out of his copy of the CD. Jason walked out of the meeting when they showed the album cover for Load, and Jason to this day says his favorite era of Metallica was the Ride the Lighting era, and that he had to learn to become a fan of the band again. Kirk even said "We went to far with the image change." This is a press interview so of course they're going to be positive about the albums, but the reality is James, and Jason weren't as happy about a lot of the changes to the music, and image as they let on. James even had to say about the St. Anger album that at least it was angry again. Watching James play live now he seems happier than he has playing live in a long time. They're back to playing metal and I think that's where his heart is.
I remember James being pumped as hell in a 1996 interview, and in recent decades it seems like he's kinda disowning Load and Reload, even saying 'ya I wasn't really in charge of the writing that was more Lars and Kirk'. Kinda sad

Jason leaving the band shocked the system and facilitated a road of self-introspection, awareness, and improvement by everyone in the band... especially James He confronted his demons/addictions, his past, and developed into a much better person over time, he became way more humble and appreciative of everything, he was "reborn again" as he once said Rob was very, very lucky he walked into Metallica when he did, James was a new man and determined not to make the same mistakes as he did with Jason, Lars was less of a prick also, the whole band was closer and tighter
Load and Reload were 2 OK albums that could have been edited down to one really good record if they just cut out the filler and got down to the nitty gritty.

@The Quintessential
That's just cuz you are a dumb fuck. Tattoos are completely disrespectful to the body!!!
I'm so glad they didn't come to any of the aftershocks music festivals here in Northern California LOL
What sunglasses is James wearing?
JASON CURTIS NEWSTED
04 DE MARZO DE 1963
59 AÑOS
James has completely changed as a man. Lars hasnt changed a bit lol
True. James has evolved in many ways
Jason leaving the band shocked the system and facilitated a road of self-introspection, awareness, and improvement by everyone in the band... especially James
He confronted his demons/addictions, his past, and developed into a much better person over time, he became way more humble and appreciative of everything, he was "reborn again" as he once said
Rob was very, very lucky he walked into Metallica when he did, James was a new man and determined not to make the same mistakes as he did with Jason, Lars was less of a prick also, the whole band was closer and tighter
Hey guys looking so forward to Little Rock event heat it up"Het"
Lars’ flashy gold days.
Jason looks like Egon from Ghostbusters

12:33 Fish tank and Lenny. Prince Charming and Attitude?
Yeah man. I think Fuel, Prince Charming and Attitude sounds like a mix of Motorhead and Guns N Roses.
LARS ULRICH

58 AÑOS (59)
Load and Reload were 2 OK albums that could have been edited down to one really good record if they just cut out the filler and got down to the nitty gritty.
i'm not a sequence expert but something like
1. Fuel
2. The Memory Remains
3. Wasting My Hate
4. Until It Sleeps
5. King Nothing
6. Bleeding Me
7. Carpe Diem Baby
8. Where The Wild Things Are
9. Devil's Dance
10. Unforgiven II
11. Outlaw Torn
@@penoyer79 ill cheers to that.
@@penoyer79No House that Jack built? For shame! 😊
I miss VHS!!!
I feel like Insomnium would be a great fit for orchestra collab......
Fuckin Unforgiven, man.
You called it "Reload." Are you surprised?
THEY WERE ABOUT TO COME TO INDIA IN 1997 ? FAAAAAACK !
which minute does that come? :o
What in the fuck is going on with Het. Dude looks like a cyborg from the futuree with those sunglasses. He keeps turning his headLike he’s trying to imitate a real human.s movements. And he’s short circuiting. Didn’t think he could get more badass than he already was but being a cyborg Just solidifies he’s the coolest dude ever
I love you METALLICA!
I LOVE YOU HETFIELD frontman perfect i love you ❤
Metallica is and has always been to good to just be a thrash metal band.
WHERE IS KIRK ?
he lost his phone...again ;)
Whammin' around
Finding hus dignity he lost during the black album
Joshan Sharma doing coke
On the enterprise.
to me not like a double album i dont like Load but i love ReLoad
James was right, the black album was Metallica at there peak, but load n Reload are great. Would have been better as a double album I rek. Like the beatles white album. The laat two albums are good but not solid like the others. St anger is pure shit haha.
Gimme fu
gimme fa
gimme thabahabazah
7:40 somebody knows what button lars is talking about? Or he's just joking?
I think he's just messing around... basically if you don't like Load, blame it on this knob ;)
Thx 4 answer! I really like load :P
It's the mid range tone control.
Egor Prokopenko - Yea, he's just being cynical as always, man. - Lars doesn't care about all the bullshit criticism, so he just goofs it off. Like someone else said, he's just kidding around and saying "Here, blame this button.". - Meaning, you might as well, because no whining or complaining is going to change anything.
I can tell you that this button (or knob) is part of an SSL channel-strip, and that's likely the frequency-selector of the mid-range... Which doesn't mean anything for their style or sound...
murilo ninj - I shall remember that next time I'm listening to one of their albums that sold millions hahahaha. Nice job being a sheep and just bashing for no reason other than you heard someone else doing it.
Load re-load so a great shit from metallica .master master please ride the ... justice...kill em ...thats sound.
Stumbled upon this be accident. God, did they ever lose the plot. I need some Live Metal UYA to antidote
Hey
Sorry but i don't believe that the albums were split purely by which songs were ready, Load is FAR stronger. Reload sounds like the songs that didn't quite make the first cut
Bullshit! Both albums are great!
@@MrParkerman6 Nah, I would definitely say Load is stronger than ReLoad. Releoad never quite reaches the heights of something like Bleeding Me or The Outlaw Torn, at least in my opinion.
@@RejectedRecords1998 Fixxxer is in that category imo
@@guitaristshawn Yeah absolutely. 👍
I love both but I do agree that load is a stronger album. But I do find 2 or 3 songs from each album to be pretty boring (Poor Twisted Me, Ronnie, Better Than You, Slither, Prince Charming).
Too bad Lars didn't apply that 1:00 minute statement to his drumming. snare snare crash
Dude teen wolf two was great except that stiles recast.....I mean it was two different people
I remember when we were listening for the new Metallica album to come out after five or six years or something like that and I was at work and we heard until it sleeps or something like that and I saw the expression on my co-workers faces and everybody just started laughing
Until it sleeps is about James's parents dying of Cancer you insensitive Pricks!!!!!
