I was at this performance at the Apollo. This was my introduction to Mr. Ali Woodson & I fell in love. I ran out & bought this For Lovers Only album & it's the best. Ali is truly missed. What a beautiful voice & man.
Ali-Ollie and Theo sharing lead together - they were a perfect package for the Temps between 1993-1996. Unfortunately, it'll never be the same: Theo is doing his solo thing (he recently left the 4 Tops) and we all knew what happened to Ali-Ollie

Yes, Melvin had just recently passed. I believe they toured for a year with out him after. Maybe they did that out of respect. I had seen them in Dec 95 and he had just recently passed then because Otis mentioned it at the concert. For awhile while he was sick they had Ray Davis taking his place. Ray has passed a few years ago. The replacement in 96 was Harry McGilbry who ALSO has passed shortly after he quit the group. Now they have Joe Herndon who is great!
I love their rendition of this song. Ali-Ollie and Theo's leads are wonderful and the harmonies are great. I know they are missing the fifth voice here but the song still sounds really good.
Lionel Pope He did sang an interlude and “Life Is But A Dream” on the “For Lovers Only” album before he passed away. Ray Davis replaced him, and sang on the rest of the album. Ray had to leave before it was released because he was diagnosed with throat cancer.

Amen! They were like a throwback to the Classic Five! Especially during that very brief time that McGilberry performed with Ollie and Theo. The had the look and the sound. I consider Williams/Tyson/Woodson/McGilberry/Peoples to be the last truly great Tempts line-up. Henderson and Cameron were good, but unfortunately Williamson and Herndon just don't cut it for me.
This was a good line up. Not sure if Blue had passed already, but I know the Bass Sing from Parliament hadn't joined yet. The added a vocal strength to the lineup.

@opinionated99 Yes, as of today, "The Duke" is still performing with 4 Tops. Theo was replaced by Harold "Spike" Bonert (formerly of Spinners). Spike's a good singer, but his range is lower - he's nothing like Theo.

It is not the same and never will be. If they could combine some of the guys who left back with Otis maybe we could have some kind of a remenicent group. I love Dennis Edwards group The Temptations review. Sometimes I will we could have Dennis Edwards, Paul Williams Jr., Otis Williams, Joe Herndon and then take your pic Damon Harris, Glen Lennard, Ron Tyson. Then there might be a glimmer of old. If you want to be historically accurate then add Richard Street at your own risk.

Not one out of the 2 temptations went to Ali Ollie Woodson's funeral.
Levi Stubbs the other 3, four tops went to his funeral to me that says so much.
