Note that for all of Gabiru's flaws he was still insistant on protecting the more vulnerable goblins, even if it cost his Lizardmen their lives. He's a good person beneath the inflated sense of self-importance and bravado.

His use of the word "ikemen" more likely than not probably stems from his, uh, computer hobbies, which is generally used for hot males in certain games of the adult flavor (think back to the Hot Elf Memory from his computer).
What Rimuru was telling Geld by saying "I'll eat your sins, too" is that he would look after his people. That his sins wouldn't carry over to his people. He was telling him that his people would live in peace, instead of being i constant jeopardy. It was a good thing.

It happens much, much further down the line. At a certain point Veldora, because his memories are stored inside Rimuru, becomes essentially immortal as long as Rimuru is alive, as he can transfer his consciousness into one of Rimuru's clones and even if that clone is destroyed his memories are still inside Rimuru. Meaning Rimuru can basically summon Veldora at will. I don't remember if he can summon multiple clones or not though.

Based on the light novel, Rimuri can't actually use any powers of Veldora. He can summon Veldora, like one comment said, but he doesn't use the dragonic powers for himself.

@@robmoney4life It's sort of like a 25 cent Gatcha ball. Veldora is the dragon shaped toy, and the gatcha container is shaped like a ball. Rimuru has a ball shaped object in his pocket, and once he's finished analyzing it, he can open it to have a dragon shaped object in his inventory, and let it out or consume it if he chooses. And since his inventory is basically a separate pocket dimension, it doesn't matter how big and strong Veldora is, he is already inside Rimuru and will be at his mercy once the barrier is dispelled, only trusting that Rimuru will free him instead of eating him.
Also, he _very technically_ needed Veldora’s permission to eat him (or the cell with him in it, however it’s phrased) so easily. Were he trying the way he did with Geld (by force, and without consent) it woulda been a problem.

My favourite part of the dub is after Ranga uses Death Storm and hes yelling like: “See! This is a fraction of the power we possess! Hahaha!” and Gobta’s like “Ranga, there’s nobody there.” and Ranga just goes “Exactly!” it’s so good
I actually got mad respects for Gabiru on this episode. He knew that they can escape if it's just them, but he opted to stand his ground for the goblins he recruited.

Ok so! Real quick. The "devouring" battle between Geld and Rimuru was severely shortened. Not only that, but it was originally a case of talk no jutsu. Geld was winning and only let Rimuru win after he was convinced by Rimuru.
More like balanced, they were devouring each other throughout the day. The anime tried to show it with the weird green stuff burning the slime but kind of failed in that regard. But yeah, he can't eat someone that is stronger than him, that is why while he eat Veldoras prison he didn't eat Veldora.
Incorrect! Geld could only delay being defeated so long as he had Orc troops under the control of his Starved Unique Skill. Eventually, it would have been down to Geld as the sole surviving Orc, but then Geld would have lost his purpose, his reason for fighting. Once Rimuru promised to take care of the Orcs in his stead, Geld saw that Rimuru would be an even better leader than Geld himself would be, turned off his regeneration, and surrendered to death.
So now that the orcs arent under the curse, does that make them... "Cured Pork"? HAHA

The predator ability is his most cracked skill, if all his attacks are ineffective he can just eat the enemy.
Not....quite. A powerful enough enemy can cause Predator to fail. If anything, I'd say Great Sage has an edge, as without that, he wouldn't actually be able to make proper use out of all the skills he's acquired through Predator (note how Geld, as an Orc Lord, had a massive number of skills, but couldn't properly use them, and in fact, barely even function until his evolution because of it). Not to mention, it was Great Sage which optimized all his random, cluttered skills with Deviant to 'clean things up' and make them stronger to boot. Honestly, what makes him truly OP is the combination of all three Unique Skills he's acquired since his rebirth, the first two from the start, and the last from Shizu.

FunFact: Rimuru is actually weaker then the hakuru. This is due to him having 0 battle techniques. So even the kijin were incredibly surprised when Rimuru showed off great battle skills due to the auto battle
Rimuru isn't weaker than Hakuro, he's way less skilled. He said if he and hakuru fight *without skills* he'd lose. With skills though no contest. String attacks, flight, elemental magic, self healing, afaik immunity to physical attacks, pretty good speed, clones, poison, water cutter, etc etc (he's got dozens of these). Hakurous cool and all but it's not a contest really. Maybe Hakuro after later evolution vs Rimuru as he is now without great sage would be a good fight.

The key to having good OP characters is *in the character*. If they're boring, then it's going to be awful. If you make them interesting or unique, it makes it much more fun to watch. Gojo's a good example, along with Rimuru. Escanor from Seven Deadly Sins is another (honestly, most of the Deadly Sins are OP and fun to watch). If the anime/manga is good, the OP characters probably will be, too.
I think another aspect is that with OP characters you have to have another element to it. Something besides just the fights. Weather that be the Characters personality or a twist on the series. In this one I think it is more the fact that the combat makes up a rather small amount of anime. Its more about Rimiru as a manager and comander creating his own city. The Choices he makes as leader are more impactful than the actual battles.

They made this fight appear easier than in the novel. Originally, Geld was actually getting powerful to the point that Great Sage was calculating that Rimuru was going to lose the fight if he kept fighting like normal. The eating contest mode lasted like an entire day in the novel and was implied that it would have taken _FAR_ longer if Geld didn't give up because Rimuru promised to "devour their sins" and look after the rest of the Orcs. Rimuru legit barely won the fight and if they had come even slightly later when Geld was slightly stronger Rimuru might have been the one that ended up being devoured

A HUGE thing I think a lot of people do not get about this series and Rimiru.... Rimiru is not some lone adventurer or leader of a party like in most anime. he is a ruler. He is a Manager of his assets. He was over seeing the military operation from above. ensuring it started and proceeded well. A big part of the series and Honestly the thing that took him so far was not completely his broken powers. but his experience in handling subordinates and making calls to further the goals of the organization. Laying out plans. Ensuring those plans are followed. Assessing assets and determining needs as well as the best way for fulfill those needs. Basically he is operating like a morally good business man or CEO on growing his organization. Yeah he has massive power and has grown really strong. But he also recruited talent. Made that talent grow. Promoted people into positions that used and nurtured the talents. And made it so the day to day running of his town/city was taken care of. I think this is one of my fav things about this series. In these episodes he is a military comander. In others he is a Nice laid back manager gowning his company.

rimuru easily ate veldora because veldora allowed him to, whereas geld was resisting to it while using Starved to eat rimuru. so eating geld was harder than eating veldora.
@dadolf indeed. rimuru has the ability to eat anything, so he ate veldora and the barrier, and both of them are currently analyzing the Infinite Imprisionment together
@dadolf Yeah, Veldora wasn't eaten the same way Rimuru ate everything else. Normally, when Rimuru eats something, it kills it but since he ate the seal itself, Veldora is just there, chilling. That also explains why Rimuru can't use any of Veldora's skills, because he didn't actually eat him

Those aren't actually dragon wings, they are bat wings a partial mimicry of the bat monster he ate at the beginning in Veldoras cave.
Rimuru "ate" Veldora but at the same time didn't, he actually only put him away or stored him in a sort of alternate dimension inside his stomach. Things in that dimension don't get dissolved or broken down. It is sort of like his personal infinite item bag and there are sections where things are stored like his potions and other items. He does have a link to Veldora in a way but that is moving into spoiler territory so best left unsaid.

Something that the anime doesn't mention is that the potions that Rimeru makes are full potions These potions are potent enough to regenerate lost limbs. There's pretty much nothing they can't cure as long as you're still alive.

The thing about 'auto battle mode' actually has to do with Rimuru's biggest weakness. Notice how all the Kijin are using these super strong, practically OP moves almost immediately after evolution? That's because they're using their instincts and training to 'create' those moves from the skills they innately possess and those they gained from Rimuru from being named by him. Rimuru...can't quite do that.
He can practice and train and expand on what he knows, but he's actually maybe about a year old at this point of the story, and all his skills were stolen/usurped through Predator, and are not exactly 'natural' to him. He _has_ all these skills, but lacks the knowledge, experience and/or instinct to make use of them in the best way possible, like the Kijin and Ranga and other monsters all do. In this regard, he's actually remarkably similar to the Orc Lord, and later Orc Disaster, in that they learn large amounts of skills, but don't exactly know how to use them. The reason Geld was so "slow" as an Orc Lord is because he couldn't keep track of and keep up with all his new skills. It was only after his evolution that he could properly think and act again.
However, Rimuru _does_ possess his own innate skills that he _CAN_ use on instinct: his Unique Skills, Predator, which encapsulates upgraded racial skills of a slime to consume and dissolve and analyze, as well as Great Sage, which is capable of completely analyzing all the various ways to use all these skills he acquired and the planning and predictive ability to use them all with absolute precision. Between them, Rimuru and Geld were more or less the same. In the end, it all came down to compatibility with their innate skills. Starved, which can take skills from defeated/consumed enemies, and Predator, which works with anything devoured. One required the enemy to be defeated and killed/consumed before it takes effect, the other works instantly.
In the end, Rimuru's skill just ended up trumping Geld's in that one, distinct way, which allowed him the victory. It wasn't a perfect chance, though, which is why he turned off auto battle; Great Sage will take the path with the highest chance of success, and an 'eat off', as it were, had too low of a success chance for the perfect computer-type skill. Rimuru was gambling on his own slime instincts to devour his opponent working faster than Geld's ability to heal and recover and eat Rimuru. It wasn't the choice a computer-like skill could choose, but it was something the more 'human', or at least 'alive' Rimuru could see as his best path to victory.

But instead through predation, rimuru acquiring some of veldora's powers(black lightning skill tree) from naming(aka divine protection) thing
