Geez Robert you found something in worst shape than your 140 yr old farm!! lol
It wasn’t easy to do that either
Cool car, these exotic cars are worth it. Not business card holders but cassette tape holders :)
That makes sense!
🤣
Damn Robert, you made me feel old! I almost choked on my popcorn when you said business card holder.
@@tinacasarotto1264 Right 🤣 I thought the same thing....nothing like growing up with the good old cassette tapes!! and to age myself even more, I also remember 8-tracks!! 😂😂
The “Risky Business” car!!!
Like Tom said, “Porsche, there is no substitute!!!”
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on. May the Lord bless and protect you and your homestead and getting the Porsche started
"I now have a Porsche that feels like it's free." 😂😂😂 The one liners in today's video had me ROFL through out it!
It’s like how debt collection companies work when they buy a debt for just a percentage of what it was- then settle for 3 times what they bought it for.
In other words, I had mentally written this debt off years ago 😅
Ummm....that engine sorta sounded like a rooster crowing when you tried to start it....hahaha
@@starlawilson4103 😂😂😂🤣
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG you make good point. ♥️😊👍
Aloha 🌺 I grew watching & helping my brother work on cars! Can't believe left it just to rot! Aloha 🌺
Hello sir, this is a wonderful project car that I believe you can get back up running. This is actually a 16 valve engine that is not interference. The intake manifold is of the older style, implying a simpler design it will not catastrophically destroy itself if the timing belt breaks. My 1985 Porsche 928S however is 32 valve interference engine. Mine is a little more complicated to work on, and to be quite frank with you. I do envy your simpler car.
Definitely a Project car, a whole lot of project! You're a super decent guy to erase a debt in exchange for it. It was fun watching you explore through it.
"Need to leave the emergency hazards on cause we need help" 🤣
That’s right. Someone help us please.
You got in to start the car, and the rooster crowed right on que.
Robert, have you ever watched Sleeperdude on you tube.? You would enjoy it. He works on everything. I love your channel, even watching you cut grass.
I’ll check it out
Who lets a 928 Porsche deteriorate like that, a beautiful classic that needs a bit of love.
Sad for sure
I am always so amazed at how UA-camrs can do so much with just one hand 👌
😅😅
Well Robert, you have a new project when the farm house is done. That will be a whole new channel. " Hunting Porsche part with Robert"!!! That will be a good one. Good thing your a man of patience. ☺️👏👏💓
Hahahha it’ll be long sold by then
Oh Robert. Another project to work on. Good luck.
I love it. " Porsche there is no substitute".
A long time ago, I'm guessing at least 30 years ago, I was interested in possibly getting a 914/6, though I never did. It's amazing how the sun just completely destroyed that interior. I'm guessing it could be as simple as the battery being not completely charged, or there not being a good ground at the battery. But it could of course be much worse than that. A
I Love the comment of " We need to have the Emergency lights on cause we need help" Just too funny. On a serious note, I don't know of ANYONE that would have a car like this and then let it just rot as bad as this one has. My distant cousin, Has one that he completely restored, and she is so pretty..He loves these cars...His name is David Cantrell and he lives in Pond Virginia.
I know it was a shame for sure
I`d be looking at the shift level starter isolator switch, &, it may have an immobiliser somewhere as well, although I didn't see a fob on the keyring.. I expect the fuel pump to be seized, as well as the pump fuse & possibly pump relay blown, & check for starter relay & fuse, & ECU/BCM relay & fuse..
Wow...a 928 enthusiast here: your friend is now really owing you money
A kidney punisher, Porsche back then stiff suspension great on turns. Keep the seat you need the skeleton of the seats to redo.
Hey Robert, long time subscriber from Warner robins. Like the car.
Hey, hey - I was just over there not long ago
Risky Business fabulous!
That’s the one!
I'm an old car lady who was young in the 80s and remember seeing cars like this on the road. I don't blame you for wanting to restore it. But I gotta say I cringed when you put your hand in that dark glove compartment lol...
I love a Porsche 928, but not this one. I don’t want to restore it. I just wanted to see if I could get it to start again before I resell it
I cringed too. I kept thinking that a bug or something was going to jump out. lol
I have a few 928s here. First up, take the shocks off the back hatch use them on the hood, just replace the hatch ones save you some money.... Check the the shifter make sure the switch is in park to start ;) Easy to hot wire the starter.. Jump post to the large yellow wire in the 14 pin connector right next to the jump post... Most likely the fuel pump is seized, it is under the fuel tank at the back under the panel
. Parts are not expensive and easy to get from Roger at 928s r us in Texas...
Hey thanks Paul. Where is the switch in the gear selector? I was wondering about that
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG it would be in the console with the shifter arm. There has also been an issue with the ignition switches and the rod that turns it. If you were closer I would pop over and get it going but it is a bit of a hike from Canada lol I would go right to the big yellow wire inside that connector box right beside the jump post right front fender near the radiator.
Thank you!
I hope he didn't owe you too much. LOL She's a gem. good luck.
Anything old puts you in a good mood!
The older the better 😅
So this ‘84 put me in an ok mood…. A ‘54 woulda put me in a fantastic mood 😂😂
Old is good 😅
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG I've never seen a Porsche like that. I'm from the era of the 60's! One of my High School German Teachers was into Porsche's, so I saw lots of pictures!
@@alanatolstad4824 surprisingly this one is pretty much the only Porsche I’ve ever liked. I’ve always thought all the others were glorified VW’s. Someone will get mad at me for saying that
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOGthe original 356 had a beetle engine that was tuned for higher compression,
That interior isn’t even bad. Replacement door panels, dash and F/R seats and it’ll look very nice. On a budget you can even find a single drivers side seat, and just rip and clean up all the other material from the interior and it’ll be able to drive comfortably.
When trying to start a car that hasn’t been started in years, always always always check the oil.. even if it’s black and old, it still has something for lubricant. After checking oil, spin the crank.. once you know it’s not seized, check the electrical.. wire brush to knock off any corrosion, and some electrical cleaning spray.
Doesn’t crank? Check the starter connections.. moisture can cause a bad connection. They usually don’t go out, they just need to be pulled and lubed up and cleaned. Hook a 12v battery to it and make it spin a bit, and make sure the gear and actuator pop out.
Shifter will need to be pulled, Jack up the car and find the cable and lube up and work free from being seized.
This can be an actual cool car for cruising to town and back. I really say keep it and work on it.. it makes for fun videos too for us to watch, it’ll pay for itself.
I really love a 928. Always been on my old car bucket list…. This one just doesn’t feel like it 😅
The oil surprisingly looked good in the car! I couldn’t believe it. I’m going to spin the crank next. Had to get a 27mm socket. Then after that I’ll dive into the starter connections….
That is if it doesn’t sell first
You could put a Row bar Cage in it, then turn it into a Race Car. All you would need is to install one seat and a Safety Harness 😎
isaved this for my last video of the day before i turn off youtube and watch the morning news. the wait was worth it. crazy how bad that car is good luck getting to do anything other than rot. love your channel and how optimistic you are, but one critique stop working on top of rusty nails you are asking for lockjaw and i like how you jaw.
Ooh.what a cool deal. Getting rich farm cars yes Let's work on that too
This Porsche have before a long time, a better Time have. To this Time a great Rust heap. All Minute a lost time. 😱
Greeting 🇦🇹
Surprisingly the body of the car isn’t rusty. That’s the big plus
Take the glass windows out and weld the doors shut. Then you just crawl through the window opening for the Race Car 😎
Don’t throw the seats away they can be recovered
No, don't throw away the seats.. they can be rebuilt.. the frames are still good. Hope you find someone who wants to bring this beauty back to life
Love this video! And im not a "car" person! And i hear both roosters and guinnias but where is jerry?
Thanks, I try to make ‘em fun for all…. Jerry was around!
Does the seatbelt need to be plugged in ?
I hope that person didn't owe you much money 💰🤣At least you can say that you own a Porsche 👍🏻
🤣🤣🤣 right - and no wasn’t much
Best advice I can give you is to sell it as a parts car. It's too far gone, unless you have a ton of money. Could be worth $2000.00 in parts or more.
You can sell the wheels, and the car for scrap .Maybe get a few hundred at least👍❤️
Oh my!
Lol timing...when you were trying to crank your rooster crowed.lol
Right 🤣🤣🤣
I was thinking maybe the rooster was giving us a drum roll, then it was going to start.😄
@@dmcrae1743 that woulda been perfect 😅
the console dividers looked like they were for cassette tape storage
Is ‘pimp my ride’ still running? They’d restore it, anything is possible 😂😉🇦🇺
Looks like a good project car. Well, you at least got $.02 cents out of the deal. Does the car come with a clean title? Is this the kind of car that Wayne Carini of Chasing Classic Cars TV series would be interested in. Don’t know how much money you have tied up in your “free” car? Good luck!
LMBO!!!!! You crack me up!!!!!
🫣😅🤣
Blue's over there playing
That's a big motor crammed into such a small space! I'll take my 1972's any day. I have a 72 Chevy Blazer K5 that needs a lot of work. But at least I can get up and sit inside with the motor!! Now my 72 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible right now only needs new tie rods. (At the moment). With older cars, it's always something. I'm selling my 08 Nissan 350 Z and all the money goes into my "Seniors" as I call them!
The worst engine bay I ever saw was my 1990 300zx…
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG I once had a Saturn Skye Ruby Red line and had to take the fender off to take the battery out!! Oh, and I'm a 68 year old grandma!!
Wow!
👍👍
Nice farm vehicle 🤣. Hopefully you find a buyer. Someone will restore it and it will be good as new.
Best farm vehicle ever 😂😂😂
Yeah “for parts or restoration”
I have one buyer supposed to come get it in a few weeks if it doesn’t sell before then… otherwise I have a long list of people who want to buy parts off of it…. Which honestly would be the most profitable way to deal with it but also the most time consuming
Keep the seats they can use the original frames to rebuild them.
Hi Robert, Reach out to Dennis Collins coffee walk, he collects all forms of Porch'e.
Multi millionair collector
Cool… I got a guy from Florida supposed to come up and buy it in a couple weeks.
@@edwinthompson6510 didn’t know when I filmed this - but I knew the value was there 😉
Like the one in the movie Risky Business ! Cool car but its so far gone its a parts car at best.
Maybe a project for the Auto Channel with You and Aaron
Nah, not this one - I just wanted to see if I could get it to start before it gets sold. I may give it another shot if it’s still around in a week or so.
make sure you check the oil
A bit disappointed that this was a debt settlement. I was hoping you'd say you found it on a bramble and wisteria patch.
Haha I wish
Maybe it has a KILL SWITCH , Some people installed them to keep from getting stolen back in the 80s
You need more than one life time to accomplish all your projects
New chicken coop 😁🐓
That is probably the best use for this no doubt 😅
I’ve always heard it’s not an interference engine!!? (Belt)
Neutral safety switch ?
Given it's an automatic, I wouldn't think so, but there might be a brake interlock. Couldn't see if Robert had his foot on it or not.
@@briane.5656 Automatic transmissions have neutral safety switches.
Save your seats because a good upholster guy can redo them like new. I know my old 61 Chevy truck seat was saved and extra padding because I am short.
Yeah, I’m not really gonna get rid of them. The next fella may want them
Can it be the gas is bad after so long or something in the gear shifter.
No, pretty sure it’s starter wiring
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG We are in Arkansas and some wiring n cars has a vegetable based coating. Mice love this stuff. We have parked a rig one day to see it not start the next morning because a wire was chewed in half.
Cassette holders not business cards under arm rest.
Nice video. Hahahaha. Value is in the eye of the beholder. My buddy in California had one and it's like yours - a piece of junk. Hahahaha. Eaglegards...
College football report is that Georgia Southern took out Nebraska.
Does your buddy need another one? 😅
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG hahahaha, No. He said costs are prohibitive. Hahahaha. He loved it when he got it. Dream car for him.
A buddy of mine I had one pretty much the same age a lot better interior and body was painted nicely he slapped 327 Corvette motor in it somehow he got that thing going of course he had to change the rear end but that thing's fast he still got that thing too after all these years he used to race it up here in North Georgia. There's a place in Marietta that buys and sells so Porsches you might want to check with them I think they're still on clay Street and Marietta I can't exactly remember the name but it's something I think it's Porsche you could just type in Portia and Marietta should bring it up he's been up there for at least 50 years I know I've had a couple Porsches myself and they're not cheap to work on I'm sure you know that just to let you know about some things good luck with your new found toy
Well that’s pretty cool. When this repayment was first in the works my initial thought was what every car guy either loves or hates - “LS swap” - but then like you said you’d have to swap rear end, etc
See if you put a race car motor in it you can tear that dash out and make you one with anything you like you can rewire pretty much anything you like the best thing about these little cars they're light as a feather and a good 327 or even a 302 5.0 well I suggest the 302 from the old days I'm stuck back in the old days you pretty much do anything you want to but you know as well as I know plus you worked at Volkswagen I didn't Volkswagen motors is something else.
Save the seats for there frames
Contact Richard Rawlings at Gas Monke Garage about the Porche. He's always looking for them and I'm sure he will be interested in it!! He's on UA-cam
It’s the seatbelts.
I thought u said the alternator didn't work.
Robert, you got RIPPED OFF! You should have taken the money! LOL
Let’s think for a moment - if I accepted it for a debt settlement if $500 that was from back when Obama was Prez and I can sell it for $1200…. Did I get ripped off? 😝
Reach out to Matt at off the ranch he takes great pleasure in restoring and destroying cars
Brother. Join a Porsche forum. There are plenty of used parts out there ... better than what you have. But not good enough for those Porsche owners. You'd go broke "restoring" that car. If you can get it running, with all the safety system's fully functioning. That car would be cool to see as a beater. Better interior withstanding, of course.
I’m on them already, I just wanted to play with this car for a bit and see if I could get it started but I’ll just be selling it as a parts car or parting out…
Sheesh! 😵
Sleeperdude youtube channel fixes Fords & Chebies, not sure about Porches. Vroom, vroom!
Is there enough of the old barn standing to push that car in and claim you found it? VIRAL! LOL
"ding...ding...ding...ding...ding..." - seatbelt not fastened.
I tried everything! Off camera
I would try to sell the car to a restoration person, there are a lot of people that love doing that!!!!
Why Robert why... 🤔
Reselling. Making money.
Did you put GAS?😉
How much money did that guy owe you? By the looks of that car I would say about $20....😆
More than that, but less than believe it or not what this Porsche is worth in its current condition. 😅
20 $ might be sorta steep for this one 😯🙈
My thought, exactly.
next project after house??
Nah, just gonna resell it, too rough for me 😅
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG laughing, to rough? I don't believe it! You just might get a pretty penny or two if you do sell it. My ex once took an old truck and floors were rotted out and to tell you the truth, I dont know what was keeping it together but he rebuilt that darn thing and made a nice shiny penny for it.
@@celleduffel1533 true. I don’t like rough ‘80’s cars or “modern era” cars. I love me a rusted out, rough, ratty pre-80’s car though!!!

I think you got the raw end of that deal, it will cost a fortune to restore something that far gone. The money is better spent on your home. 😏
Good thing I’m not restoring it huh
Poor car ☹️

I can't believe someone would leave an expensive car like that out in the sun and the rain. You sure there isn't 20 year old gas in the car.
The gas in it is probably older than 20 years
