Great tutorial, never thought the strats are so complicated just by watching runs :D Was thinking about learning the run but after seeing the tutorial I think I might not manage this after all, we'll see :D One big suggestion in case you do more tutorials though: add controller input like you have when you do runs (it is way more important to have for tutorials imo) Anyway, great tutorial
I'll keep that in mind for future tutorials for sure. It is a good idea. The run itself is nice enough that you don't have to be amazing to have fun, at least for beginner. So I would recommend it. As long as you're open to critique and willing to learn, you'll be good.
Thought I would add this just in case, but if you miss an AP boost in a run, there is one in the throne room to the right if you need to pick up one. It is the chest in the cove to the right the emperor. Thought I would throw it out there so you are not short on AP for TWTNW!

There have been a couple new strats that have been found since this release, if you're looking for variety on a fight that is too hard/ not good, I would recommend looking on speedrun.com and seeing the latest runs there. If the tutorial is too hard (keep in mind, this tutorial used old WR strats) then I would also recommend looking at other runners for more variation. There are playlists on YT that hold most fights for beg, on my channel and 119bigsid's channel.
I'm sure you could "hp 0" at 32:14 Station fight to go to cut scene. I'm actually curious. I think I'm gonna do that after I'm done doing a thing. I could have sworn I did this in my critical lv1 play through. Edit: just came back after playing up to that point. it does work but i don't know if its faster to do that in beginner but its sure fast in critical difficulty.
Getting hit to critical health will progress the fight. It is used on Proud/Crit and Crit level 1. We fight it out on beginner and standard because we need the experience and death abusing on beginner takes way too long to be viable.
@@InsertLogic So I started using your guide, my problem is that the rng manipulation just doesn't work for me and the bosses do completely different things then what they do in the video. Can you explain why that happens?
@@merlynve7304 To get the RNG manipulation, you must close the application before every run. closing the application puts the RNG at a "clean slate". If you don't close application, the RNG doesn't reset and the results are always different.
They're very different because of the extra abilities and change of stats because of the category jump. You're gonna have to watch a run on www.speedrun.com/kh2fm#Any to find out the strats. I believe Ninten also made a Crit tutorial, but idk how valid it still is.
This does work on PC, will update the title for that. Dome Skip can only be done on the GoA mod, which is disallowed for leaderboard PC runs (unless a category is created to allow it). If you are using GoA mod, you want to keep Final Xemnas staggered when he is past his final HP Gate (0.7 on health bar), it is wise to use session, make sure you don't waste hits, you need to put him to 1HP to actually kill.
You can ignore either Halloween Town or Agrabah and do HB3 (1K). However, certain requirements need to be met to unlock end game, Agrabah needs to be beaten to unlock endgame. Agrabah also allows us to grind Wisdom Form for Quick Run in Agrabah1 and gives us EXP on Agrabah2. Even if it wasn't mandatory and something like OC2 could unlock end game, doing both visits of Agrabah would probably benefit us more than doing OC2.
Am i watching this, not really bc i want to do a speedrun, but me and my friend are gonna do a contest to see who beats kh2 in the least amount of time, and I'm a competitive ass who wants to get an edge? Yes. Tho tbh this is impressive, I'm not super into the speedruning community bc i like to take my time with games, but finding out all these shortcuts and such to shave off as much time as possible must have taken forever. I've been playing the kh series since i was 5 (I'm 22 now), and I've never gotten my time for kh2 under 8 hours

the PS2 version is different to the PS4/PS5 version, making this tutorial not good for PS2. I apologise for not putting the console version in the title. If you ask in the KH community discord they'll be able to help you with the PS2 version.
Ah it kind of sucks that the Xaldin fight is not as cool looking (I practiced Nintens strat for HOURS) but there are more opportunities to learn the master genie magnet combo and that crazy infinite horizontal slash against the grim reaper guy.
@@InsertLogic Yeah that's why I fell in to the kh 1 and 2 runs, there's quite a bit of wiggle room for how you want to play if your not aiming for the very top
@@InsertLogic Hey so I'm running in to an issue and cant seem to find an explanation, when you magnet genie limit you recover drive gauge very rapidly. I cant seem to replicate it. Is it just a timing thing? Because if I use the limit right away the enemies miss the magnet and if I wait a second the magnet goes away and in both cases I recover nearly no gauge.
@@InsertLogic That makes sense, I wasn't really paying attention to spacing so that's probably it. At the moment I cant easily share videos but if I continue to have issues I'll find a way haha

Knowing when the cutscenes are skippable and practicing the muscle memory for the cutscene skip. It's something you pick up over time.

The strats present in this tutorial are still solid, but there are better strats available.

Ah wait I see the problem. It's the reflect damage that recovers the drive in monitors.
