This video kept me so visually entertained and engaged the whole time :D. I loved the explanations of different battle scenarios and the all around passion in this video! Great job Nic trazan would be proud :')
Update: As of 5/21/20 Logic has taken back the WR again with a 2:49:36 Update 2: Logic now has the WR with a 2:49:22 Update 3: Scratch that, 2:49:06 Update 4: On 5/26/20 Logic got the first 2:48 with a 2:48:41 Update 5: On 7/6/20 Logic got the first 2:47 with a 2:47:55. I doubt I'll be updating this again anytime soon.
This was an excellent video - it completely recontextualized the (apparently now former) WR run I just watched. I had no idea how close it was to failure at any moment, or how much strategy is involved in routing things out. It's been 14 years since I played this myself, and I've never tried Final Mix, so I had no memory of most of the game going into watching the run, but this video made everything make so much more sense in retrospect, so thanks for that.
That was a very enjoyable watch and you did a great job at nailing what makes the run not only attractive as a viewer but also as a runner. Looking forward to the next showcase ✌
Regularly coming back to this vid a year later, gotta say this is one of my favorite speedrunning vids, even as someone not connected to KH speedrunning at all but someone who has speedran for years now.
I'm interested in returning to the Speedrun world. Years ago I attempted runs on KH 0.2 under the name of " Elazon " but I wasn't speedrunning correctly, I rebooted nearly everytime and because of that, I had a bit of a burnout because I wasn't confident in my capabilities. Now I want to properly master 1, 2, 3 and maybe 0.2 before returning. My true goal is to aim at KH Rando :) I think I am capable of understanding how to do that if I work enough. It's scary because I'm not used to do much in those games but it feels amazing when you manage to do something good. I wasn't capable of beating Lingering Will and when I tried to beat him on Critical Mode lvl. 99 it took me under a week, it was a great experience
i don't even know how to start. Never speed ran before. But this has always been one of my favorite games and speedrunning it looks incredibly satisfying. Just don't know where or how to even start lol. How does one even practice, so many questions.

You can also watch streamers who run any KH game and they'll try to help too. There are a few tutorials online for learning runs, and for practice luckily KH2 has 99 save slots so just create a new save before each fight or any movement sections so that you can load it up at any time. Other than that, just have fun, practice, and dont worry about your time in the beginning. Speedrunning is hard and people get demotivated because they arent good at first but people like Logic got a 6 hour time on their first run so it really doesnt matter how good you are at first. Thanks for watching and I hope to see runs from you :)
So how long until a reroute happens where you squeeze out more timesave, at the risk of antiforms killing runs and causing resets? seems like thats the inevitable future for whoever grinds hard enough to make it worth it.
Unlikely, but definitely not impossible. What might happen though is that the strat will be to wait for a party member to die before you go into a form, so no anti. I know that has been in the route before.

Seriously?! I was in the middle of watching Ninten's WR when it changed hands again? That's nuts.
Still one of the best vids on 2FM speedrunning.
Very good video highlighting key points to know the research and build process of a KH2 Run specifically a Critical Mode one! Nice Job Nic
Awesome vid and energy!
Man it sucks I’m only seeing this now :( this video was awesome!!
This is an amazing analysis of the run. It's able to explain so much of why I love this game and keep coming back to it. Keep up the work!
Awesome video. You did a great job of breaking down what makes the run so special.
Really great video. I loved the Xigbar combo explanation very much, really shows what this game's combat system is capable of

With Sora in Smash Bros now, let's hope that KH2 speed running gets more popular.
