I worked on the B 58 at Little Rock Air Force Base in 1968 until we started mothballing in late 69 and 70. It was an aircraft way ahead of its time. I will never forget what that aircraft look like with those 4 J79 engines and for afterburner on takeoff right at dusk. It was beautiful. Will have to admit it was a mechanics nightmare but a privilege to work on such an aircraft.
I was sitting in a launch truck during my favorite minimum-interval takeoff on January 16, 1991. B-52G and KC-135A's blanketed the still-air with so much smoke I could only listen to the second half of the launch.
