I have 3 litime batteries. I’ve just had one fail after only one year of little use. 100 size. I have contacted their customer service and will update on how they handle warranty.
Any LiFePO4 battery can be used for a trolling motor. Trolling motors are just the 12V or 24V electric motors mounted to fishing boats that are used for moving from spot to spot. They drain batteries pretty quick so lithium batteries are an awesome replacement for heavy lead acid. However, on a boat you also need a battery to start your gas outboard when you need to get back to the dock or change spots on the lake. The extra 300-500 amps for 5 seconds means this is a dual purpose battery. It can be used for BOTH starting an outboard gas motor AND for deep cycle use with a trolling motor. Pretty slick...the name brand equivalent is currently $1000 plus.
I've ordered 6 LiTime batteries over the past year, and none have failed, save for one that had some hiccups after being submerged, but sorted itself out after cleaning the terminals. I use them for a trolling motor mounted to a kayak, charged by solar panels through a controller. They've been exposed to plenty of saltwater splashes, saltwater air, extreme heat, extreme humidity, shock, and rapid discharge (30+amps). I have 3 connected together.
I've been using LFP batteries, both commercial and DIY, to power my trolling motor for several years. This varies by which motor you use, but they generally only draw about 50 amps, peak. Most of the time, they draw less than that, because once your boat is moving it just doesn't draw as many amps. It's a no-brainer to use a sealed LFP battery for a trolling motor application. They are half the weight, twice the usable capacity, don't suffer from voltage sag throughout most of their disharge curve, plus they charge back up so much faster. These days, it is a false economy to use any kind of SLA or AGM battery for powering a trolling motor, because they just don't last as long.
Iv got one in my boat and a repeater building on a mountain top (temps from 105 to -7). So far it’s worked well I might upgrade to the 400ah battery as the repeater is more popular than we originally expected. 🔴 note the battery BMS is very noisy and not good for raspberry pi computers that deal with audio. You will have static issues.
The new Bluetooth version of this battery is currently on promotional sale for $229 on Litime's website as of 10/14/24. Not bad for a beefier-than-average BMS, low temp cutoff, and bluetooth connectivity. The extra headroom of 300-500 amps for a few seconds allows this battery to run some inductive loads with a large startup inrush current (power tools, pumps, motors, etc.) without tripping the BMS overload protection instantly like many batteries do. It seems like LiTime's build quality exceeds a lot of the other China-made 100Ah batteries at this price point, judging from the scores of tear down videos online for LiFePO4 batteries I've watched. Some of them are downright terrible. I own several models of LiTime batteries, and haven't had an issue with any of them yet. I just can't afford the BattleBorn batteries many people swear by.
Lol, the battery companies come up with some weird names. My buddy uses a weize 100ah for his trolling motor and it works great, and doesn't have a special name. I'm waiting for them to come out with one named RV CAMPING SPECIAL. Nice job Brian on the review !!!
I'm about to review one from one of their competitors, LiPuls, and I had a similar question about why it's designated trolling motor over one of their other comparable 100ah models. Thanks for your review.
I’ve been using these batteries in my bass boat for the past year and have had no problems with them. I have a 17’ fiberglass boat with a 125 hp motor. I can fish all day when it’s windy (15 mph+) and only use about 30% of a full charge for my 24 volt Ghost trolling motor then the batteries recharge in less than 30 minutes. I use another one of these batteries to run my graphs and always have good clean power all day long. I don’t fish in freezing weather so charging during the cold isn’t a problem for me. I live in Texas and we had dozens of days this year when the temperature was 105+ degrees so I wonder how charging in the heat does because I don’t fish in 100 degree weather either.
Thank you for the in-depth review! After seeing your review and several others on this battery… I am going to get one. Honestly, I kind of want to get one for the RV too…. 😁 I will wait until that one goes bad first though I suppose.
They have a deep cycle battery also, would that be for cranking? Could you use the trolling motor battery as a cranking battery? Do you have a suggestion for a lithium cranking battery for fishing?
Great video, I learned a lot just by watching. I want to run my MinnKota Terrova 12v 55lb thrust off of one of these. Do I need the big one like this, or can I use something like the Li Time Mini 100ah for that? The extra space savings would help...
Would you recommend these or the 100 ah self heated low temperature ones for a trolling motor? Boat is stored pretty much outside and the winter dips into the 20s. I Usually use my boat through out the entire year. Just not sure which ones to get. I may be fine with these instead of spending the extra $100 if the self heated ones but Figured I’d ask.
Thanks for the reply. It says the one I ordered with the self heating low temperature protection has a bms. It just wasn’t in the “trolling motor model option” which was kinda confusing.
I bought one off amazon 1-18-24 it will not take over 30 amps charging I have tried it in the motorhoe and on the bench using a new 75 amp converter Charger
I understand that these are storage batteries and are not designed for sudden amp draw used in cranking. I use an AGM cranking battery and use lithiums for everything else.
I purchased this battery from Amazon. I checked their description to see if it could be paired with another brand battery - they had nothing in the description. When the battery arrived right on top in the owner manual it says that it IS NOT RECOMMENDED to be paired with another brand. Now I am getting hassled with the return - am told that it is my personal preference to return and I would have to pay for the return shipping. They also said that they would deduct their original shipping cost from my refund - Amazon did not charge me shipping so why deduct shipping cost! I would not recommend buying these Litime/Amperetime batteries.

Good luck on that because they will tell you to send it back to China.
How was after market service?

Great info👍🏻👍🏻

Yes, it doubles as an anchor if you order the special cable.
Had one fail 👎

It can handle a higher surge to be able to crank a trolling motor.
Terrific video! I'm glad you reviewed this battery, this battery can also be purchased in Canada.
Thank you👍🏻

Great video, I agree. Their products are affordable and get the job done.

I've ran a LiTime Mini on my Motorguide 12v 55# thrust with zero issues. I'll never buy a deep cycle lead-acid battery again!
Does this 12.8v will be okay to run a 12v trolling motor without damaging the inside?
Yes. This battery has a very high max amp surge rating which will start up trolling motors
Would you recommend these or the 100 ah self heated low temperature ones for a trolling motor? Boat is stored pretty much outside and the winter dips into the 20s. I’d recommend still the TM batteries. They have a BMS that can allow the high amps it takes to start those motors

These seem like they would be better for golf cart because of the surge capacity.

I’d submit a warranty with LiTime then. That should not be happening.
Is this 12.8v lithium 100Ah battery considered a dual purpose? Do you know if it can be used for cranking a 250 stroke mercury outboard?
Do you know the amp draw on that motor?
I understand that these are storage batteries and are not designed for sudden amp draw used in cranking. I use an AGM cranking battery and use lithiums for everything else.
It looks like they are sold out for the moment. Would have liked it a little more if it had Bluetooth.
August 30th is when they say they “should” be back in stock
Would I be able to run my 24v Minn Kota Ultrex 80lb thrust, Garmin 93SV, and my bilge pump off 2 of the 12v 100Ah trolling motor batteries?
Yep. For about twice as long as you can run with lead-acids. I'll never buy another deep-cycle that isn't LiFePO4.
Are these the 100ah bluetooth?
No, this does not have Bluetooth built in
As of 11-13-23 this Battery is $299 on Amazon
👍🏻
Is the coupon for litime exposed?
No, should not have any expiration
Why didn't you ask them why they named it that. My concern is with lithium batteries, they die like someone turns a switch off when they get low.

Did you get a new electric bike
😉😉
They’re BSing you if they claim the is a low temperature cut off.
👍👍
👍🏻
Stay away litime has no service
