Just watched a video of today's 10 most beautiful princesses in the world on UA-cam.
They forgot the Princess of Central City Nebraska!❤

The first tractor I got to drive was an old Farmall B. when I was maybe 11 or 12 years old, in 1967. Next year I graduated to the 4020 diesel. I loved them both, but I quickly became partial to the 4020, even though I taught myself to drive a standard on the old Farmall! This was on my Aunt and Uncle's large dairy farm in Northeastern Iowa.
In 1965, I drove a brand new 4020 demo off of a 4 foot loading dock and lived to tell the story! The old mechanics referred to me as a John Deere test pilot. I love 4020s.
My Uncle worked at John Deere in Waterloo, IA in the 60's and he came up with the idea to put hand holds in the fenders so it would be easier to climb up onto the tractors.
Used them every day on my farmer friends 3020 and 4020. Great idea!!
Neat idea but like a GMC forgot to put the step gate on it and not every lady can lift her leg like Laura!
Those handle are appreciated. Necessity is the mother of invention
@@davemurphy2774 Battery was ratchet strapped to sit on the step. Actually they came with two steps, but the lowest one never survived long.
Been and toured the waterloo plant twice. Really enjoyed watching them build tractors
I love it that you show when things don't go according to plan -- because that's exactly how farming goes. Hookup connections aren't the same size, need an adapter - yep, that's typical. That shows what really happens for farmers merging newer and older equipment. Thanks!
The 4020 is one of the most iconic tractors ever. My uncle had a 3020 with an AM radio bolted to the fender, the hot setup back in the day for a teenage boy like me! 😁 🚜
The john deere 4020 is a legend of a tractor.good to see you are keeping
the 65 ,4020 alive.
OMG... reminds me of growing up!! My grandfather had a JD 4020. I spent many hours as a kid standing between the fender and the seat next to him working the land! Laura, you're right, it was used as an umbrella holder... :-)
A nice big umbrella would be cool and nostalgic, you just don't see then anymore.
Laura, About a decade ago I retired from a company that sells all kinds of shop supplies for farm and industry. Go on line to see their catalog, which includes the famous Williams hand tools. They will supply cabinets for your fastener needs. They very likely have a representative in your area. The company is Lawson Products and is an American company. You can also start an account and order on line. A great company! Oh, I live in Tennessee and am an old [83 yrs. farm boy! lol! Have a great year!
Pepper just stopped by to do the Cat Scan on your tractor 😂
At least you don’t need more ether
Laure, trust me, even after 30 years in Los Angeles, I appreciate our weather EVERY DAY.
Hi guys, run don't walk from the Snap On truck. HFT Ikon combo wrenches are every bit as good for your applications at about 1/3 the cost. Best of luck at the Wrecker Games. Rory is one of the best.
“You can come visit if you want” made me crack up.
The fun of old equipment! John Deere is #1.
We will be watching you at the Off Road Games and cheering you and Rory on!
We have sunny and warm weather here too! 🌞
My vote is for the umbrella
Fenders make the 4020 look so much better
When you first talked about the beautiful warm sunny day, I wondered if Pepper would appear in the video. Lo and behold, Queen Pepper in her radiant shiny coat! That cat has no problem mounting the 4020. Cool cat!
Wow Laura that was a HUGE step getting up on that 4020.
I could NEVER do that! lol
I love your channel.
Okay, with the super nice behind & the kinder words to the snap-on dude. More watchable. Oh, and pepper :)
The 4020 was my favorite toy tractor as a kid. I still have it.
Love the 4020 and the 3020, back in my teen years on the farm I got to pull a disk with the 3020, and a spring tooth on the 4020. Great tractors. We got them brand new in 1968.
Nice video. Sometimes things just don't work out. I worked on a hay farm I think I drove a 410 john deer many years ago. ❤
Hi Laura and Grant. Please keep Ag with Emma in your thoughts and prayers as she lost her brother recently.
I saw that post. Absolutely heart breaking to hear.
I'm showing my age but the 4020, and 5020, were the big tractor when I was working in the fields. I learned to drive tractor with the 830. They were all diesel. I really injoy this video.
The 4020 is cool. But put a ROPS bar on it for safety and a canopy on that to protect you from the sun. And the 2 step attachment for boarding the tractor. I would like to agree about the umbrella holder, but you really need to have the ROPS.
Yes
Neat old 4020. Nice thing about that model is that there's still oodles of parts available. If this is your first older machine, that 4020 probably has the old style JD hydraulic couplers. When they start to leak (and they will) you can change out the cartridge so they take the new ISO fittings, so no adapters needed. In addition to the fenders, a great safety addition is the 2 point ROPS bar, and then put the 2 post canopy on top. Great summer machine, safe, and you work in the shade. If you're needing a winter project, and finances allow, the 4020 can be converted to a newer style 404 or 466 diesel engine from one of the -40 or -50 series machines with minimal fuss. Maybe out of a 4040, 4240, or later 4050. Don't even need the turbo version, just need the diesel efficiency. Toss that battery over to the right side of the machine so you can use the step. :)
Will have to say that it's always a pleasure to see you 🤠😎🤠
Love you and Grant doing all this work!
Fenders are the 20th century version of the buddy seat. The first time I was ever on a tractor was sitting on the fender of an IH 656 baling hay.
The 4020 is too cool. I'm really excited to see it get used. I read an article a while back that said that many farmers were going back to using old tractors because they are more reliable than the new ones because of all the electronics in them. Really curious to see how this year goes.
Hi Laura we had the same little Tractor at are Farm to . Only ran Gas ... Great Tractor and it's good to see Miss Pepper 🌶️ .... Up on next to her buddy on the Tractor... It's great to see anything you guys buy and restore them up again God bless you Both and your family and Animals 😮❤
I always struggled with hooking the pto up and then I started some pre hook up procedures and one was before I even backed up to an implement I would make sure the pto would slide up and down the shaft and then I would clean the actual pto hook up and grease it and that solved most of my hook up problems
4020 has way more class than new ones
As always a great episode, I just love the fun you guys have with this old gear.
It’s autumn here and today was a perfect day. Warm, sunny and 30°C. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Love your channel Laura. You have such joy and enthusiasm in your heart and I love your projects. You are truely blessed and a blessing to 1000s! Cheers from NZL, David💚💛
You guys are awesome keep up the hard work glad to see some people on this bad times get something good in life ✊🇺🇸
Reminds me of 'Green Acres' - 'Farm livin' is the place for me' - That 4020 Rocks. Just think, back in the day it was State of the Art, newest and best John Deere had to offer. Ever wonder in 35 years what farming will be like for your kids?
The guy that doesn't want to see the Hay Day endorsement has a right to his opinion, regardless of how others think. If he was reaching to leave over a 90 second blurb for a game, then he was looking for a reason to spout off and to leave.
You keep doing what you've been doing and you will be alright.
I like the fenders for the 4020. Girl, you can take some high steps! Wow!
I am still amazed at your eagerness to lift and move things bigger than you.
Keep your noses in the breeze, and keep doing what you all have been doing. It's pretty evident that you're doing things right; the farm is thriving and growing, you all are key memners of the community. Much respect for you, Grant and Gage.
Congratulations on locating those fenders, guys!
Y’all are living a dream. Keeping working hard. Love your videos.
Love your channel!
John Deere fan!
Thanks for sharing your life with us!
Love the 4020 grew up driving one of those on my papwpaw's farm
Laura you do what you want on your videos, you make them and if you want to advertise something worthwhile than you do that. I love your videos as they are keep upbthe great job, it's nice that you put an old tractor back to work even tho you have all that technology setting around
Keep up the good work you two! As a long time mechanic, I see some smoke coming from the exhaust stack which means it is running rich on fuel. It also sounds like it isn't running on all cylinders. This could be from a fouled spark plug from running too rich.
Yep, I was noticing that too, could probably use a carb rebuild and tune uo.
Hey I hope you painted it that tractor deserves a little love lol !!
Hi everyone, my neighbor; employer had bought a ‘69 4020 D / cabless then installed that same cab way better! Then bought a 4430 (felt like I was in heaven) lol / now finishing touch on rockin your driveway cover it up with some 3/4- BN rock from Martin Marietta / Guernsey WY / the fines will stop the big rock moving around almost like concrete when packed down plus it’s a pretty reddish color/ it can be hauled in a grain hopper so truckin freight cost can be reasonable to deliver to you!!! 👍✌️❤️❤️❤️ ps 3/4 minus BN rock has 3/4” rock plus smaller fines rock ❤️
Good morning, and come away armed with inspiration and practical tips to put in action for your farm team!
Yeah I'm glad to see you Laura it's about 70° here today❤
I LOVE 😍 ❤THAT 4020 TRACTOR 🚜 I ALWAYS WANTED ONE
I am enjoying watching the work on the 4020. I bought that t-shirt last fall; and I wear it here in northeast Missouri.
I love playing Hay Day. I’ve been playing it for at least 10 years.
Sometimes even the nicest weather days have there issues. Better luck tomorrow! 😁
Thanks!
That old 4020 wow what a beautiful sound from her engine well done to you both for buying old equipment bring new life into your farm any chance you send some sun to Ireland as we are sick of the rain sun is very rare sight in Ireland 😄😄👍☘️🇮🇪
Pepper is the best!!!
looks good with fenders
I love the 4020 it's so beautiful 😍!! I am a john deere man till I die!!
Living in constant sunshine could get old after a while, Utah weather is cozy, that's why my entourage and I bounce to Vegas frequently! We bring the boys along, as well. You should come! Grant would enjoy the different casino flavors. I love the buffet's, Luxor especially. Ethnic food choices go on and on...
I have been a customer of snap-on tools for over 30 years. Your first trip into there truck, you will be leaving with more then one socket. There layout in the truck is for instant sales. Enjoy
Great To Hear From L&G
Always look Forward To Watch The Video Posts!!
Keep Smiling On!!
😅👍👊❤️
Got to have the fenders…..love your channel
I love that old 4020. I have a 1/16 Ertl diecast of a 4020 that looks just like yours only smaller.
The new old tractor is looking really good!!
Please also add a ROPS for that 4020. Enjoy the old iron!
Anytime you work with something new to you there is going to be a learning curve. Y'all handled it with a smile as for me I would have kicked tires ,threw my hat down................!
Once again… THE best looking tractor of all time!
Fenders are great for a phone mount handy for changing music
Ted is having a busy day. All good
Thanks
Lovin’ the 4020 with its fenders instead of the cab, but DAGUMMIT, I’m now hooked on Hay Day!!
Thanks again for posting these videos. I for one appreciate all of your efforts. Fingernails look very nice.
LOL...."When in doubt, bang it out"
We had a 4020 and a 4520 when we farmed. Neither had a cab. But we had a umbrella on the 4020. You could get a mount from the John Deere dealership that mounted on the fenders. We also had a 4620 that did come with a cab.
Love to watch you guy's!
A nice paint job on the fenders would look great!!!
Keep at it! Some days are just like that 👍
That 8335 is really current platform! Price is right too! 4020 would love a carb overhaul but for little light puttering gas is fine!
Hi guys… Congratulations on your new tractor looks like it will keep you busy ❤
Yep, Parker ag quick connects don't fit those old JD quick couplers. A couple of adapters and you'll be all set. As far as the brush hog tie the shaft to the tractor and get to start moving, then exercise it and get some powdered graphite to lube it with, grease will collect and hold the dust and grit.
As a single digit aged kid I remember when the 3 semis pulled into our drive and unloaded our first 4020s direct from the factory, then spent 2 days watching the local dealers crew prepping them all for use in cold mid-Feb. weather.
Good morning Fom Thailand Laura Farms
Howdy from still cool southern Ontario. Laura just as a FYI, when you spray the threads of a bolt, and then tighten the bolt, the torque applied is doubled. Enjoy the video journey, keep them coming. Ciao.
WD40 is good stuff!!! And thank you so much for putting up those short videos about scammers! They are all over and you are so popular that they are attracted to you. Never quit trying though because there are so many who love to see you and Grants farm life! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Yep, I live in SoCal and I'm looking forward to moving back to Oklahoma. I miss having real seasons.
At the 6:03 mark...SUPER---DUPER---NICE ☺😍🖒🤘
Great video!
Got more snow today up here and still snowing, about 35 degrees but it is a fairly nice day though
I like all your videos you are good farm girl you explain what you do on the farm ❤😂
My uncle has two 4020 diesels. One is a manual shift, and one shift on the fly. They're real workhorses.
Like I said on your last 4020 video, it sure brought back a lot of teenage memories, used the heck out of them at Christensen Cattle Company north of Central City NE
I spent many hours sitting on the fender of a 4020 as my Grandpa worked his fields. He would add dual rear to pull through the fields and I accidentally stepped on the hydraulic pedal that drew the wheels together and when Grandpa went to turn we just plowed straight forward. That is when I learned what that foot switch did!
Now you need to find roll bar with the canopy, nice tractor.
Hopefully you get all the right fittings to make it work.
That is a great teacher to be honest I think a tractor that size is more versatile than your giant tractor but here nice your correct both look good together and nothing better than green and yellow. I wish you all the best .Take care you all I love your vidios
SnapOn tool truck would love to see you. In my 45 years of turning wrenches I think I bought my tool dealers a few condos.
But seriously, I’ve lost snap on tools the same as I’ve lost harbor freight and husky tools.
So close - see you in the next one - cheers
Hi Laura and Grant
