Can we all just take a moment to appreciate that the kid's name is Apollo? 'Cause that is friggin' awesome! Also, y'know, Apollo being the god of music and dance (among others). So he's basically the god of musical theatre :p Which suits.
It was FATE
Also the god of plagues and pretty much everything else under the sun too...
(Pun very much intended)
@@ZuraTheGreat Dionysus is literally the god of theater. The origin of theater as we know it comes from the plays that were performed at the Dionysia, an event honoring Dionysus.
@@Bubblezzzzzzzzzzz No actually, it wouldn't be. Since some of y'all seem to be confusing a few things, allow me to clear it up:
1) Dionysus is best known as the God of Wine, but is also known as the God of Harvest, Fertility, Insanity/Madness. To a lesser degree, he is known as the God of Theatre.
2) Lovely as the theatre is, it has a few distinct differences from Musical Theatre (which is what I specified in my original post).
3) Apollo is best known for being the Sun God and rather well-known as the God of Prophecy and Healing. He is also the good of Music and Dance.
So no, I wasn't wrong. I may not have been wholly correct, but I feel I'm pretty right given the specifics I wrote originally.
My name's Apollo too and seeing the title made me happy because I don't know anybody else with the name
This kid is trying 10x harder than everyone on that stage and they will have their egot one day if they keep growing that voice and that talent
They? He's a boy. The title literally days it. Just say he.
@@HotCheetoGirl_ ‘They’ is gender neutral and can be used in place of gender specific pronouns. They are perfectly in the right referring to him as ‘they’ in passing conversation.
for my school’s Beauty And The Beast play we had a female as gaston. she KILLED the role, she was absolutely the perfect fit for it. and LeFou was played by a tall, traditionally handsome male. but he was also perfect for the role. and my parents, when they saw them, said things like, “why dont they have one of those tall men play gaston? he’s such an important role, and such a masculine person, to be played by a female.” (mind you she wasnt like a super skinny girl who looked crazy as gaston, she was a little on the bigger end and she was perfect for it.) i was a “silly girl” (one of the girls who loves gaston) and i saw a lot of her acting because i was in lots of scenes with her. there is no doubt in my mind that she was the best choice for that role.
Bet those two killed it in their roles
@@twist_ending7545 they really did! they were absolutely the perfect choices. LeFou was silly & hilarious, and Gaston was just perfect in every way for the role. The girl who played Gaston was actually a senior and one of two junior directors, so not only did she kill the role, but she choreographed every scene and made them brilliant.
@@bunny.boo531 you're making me wish I could've seen it, lol
Oh my god I wish I could've seen that so badly! It sounds- a w e s o m e
Your viewpoint is why the world is going down the toilet. Oh sure it is great for women to play men, and vice versa. Men and women are FLUID! Gay, Lesbian, Trans, Drag...come on kids, no need to be concerned with male or female, anymore. How about the Queen of England being played by a black, blind, trans, man.. ..purrrrfect! 😣😐
Fun fact: Original peter plan plays/musicals, Peter is played by a woman because they use a harness to make the actress float, women were normally lighter to lift. Theatre everywhere defies gender stereotypes. It isn't about who you are, it's about who your character is. It's art.
And since Peter was supposed to be a younger boy, they need someone with a younger voice. That's why so many Peters, even today, are still played by women
My favorite live action version was always the taped theater version with Mary Martin.
Same with Aang probably
I was in a production of Shrek the Musical where I and a friend of mine played Pinocchio and Peter Pan, respectively. And it worked out fine because I slayed those high notes and she killed that role 😄
@@wholetmeonhere I’m playing Peter Pan in Shrek right now!! 😄
Also how inclusive is this school? Queen Trident and Apollo playing Ursula? Y’all are doing amazing sweeties
I'm all for kids of ANY gender playing ANY role, I've always held my ground on that (had a female Gaston and female Beast a few years back), but if my memory serves, we're not allowed to change the gender of the character themselves, unless specifically given permission to do so by the publisher. Dunno if Disney would allow this, but i dunno.
@@CornoKev Ursula’s character was written/based/inspired off of a real life drag queen and is often played as such on stage both on and off Broadway :)
@@CornoKev It's kind of an interesting problem because historically there are less interesting roles for women (I wanted to javert if anyone in lame is, am AFAB) and after all it is *acting* so while it's kind of accepted to have people pretend to be other genders which is neat (love the idea of women/girls playing beast/Gaston !) Queen Triton *does* change the character but probably in a really interesting way. Even to the point where the nuances in some circumstances of this might change the play a bit, so the publishers probably could argue it's 'not their production' anymore.
@@CornoKev BUT ALSO it's like these are kids so it's probably not that big of a deal to let a girl be 'queen' triton.
I think Ursula here is still female as a character, just that she is played by a male actor. Triton is changed to female as a character tho.
For those who don’t know, Ursula was actually designed and inspired after a Drag Queen named Divine. It’s actually interesting that Ursula isn’t played by men more often.

@Yay Yay I was mainly saying that in response to other comments I seen claiming stuff like "it should've been played by a girl because Ursula is a woman gr, this is inaccurate gr". It is more accurate to the character to have someone with a deeper voice, in this case the little boy. I was just giving out a fact to further tell that. ...or to choose productions that involved less choral singing.
He also insisted on personally putting stage makeup on our cast before every production, but we were a big school and he chose big plays, so that often meant a cast of 50.
He only had about 30 seconds per person, and maybe one minute for the leads, and would rapidly dash off black lines and rosy spots on your head that sometimes made your whole face look crooked from a distance, and it was done with an ancient kit of greasepaint that was probably from the 60s.

I love Drag Race, but this kid can go farther than that. Ru Paul is too small for him. He needs Broadway and then the world!!!
@@Kattywagon29 Well, with how big drag race is, him being there he will reach MANY more people that way. More probable that he will reach "the world" with drag race than broadway alone, not even big broadway LEGENDS are known as much as queens on the show. He of course can do both, but if he's on drag race he will have many more fans and if he then is on a show on broadway he is going to attract a lot of people that are not that interested in theatre. There is nothing small about Rupaul and his show, just look at the following the queens have and the following people from broadway have. Broadway, the industry, is big and thats what most people know, but it is not everyone that knows about actors and follow them in what they do. But drag race...once people like you they will follow you anywhere you go, you travel internationally much more often, and perform in more places.
