thats what i was thinking too, when i was in high school we were mostly in charge of our own costumes. i remember i was one of scuttle's background dancers and our 'bird' costumes consisted of white long sleeve shirts with a white boa stapled to the sleeves plus orange visors and leggings 😭 but well, it seems like these kids are far more talented than anyone in my school so they 100% deserve this fantastic budget

      2) Lovely as the theatre is, it has a few distinct differences from Musical Theatre (which is what I specified in my original post).

for my school’s Beauty And The Beast play we had a female as gaston. she KILLED the role, she was absolutely the perfect fit for it. and LeFou was played by a tall, traditionally handsome male. but he was also perfect for the role. and my parents, when they saw them, said things like, “why dont they have one of those tall men play gaston? he’s such an important role, and such a masculine person, to be played by a female.” (mind you she wasnt like a super skinny girl who looked crazy as gaston, she was a little on the bigger end and she was perfect for it.) i was a “silly girl” (one of the girls who loves gaston) and i saw a lot of her acting because i was in lots of scenes with her. there is no doubt in my mind that she was the best choice for that role.

...or to choose productions that involved less choral singing.
He also insisted on personally putting stage makeup on our cast before every production, but we were a big school and he chose big plays, so that often meant a cast of 50.
He only had about 30 seconds per person, and maybe one minute for the leads, and would rapidly dash off black lines and rosy spots on your head that sometimes made your whole face look crooked from a distance, and it was done with an ancient kit of greasepaint that was probably from the 60s.

He of course can do both, but if he's on drag race he will have many more fans and if he then is on a show on broadway he is going to attract a lot of people that are not that interested in theatre. There is nothing small about Rupaul and his show, just look at the following the queens have and the following people from broadway have. Broadway, the industry, is big and thats what most people know, but it is not everyone that knows about actors and follow them in what they do. I’m 18 and a theatre fanatic. Poor unfortunate souls is a difficult song even if you haven’t hit puberty yet so I can say confidently that he did VERY WELL! That was probably the most amazing 2 minutes and 14 seconds of school theatre that I have ever seen.
    What a legend!

About two years ago I went to see the play Matilda, at a local high school. My friend’s daughter was playing the lead role. The Trunchbull was portrayed by a 17 year old boy. He totally stole the whole show. He was phenomenal. Despite the fact it was a low budget high school play, it was one of the best performances I had ever seen. The young man’s comedic timing was incredible. He managed to portray the Trunchbull as both hilarious and horrifying at the same time. My kids were completely surprised when I told them the actor playing the Trunchbull was a boy, they had no idea.

wow... just wow. the control over that voice, so loud (in a good way) and stable. with more practice and training throughout the years, this kid has a great shot at Broadway or being an actor in general. The stage presence he has is just amazing. keep up the work, kid, and don't lose track of your goals ^_^

Great job, the acting and singing were excellent. Also, I liked that it was distinctive from the original-that was refreshing. Your quite talented, best wishes to you.
