Just got a 2024 ultimate package. This is THE BEST cluster review. In one moment, I understood smart cruise, distance to previous car and lane assist. Great quick review!
@@CarsWithSteve Yes first time with an EV. A bit of a context. I'm 70, I've owned 2 Mercedes, 3 BMW, a Porsche 911 and a lot of others in between. As I said we "just" got the Ioniq so we're still very much in love but so far I think this is the best car we've owned. We hesitated since one of our requirement is our yearly Florida trip (yep, snowbirds!), but actually a Kia salesman sold us on the fast charging network down the east coast of the States. We chose the Ioniq (instead of the EV6) because of the looks but also because of the way we felt inside.
Oh wow, jumping from the cars that you've had to this must be an interesting adjustment. Your situation is why I think more people haven't jumped into an EV either. It's for the times when you take distance trips and have charging anxiety, but like you said.. fast charging is there for a reason
@@CarsWithSteve I love it! A few quirky software based issues but nothing serious. Such a comfortable car and eye catching. As you explained lots of regen settings which after lots of experimentation I just use auto regen, let it do its thing and forget about it. Economic driving is just down to your foot and nothing else. Being a Brit 😂 I just imagine I am chauffeuring the Queen and want her to have a comfortable drive! Gently does it!! 😂 Sometime after dropping her off at the castle I have some fun beating the sports cars with noisy exhausts at the lights 😂
What i don't like or even hate about instrument cluster is a speedometer located in the corner. i say it's more important than compass or tire pressure. especially for a tall person like myself speed number is partually blocked by steering wheel!
Ah good point. I didn't notice the speed being an issue too much in the short test drive I did of the car but now I'm going to have to pay attention to that next time I take one out
If you happen to have HUD it will be right in front. Having driven a Tesla Model 3 for the past 4 years, you really don't notice it. Maybe that can be your excuse to the cops if you get pulled over. 😂
This is really good information. My only problem is you talk so fast. I have to keep playing it over and over to try and get all the details. Thanks for the video.
Can you have the smart cruise control on without lane assist also being on? Are they independent of each other? It seems like i cannot turn the lane assist feature off. Any suggestions?
Referring to the lane centering system? The button on the steering wheel should take care of turning that off. What is the car doing with adaptive cruise turned on that you don't want it to be doing?
Thanks for the review Steve...... pretty interesting vehicle! I have an off topic question, if I may....... Can you tell me if a Powerboost F150 with the 7.2kw/h PropowerOnboard feature has a larger capacity lithium battery than the same Powerboost with the 2.4 kw/h PropowerOnboard? The reason I ask is I was wondering if the all electric range is further for the truck with the 7.2 vs 2.4? In other words, will the one version of the truck run further on electric than the other? Does that make sense? (I edited my question to make it make a little more sense lol)
Anytime, the Ioniq 5 is a pretty unique ride! For the PowerBoost, the capacity is larger but as far as I know that doesn't translate to an extended range. It's strictly an upgrade for the usable pro power
@@CarsWithSteve Thanks Steve, that's what I was hoping. Just came home, 3 hrs from Stoufville, and got 8.7L/100 kms and 40 electic miles. Had the truck in Eco mode. I'm learning how to eek out the most efficiency from it.....
@@cwqrpportable anytime! Wow.. I rented a Hyundai Kona for a road trip last week and it averaged 8L/100km throughout Nova Scotia. It's amazing that a truck is getting numbers close to a small CUV

Thanks so much JM, glad the video helped! How are you liking the Ioniq 5 so far? First time owning an EV?

You have a very soothing voice and you go straight to the point without waffling. Thank you for sharing!
You're welcome! Always good to hear when people appreciate the no fluff approach I have
Thank you so much you've made it so much simpler for me!
You're welcome!
Nice intro, learnt a lot and had mine for 4 months. (Ps you missed out auto-regen) pull and hold right paddle)
Thanks! Ahh the one thing. Appreciate you pointing that out.
How are you enjoying yours so far?

@@chrisflight6436 Haha chauffeuring the queen is a great way to describe it. Love to hear when people enjoy their rides! Cheers
Nice video, I would have loved if you had actually driven it to show us while it was in motion
Thanks Lazzie! Interesting idea.. I'll look at adding in some on road video in future videos

any idea on how to remove the steering wheel? strange there is no video of that
I haven't tried to remove the wheel myself.. Can't seem to find anything useful online either unfortunately

Thanks J. Try changing the playback speed to 0.75x - that seems to help people who find I move too quickly

helpful, but it would be more helpful if you spoke more slowly
I hear you! I'm planning a reshoot on the cluster and infotainment in the next few months when I'm back in an Ioniq 5
Too fast for me! I wish I could slow your speed down.
Try changing the playback speed to 0.75x by pressing the little gear icon
