There no reason to apologize doc, we watch you because you actually have knowledge about stuff like that and experience using it, too many unboxers would have pulled it out said “oh cool we got a radio and set it down and went on to next item, you’re all good
Great box except for the survival kit, I was impressed thanks jayson
The reason for the zipper being that way is because theyre using whats called a coiled zipper, a coil zipper is just a continuous zipper not cut and terminated as with a separating zipper. Both sides of the zipper are "zipped" together from manufacturing and have to be separated to install the zipper pull, however the entire length does not need to be seperated to install the pull which is why you see that, they just didnt take the time to unzip and re-zip it. Hopefully that somewhat answers your question 🤷🤣.
Cut to size zipper track comes together to make sewing it on easier so it's not flopping in the breeze and so it'll lay straight. When you install the zipper, it opens the already closed portion and reseals behind. Whoever installed these didn't take the extra time to take it to the end is all. Saves time.
I have one of those radios and I had my counties high band installed in is and I used it as my portable fire radio. It was a lot cheaper than buying an actual fire radio
Talking skip is awesome and fun to see how far out you can reach
good start to a decent bug out bag in my opinion. perhaps not all the best quality stuff, but better than nothing. i have to say as much as i THOROUGHLY ENJOY the medical rants..... i almost had to skip the radio frequency rant, but i made it thru 🤣😂

Baeofang radios will be excellent in a SHTF situation. Make sure you use it some and program it to your local frequencies and it would be a good idea to take a ham radio class.

Gmrs is general mobile radio service. License takes no test, just money, and license is good for whole family, it's limited on frequencies. Getting a ham license is very easy, does require a test, but teaches you enough to properly use a radio, knowledge for whether your in the right frequencies and knowledge to be able to build and utilize antennas to communicate in emergencies. So the knowledge is more important in shtf, then licenses. A caveat to transmitting on uhf/vhf not getting you arrested. You get this baofeng and randomly transmit on a random channel it could be police or fire frequencies and you absolutely can get arrested for that.

It’s a well thought out kit and can be bought for around $80-90 total but again, well thought out.
The radio is cool because most CBs anyone can use but if their 10 meter or higher you have to have a Ham Radio permit. At least that is what i learned in the trucking world.
Yes, you must have a FCC amateur radio license to transmit on the amateur radio bands. Listening only you don't need a license.
Not too bad. I would have rather seen that Stealth Angel kit be a decent knife like a Mora or a Gerber Prodigy or maybe a SAK or good multitool

I actually just bought a similar boafeng over the weekend! should be in tomorrow. I grabbed one just to listen in and learn a bit. I'm planning on going for my Ham licenses just for the hell of it.
also agree with sending two radios, but maybe send GMRS radios and the info to go get licensed. Since it's just a small fee and no test, it isn't a huge hassle to get. Plus the added bonus of GMRS working with cheep FRS radios you can get at any big box store.
Good job describing the freqs, Doc! We used to sit at Vint Hill Farms in Va. and listen to WOWO overnight on skip from the midwest.😅😅

It's better than most other boxes out there. I didn't catch the subscription price, though. That is what determins value.

I haven't got far in the video but wanted to comment before I finish it. Having a box like that show up would also hide what might be in it. This could lead to less boxes going missing

Just depends on the pricing and following boxes. Did I miss the link to look at their offerings??
You didn't miss it. I only post link in three cases: They send an item for us to look at, and in that case it's only fair. If I have spent my own money on them and I can vouch. If a viewer sends stuff and I feel like I've seen enough to feel comfortable enough to have good faith in the company to put a link up and steer people to them.
Another good box or two and I'll include one. But I would hate to see one nice box, put up a link (which a lot of people see as an endorsement of a product), and then have the next one be really shitty and folks are upset that they feel like I recommended a bad investment.
So we will see how it goes for another couple of videos. But if you wanted to Google Survival Peppers of Colorado, your first result should take you right to them.
