Reloading is very therapeutic! I load many steel shot loads as well. I have no idea how heavy you are loading those shells, but just so you know, steel shot shells do produce a great deal of pressure. Loading a hot Remington gun club 2 3/4 hull that makes 10,500 psi and taking that exact same recipe and loading a Winchester AA 2 3/4 hull would make around 13,000 psi. Pressure specs for a 2 3/4 shell should never go above 11,000 psi. That's what all 3" and under chambered barrels are built to handle. If you want to dial in your loads and see exactly what your getting, I have a few loading manuals that I could recommend to you. Nothing more satisfying then smashing waterfowl with home loads!!! Good luck!
Preston Schultz I’m trying to load in my load all 2, Winchester AA 2 3/4” shells, with longshot. There charge table sheet does not list longshot. How do I figure out how much powder to use with each shot?
@@tannerman123107 are you loading steel? Or lead? Steel and led react very differently to powders so if you load 1oz of both shot types, your pressure's will change drastically.
I've watched many of your videos & enjoyed them all. One word of caution on shooting steel shot, the shotgun barrel will get scratched up inside, if you use normal (thin) wads. Ballistic Products sells thicker wads, specific for shooting steel shot. One I use for 12 gauge 2 3/4" hulls is PT1260.
This is a long one, my apologies in advance 🙏 I was having a talk with my Uncle earlier today, it had started out pretty casual/normal, but as is usually the case the topic turned over to Weapons/Survival.
I feel like doing this is a de-stresser..... I want one....
Totally worth it. I spend time at my little reloading station, turn on some music and it's a great stress reliever.
A good stress reliever is shooting people
@@nflmixo9357 That's gonna be a no from me dog. Unless we're talking about call of duty or something.
Airsoft and paintball?
(Nerf exists but eh)
I've watched many of your videos & enjoyed them all. One word of caution on shooting steel shot, the shotgun barrel will get scratched up inside, if you use normal (thin) wads. Ballistic Products sells thicker wads, specific for shooting steel shot. One I use for 12 gauge 2 3/4" hulls is PT1260.
This man definitely has a derringer in his beard.
Possible
This is a long one, my apologies in advance 🙏
I was having a talk with my Uncle earlier today, it had started out pretty casual/normal, but as is usually the case the topic turned over to Weapons/Survival. He is a Military Veteran who served in the Marines and I on the other hand am a Firearm/Weapons and Survival Enthusiast and I also to consider myself a D-Day Prepper... .. .. I digress. Anyways, during our conversation he mentioned that spent Shotgun Shells can be reloaded and I can't recall ever knowing that was a thing. So now here I am gaining more information that I hope I'll never need to use.
PS. I discovered this Channel today during my search on the web for an answer and this is the video I found. Great content, you earned yourself another Subscriber.
"May the stars watch over you my friend"
Yeah I still reload everything from 22lr to 50BMG
@@StepOneSurvival Thank you, for not only responding to a new comment on an old video, but also for your dedication.
It's cool to see the same bb's I use in my Bb rifle being used in this guys reloading
This along is enough to make me happy...not even shooting, just sitting at 2am watching some breaking bad while my dogs are barphing outside and I'm making some fresh rounds... incredible hobby and amazing little tool
Did he call his loader the “mother loader”?
I've watched this a few times now and find it very helpful before I start reloading the lee load all was my first reloading press and it will be on my work table as long as I can reload
I am Dutch, i find this reloading very interesting , wish i could learn it!! nice video!!
I have been looking for how to load my own shells for a long time, this video was highly educational. Thank you
Thank you for watching I appreciate it.
"shotgun shells at wall mart" the most american thing I heard
Not anymore though they stopped selling them unfortunately.
@@StepOneSurvival Might be dependent on store. Was in Florida a little under 2 weeks ago and the closest Walmart to me had ammo but no guns or gun cases. The Walmart closest to the public shooting range had pretty much everything except some cartridges. A Walmart somewhere in the middle had some guns and ammo but no cases. However I heard that Walmarts are putting their guns and ammo away in case of looting following the election.
@@StepOneSurvival yeah that makes me sad i saw the gun shelves empty at walmart
@@StepOneSurvival i think they may have just brought them back where i am so theyre being weird
Was just at walmart today and the shelves were full of 12g bought 200rds
UA-cam recommending this in my feed. Amazing this is still up on youtube
and here i am at 6 am watching how to reload a shotgun, why not
Thanks for watching
Hey nice vid
I realize it's a few years old but just started reloading and your vid helped.
did four shells and tried and worked and shot perfectly.
now I'm addicted to reloading shotshells
Great job.
Glenn.
Thank you brother I do a lot of my reloading videos on patreon because of UA-cam giving me strikes. I'm not supposed to do reloading anymore on UA-cam. www.patreon.com/StepOneSurvival
But will he heart comments 7 years later? Love the video btw
watched step by step as I loaded my first shells! highly informative, cheers brother!
After watching this, what is the point of spending $800-$1200 on other rigs?
Definitely
I've loaded with one of these loaders for 30+ years. Great little loader especially for the price.
Definitely
That is so cool. I will never own one of those machines; but, have always wondered how one could reuse shotgun shells.
One of the better vids on shotgun reloading shells
My guy here looks like he eats brass as cereal and tannerite as milk
That is a real nice hobby to do my man.
Fortunately I live in a country that this kind of hobby is not possible by law.
But I love watching gun and ammo youtubers doing there thing.
MaxTech same problem here mate
I'm watching this in a country where you can barely have airsoft guns, but still, might come in handy some day.
But now you know lol
Thank you Sgt. I was having an issue with not be able to seat the wades in the 2-3/4 shells then I went over your video again and realized I had to lower the fitting down, because it came for the 3 in shells installed. Problem solved Sir. THANKS
Nice
It amazes me the vast differences in Powder's and the number's of grains all for 1 oz shot. Some are 16 gr and some are 32 gr. LOL
I don’t have shotgun, tomorrow I have a test, and I’m watching this :)
A year later.... so how did you do in that test?
I love that this man still giving heart to the comments
I comment too
Yay
I just bought my shotgun and gun. I'm really looking forward to reloading my own ammo.
I just love hearing the empty shells hit the ground, the powder and the pellet dropped in the casings.
One thing that I can tell us that it's much easier to reload shotgun shells then it is to reload rifle cartridges
That final crease is so damn satisfying in my opinion. Maybe I’ll get into the world of guns some day too.
I played so much Red Dead 2, as soon as I see such a nice long beard I think about the game
interesting to see, my dad's friend reloaded rifle rounds and I remember seeing it when I was little, it is really cool to see it again now that I am older and understand
I don't shoot enough to reload but I'd love to get one and just load to pass the time and just have a ton of rounds on hand
l live in Europe. I don't have a gun, I have no intention of buying it.
but you explained it so well, that I watched the video until the end and liked it :' )
Recommended brought me here And I’m glad it did
Not even american, guns are hard to get where i live yet i still found this video informative. Thank you have a good one mate.
Did you ever mention what powder ans bushings used in this load?
The shells landing is so damn satisfying
See I shoot trap and sporting clays (I’m only 14) but I’ve thought about reloading shells but just never have this video shows how easy it is so I’ll have to buy a reloader now. Also what is a good reloader but not to expensive
I have no idea how Shotguns work,
I have no idea how shotgun shells work,
But how I have a slight understanding of this.
And Now I am as well curious.
This is far more interesting than anticipated.
Also very satisfying.
Need this for everyone before HR-5717 gets put into play.
what i use too bbs and ball bearings > any thing got a ball bearing i crack them open Now i use bird shot with bbs and bearings > Reason is keep a tighter pattern I LOVE RELOADING AMMO
I will sound like an idiot for asking, but I am new to guns. Is that powder gun (black) powder or something else?
i think it's black pepper. helps pepper up your targets
It’s gun powder, it’s alright we all start somewhere. I just recently started reloading.223 and got into guns so I know your struggle. Just do your research and welcome to the community brother!
I’m assuming you are asking what type of powder he’s using. That should be smokeless powder which is what 99% of guns use nowadays.
Ryan Jaeschke thank you guys
I live in a country whithout army, and English isn't even my native lenguage. Yet, I still find this more important than Highschool homework.
Ahah fuck that’s an old loader, I remember using one of those 35 years ago. Great video. Ive loaded thousand of shells with that loader. And i was 7 at the time
i watch this every time it pops up in my suggested videos
It's pretty chill
I inspect hulls like I cleaning out the fridge. If in doubt throw it out.
Definitely
Wow great "if you know nothing" video. I didn't know reloading shot shells was so simple. Thanks for the new hobby!
I don't even own a gun, shot i think 3 times in my life. European in the middle east, but damg, great presenter, no fluff. Seems like a gent you could sit down and share stories with until the barman said there's nothing left in the guiness barrell!
I am really wanting to get one of these, i started doing reaseach and got freaked out by over pressured shots. Is there a fine line between to much pressure and catastrophic failure? Or is there alot of forgiveness and nothing to worry about?
I've explained that in my patreon videos about that exact thing. Really depends on the shot you're using
@@StepOneSurvival thanks ill continue to reaseach! Its something that seams simple and easy but when you take into consideration you could blow your hands off is the risk worth it
@@daytonpeoples1461 you can if the weight of the shot is too heavy. Heck too much shot and easy on powder can blow it up.
I don't even have any firearms (yet) and here I am at 1am watching some dude reload an assorted shell pack.
