    The old bushcraft saying is that wood keeps you warm three times; once when gathering it, again when cutting it and again when burning it 🔥🙂👍

      I doubt it she was sat in front of the fire 😆
      It wasn't until I was a adult that I realised that cutting fire wood was not that difficult using sharp tools.........
      Rather than a blunt old axe and bowsaw, that I suspect were last sharpened when my Grandfather was alive 15 yrs previous.

      I like the Bobcat. It's selling at over £100 now. It seems to have a bit of a cult following, especially on TouTube. I'd like to test it in some challenging conditions although I can tell that it'll be fine. Cheers 👍

    I live in Australia and am getting a Bobcat 1 shipped to me. Even after currency exchange and shipping costs it still ends up being a bit cheaper than all the decent one man tents that are available here. OEX gear seems to be really decent quality for the price. Can't wait for it to arrive, I haven't been camping in a while but looking forward to doing some solo camps. I really like the integrated groundsheet for the vestibule and people say that this is a four season tent which is impressive.

    I just changed to a Qezer down sleeping bag. it has very good build quality, is very warm and compresses much smaller than a synthetic bag. 70 quid and it's not a mummy bag. you can even open it out as a quilt.

    I do enjoy some camping comedy! You two are hilarious when you get together! lol Because I am aging, have arthritis and NOT strong like bull anymore, I am moving to the lighter side of things. I do like titanium, won't lie. lol I also am a quilt person but there are certain times of the year and certain circumstances that I would go with synthetics over down. One must be very careful not to get down wet because it will be useless as far as warmth goes. I am a cold sleeper so that would be my worst nightmare! lol It is also very hard to dry once wet so it wouldn't be my first pick even though I love the lightness of it. Thanks for sharing your budget wild camp, very entertaining! :) :) P.S. Congrats on over 3K subs, you are just cruising!

    • @matryderadventures
      @matryderadventures  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks Jacqueline. 3k subs. I'm astonished. Your point about synthetic Vs down is spot on. As you say, when wet down does precisely nothing. Titanium is definitely a great light weight option but I think I took it too far with the frying pan. Never mind. Love and learn. Thanks for all the support 👍

    I am not in the market for camping gear myself, but I feel like there is some really useful information in this video for anyone looking to make their first purchases, it looks from your list that you could even go a little under the £475 you said everything tallied up to. As stated in the video there is no value, other than entertainment, in watching someone spend $100 and have an uncomfortable night out, but then conclude that as they survived the night it was all great. Also I loved seeing the trail cam footage, hopefully you will find other opportunities to get that out.

      Thanks. I hope it was a realistic set up. I could definitely make it work. Sadly I have a camping gear spending habit. Saying that, these overnighters are a cheap way to get away from it all so it balances out. Thanks for all the support this year. Your comments always cause a chuckle. Cheers👍

      That sleeping pad is an absolute bargain. It looks and feels just like the Thermarest Neoair X Lite. The only thing I can't speak for is it's longevity but for £40 it's worth a shot. It was nice sitting back and watching Ross do all the work. He's a good cook too. Cheers 👍

    I'm largely in the reasonably priced camping gear camp for the amount that I do, Naturehike cloud-up 2 tent, etc ( only bikepacking in the better part of the year ,these days) with the exception of a decent down 3 season bag.
