Which rc car would you rather own? The wltoys 144001 or the wltoys 124019 rc buggy are both awesome RC cars. In this video we take a second look at the wltoys 144001 rc car that we tried almost two years ago and had a bad experience with. Meanwhile, a couple weeks ago we took a look at the wltoys 124019 rc buggy and loved it! Be sure to tell us which rc car you would rather have in the comments!

Um mabby the green one
i am a big fan can you reply to me pls i love you so much
Put the batteries under the strap ! It should hook to the strap then .You're not using the whole strap . I had an Rc that was just like that and it worked perfectly.
124019 for sure.
@@alanhafer828 that is what I said
Lost wheel nut is operator error... I check each run, wether it's my xmax or my c44km. Every car gives you a wrench to check them, use it 👍
Passive aggressive lmao
These guys just know how to use their rc, just that. No clue on tweaking, fixing things up. They think those rc will fix and take care of themselves😁
There have been three versions of the 144001 so far. In the first version the axles were a mm too short and didn’t engage the nylon in the Nylock nuts so that’s why that fell off. Version 2 and 3 they just made minor changes in the switch on the ESC.
The battery strap on the one you have will actually fit that battery just fine. You just need to rethink the way you use it.
Pull the strap all the way forward until the buckle hits the rear battery tray. Then instead of putting the battery on top of the strap like you normally would, pull the strap off the chassis and slide the battery in under the strap. Now just pull it tight and stick it to itself like normal. The Velcro will only be going over the top of the battery but will be pulling down on both ends and will secure it nicely.
Have a great day and be safe out there!
Is there any way to make sure I get the newest version? Bangood has a million sellers
@@leaguecarrypro it’s a pretty popular car so most likely all the earliest versions are gone. No guarantees but I’d feel pretty safe buying another one.
The battery strap is not too short for these long batteries, you only have to put the battery completely under the first layer of the strap and pull the strap completely from the opposite side of the plastic side. Then you have a sufficiently long strap to secure the battery. (sorry for my bad english, that is not my native language).
Congrats on 254k subs. To put that into perspective a normal foot ball stadium holds 66k people so that means that your subscribers could fill up 3.8 stadiums. Keep it up
I pulled the strap all the way through and let the plastic ring stop the strap and then loop it through the other side. That way the strap doesn't go under the entire battery but just goes over it. Works like a champ. I'm still figuring out where to mount my FPV battery thought.
Picked up the 144001 last month. For the price this is a fantastic starter. Broke the rear wheel seat. Went ahead and did the complete all aluminum alloy upgrade all parts except the diffs. Looks so cool in all gold color. 30+mph out the box. Finished the brushless motor upgrade yesterday. Speed test hit 45mph. Silly fast.
Well, nothings wrong with jumping on asphalt. But, well, maybe use a ramp that's a bit broader? So the whole car actually hits it?
Just a suggestion😏
I’m glad you guys revisited the 144001. I would like to see more follow up videos on the vehicles. There’s a lot that can seem great in a first run, but three full batteries worth of driving can start to show more the warts in a vehicle. For example the 12428 is great, but it has a tendency to bend the front axles. Thanks for the great family friendly content. Keep the videos coming.
Hi guys, great video. I have four 144001s, all have slightly larger wheels and tyres, all have better rear spoilers and front bumpers, all have heat sinks on motors. I use them mainly in the garden, running over short grass. I use a 40cm high ramp, all have jumped hundreds if not thousands of times with only minor easy fixable issues. I use the 1500 ma battery's that came with them. They last about 18 minutes each. I like them as much as all my arrma's, and other rc's. Fantastic value for the money. Love the videos, keep em coming. John.
My friends own both! I would choose the 144001
I got my 144001 last spring. It came with the smaller battery and works great! My brother got one too soon after. We got metal replacement parts, and we are slowly replacing the plastic pieces as they bend or break. Getting some lights for it so that I can drive at night too.
I did the full metal conversation and gave it drift wheels. It's so heavy and drifts so nice
Put the battery below the bottom battery strap and then it will work for Shure
That makes sense, lol. Will give that a shot on the next run 😁👍😎⚓ Thanks!
Sure.
@@stephenksiazek812 i have done it
to with mine
Okay...my experience with the 124019 aka the purple one is as follows. 5 min. in, lost wheel nut. Had a wheel nut that I didn't know I had and we were rolling once more. Stuck the GPS on there and Yeehaw 26 mph and took a sharp left and tumbled twice to a sudden stop. It broke everything in the front of the car. Broke the top off of one shock, cleaned the shock tower mounts off the diff. and bent control arm pin lol. I've done most of the repair surgery only to find that the diode on the motor only had one leg soldered and the other was being held in place by the esc! So just waiting for the chance to finish this repair project and get some quality time in with this guy. I now have tons of spares so fingers crossed I get some time to play lol
I like the second look idea for R/Cs that are either long-term favs or maybe just got off the wrong side of the charger that first day out. 🙃
Hmm... Arguing over picks for boy names... Hmm... 🤔😉
Place the strap that is under battery and run over top of battery and stick the Velcro. Should be tight enough across top to not let it flop out as easy
Put the battery under the strap. Put the battery right on the metal chassis and let the Velcro strap lay on to of the battery and run the strap to stick it tight
To bad they dont have the common sense to figure that out mate. They have to be spoon fed to realize that.
I ordered the 124019 right after I saw it was your choice for the year. Still waiting, at least it’s been sanitized 😁
With all the lipos that you have, can you show us where you store your lipos? I ask because I'm a little paranoid about fires
We do our best to put all lipos in a storage mode first and foremost. After that, We keep them in Lipo bags, inside cracked open ammo cans. Hope this helps! 😁👍😎⚓
There's two things to do right away, check the oil in the chocks, some are overfilled, and grease the diffs, there's hardly any grease in them.
You know if you used a wider ramp, like maybe 3 feet or more, you would be breaking way less stuff. Every time you wreck its because you hit the side of that small ramp and fly sideways.
Hi abi and nate I have been watching almost all of your videos quite sometime now and Im a fan.. 😁
I have the same buggy the first time got mine i tightened up the wheel because ive watch your video hehe.. What i did with my battery is i have put velcros the buggy and batt itself and extended the existing velcro a little.. Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year! Cheers!
Sounds like the perfect fix Emmanuel! Thanks for sharing the update. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 👍😎⚓
My 144001 experience has been pretty good all in all, but that longer wheelbase seems really nice for overall control.
That is not the factory battery. You do NEED TO get a longer strap. That's considered an upgraded battery so like every upgrade a modification is probably needed.
I finally got my 124019 in the mail and it is absolutely amazing! It totally blew away all my expectations. I put a set of 2.2 Duratrax bandito M tires on the front and rear LOL and it turned it into a completely different animal! It runs right along side of my much more expensive Bashers. Your videos inspired me to get one, and now I'm completely obsessed with the silly thing! All I do is daydream about upgrading it now!
I bought both love the wl124019. haven't
Opened the wl144001 yet as they are 2 of my daughter's Christmas presents lol.
Can't wait for all of us to bash them.
Hi I really love your videos please never stop posting RC videos because it shows other new people that RC is a great hobby!
I really appreciate your honest out of the box reviews. Keep up the good work.
I bought the 14001 and it was fun for about 4 battery packs. It was making all kinds of driveline noise after that and I couldn't track it down. The thing started slipping and was junk after. I gave it away to a friend so I paid $90 basically for 4 runs, so if that is what you are looking for then have at it. I feel that was unacceptable and am only reporting my real world experience.
I am glad you are willing to share your experience jackal. We feel like they aren't made as well as some people have said. Surely you didn't purchase the 144001 based on our "review" of it!?
@@TheRcSaylors no I didn't, but did after an accumulation of reviews. I have bought other rc's based on your reviews and have been happy and feel my experience was not ordinary but it was real so I feel I should throw my experience in. When it did work, don't mistake it, that thing was a blast!
@@jackalo626 what's slipping. Sounds like you stripped a spur. That's a $5 repair. Quit acting like you wasted $90. Maybe rc isn't for you..or go buy a $400 Traxxas
@@jessiecassio8349 I took it apart and found no wear, it was like the gears had qc issues and weren't correct size. This is a youtube comment section and I shared my experience, your problem you didn't want to hear it. And yeah rc is fine for me and I have many others. $400 lol that just scratches the surface buddy.
@@jackalo626 your opinion sounds like BS because what you say makes no sense and thousands of these sold with 5 star reviews everywhere. If a gear was the wrong size fix it. Sounds like this hobby just isn't for some people, Karen
Are you not supposed to put the battery under the strap and tighten it across the top in that configuration?
I was just about to say the same thing..took me like 40 seconds too work that out….
Great video. Wishing you and your family a fantastic Xmas. ♥️🏴
Thank you! Merry Christmas 🎄😁👍😎⚓
I bought this a few months ago and i have ran it quite a few times. i broke the rear wing by landing it perfectly on the wing off of a ramp. after fixing that i have ran it several times. i have crashed it hard a few times and bent the shock tower, i was able to get it back straight. it is a lot of fun and i enjoy driving it. it is a great RC for the price. my only complaint is the integrated ESC/Receiver combo. i wish they were separate so you could more easily change to a different transmitter.
Interesting note on the battery with the 144001... My upgraded battery version came with an aftermarket strap in the box. Also, you can reroute the stock strap to go over the top of the larger battery to hold it down firmly. Just thread it over the top of the batter and not underneath.
Solid buggy for the price. I've been enjoying mine. Definitely not RTR out of the box though. Have to properly fill (or take oil out more likely) the shocks, grease the diffs, and tighten down all the bolts.
These are fun for a cheap hobby grade to tinker with. Stock is fun, but building these into something better is more fun.
That being said. I just got the 124019 and it is quite a bit better!
Yeah, but I found that going over like you said doesn't hold it as firm as it should if it went all the way around. And there's a screw mount on the edge that the battery has to sit on. I wound up cutting the end of my battery bracket so the wires could fit easier.
@@etxkevin7452 oh totally. But routing the strap over the top is a much better temporary solution as opposed to no strap at all (as in the video haha).
124019 solves all the space issues the 144 has.
Why dont loop the battery strap over the top of the battery and holders instead of under? it should fit that way
That's what I said
It all started with a dirt cheap little A979. I couldn't help myself. Got em all.
BTW. You can use that strap with the longer battery. It doesn't have to do a full loop. The battery needs more padding than that under it anyway.
Assuming you've pushed out the front battery cradle you can simply hook through the rear slot and hook it around the front, then its plenty long. Battery need more padding than that under it anyway.
I would rather have the 124019 I love its cool looking purple white and black livery and I love its performance the 124019 is a huge step forward for WLtoys would you agree Nate?☺
I bought the dune buggy on your recommendation. So far its great. Reviews arent so kind on rear ends and drive shafts. Mine runs fine but I dont bash hard at all.
There are upgrades I would love to see. For $125 its great if it doesnt implode.
I got a wltoys 14401 a year and a half ago it's by and far my favorite budget RC. I have launched mine 30 to 40 feet off skateboard ramps I use for my 1/8 scale trucks the only issue I have ever had was wheel nuts but the smaller traxxas cars use the same wheel nuts .
I don't think you gave the 144001 a fair run. I love mine, but you've got to treat it more like a speed basher, get it up fast and it just loves it, low centre of gravity and mental handling.
They're great little cars only issue I find is diffs are a bit loose they tend to spin in a circle at full throttle pull away. Little secret with the battery strap too , for the longer battery put the battery under the strap so it goes chassis battery strap and not chassis strap battery strap. Best I can describe it lol.
I cant decide what to buy as 1st adult RC car. This one, or UDIRC 1601. I want it just for fun, and this is 20€ more expensive than UDIRC 1601, but should do almost twice the speed.
I'm baffled at how much the prices have gone up in just a year. This car is $160 now!
My brother got it for 80£
@@beamboy07 from where?, I can only find it at $160 on ebay international
@@sachinbhoi5727 bangtoys
@@sachinbhoi5727 Banggood
try uk deliverys, stuffs usually very battered-- (think major damaged boxes) and with the lack of packaging its just luck on how well it's packed from the vendor, not bangoods total lack of effort -- least amazon package well, and that must cost bangood lots but hell you lot get stuff real cheap so that must offset the costs
Just run a self tapping through the battery into chassis problem solved no more battery falling out.
A self tapping screw going through the Lipo battery ??!!!!!!! I hope you're joking or I misunderstood you. Otherwise that is some crazy and dangerous advice man.
Im pretty sure he was being fecicious 😂😂 actually pretty clever
@@radiocontrolled9181 you must be fun at party's bro.
We have 12428...Been ok! We also have Arrma Granite Voltage..$99! Easily best basher for the money!
Very cool. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
SUPER follow up!! I like the purple one. BUT am a fan of the 144001!! Yes, the battery was slinging out until I added Velcro!! I did everything you said in your 1st review...tighten nuts with blue lock fits and buy 2, one for spare parts!! I don't like to ramp it, but it is an AWESOME drifter/racer!! Thank YOU SAYLORS for the FUN follow up!! 💟👍😘
I’m confused as how you mentioned that controller is light and feels cheap when the 124019 has the same radio and you said you liked it? Help me understand.
He likes the respond of the transmitter to the rc car
The 144001's wheel nuts are a known failing, however,if you replace the stock nuts with new ones,it eliminates that problem.
Loctite is nice too
What battery did you fit inside of the 14401? Can you provide the link please
Kevin Talbot uses skate parks and he is also honest about his reviews
I would just put velcro on that battery and use that to hold it in.
i have that one love it i can get 41mph on a 2s battery and i have the white and red same thing different color i get 45 mph on 2s
Got 1 of the wl124019 and 2 of the wl144001.spent around 350 for all 3
Can't get that much more fun form 1
Rc thats cost 350 especially if you are
Someone starting if the rc hobbie.
I love my wl124019 out of the box.
Exactly what I was looking for . Im a parent and I want my son to open this at christmas and play it . Thank you for your review. It would be a nice video in the future how to upgrade it .
Cool couple, very honest and normal approach. I felt like a friend of yours while watching the video. Awesome job guys keep it up!
Welp, I don't know what you two do to your 144001 but mine is running great and I've crashed it hard. lol
The battery strap issue is something I would imagine most people would fix on their own with something even if they're new to rc. You are correct, they do need to include a longer one though.
I just got my 144001 a few weeks ago. Got it off ebay for $60 shipped. Bought a couple extra batteries for $20 for 2. I've already run at least 25 battery charges through it. It just takes all the abuse I give it. Love this little car. Will check out the bigger version.
Wow $60. Just paid $90 on eBay
the 144001 green one and had no problems with it, my strap was long enough to hold the longer battery too lol also the tray came in the right position too.
the only upgrades im going to do are upgraded diffs and a metal drive gear along with a brushless motor. its fast but it can be so much faster
I just bought the 144001 and it should be here in a couple of days! I'm stoked because I got the 12428 and I LOVE that RC! Also, I really am considering getting that black biggie, so I'd really appreciate it if you were to feature it on your channel.
Awesome! Here ya go!
ua-cam.com/video/odao_1c8Ct0/v-deo.html
The original strap fits all battery sizes. You just need to feed it through the top and not have it run the length of the bottom AND the top.
I love it! When you just slid into Abby!! Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication in making the videos!
I'd go with the 124019 myself. I like the longer wheelbase.
Us too, for sure. I wish they had a few more body color designs for it. Purple is cool, but I'd like to see what else they could do with it 👍😎⚓
I have the red version of the 144001 and the 124018, the black sand rail version of your purple buggy, just got it today, can't wait to get out and run it tomorrow. I really like both of them, I did break some parts on the 144001, I hit a curb, ordered up all the aluminum upgrades for it.
To bad again no track to see a better comparison. Would have especially been awesome to see some track time and a real ramp. You guys are awesome.
The dreaded Ramp of Doom! 👻
I've got the 019, love it! You want to get the buggy one, the 124018, tune up the shocks and grease the diffs. They're awesome little buggys. I would think the smaller 144001 would be a whole lot more squirely and less easy to keep control of. If I bought another, I'd go after the lcracing truggy. The 124019 is a clone of that. But I wouldn't go after their smaller one or the 144001 either. Great vid, great laughing! Thanks!
I’m waiting on the black buggy review to decide between it and the purple on.
I recently purchased the wltoys 12427 and I am waiting for it to arrive and I also own a wltoys a979 1/18 monster truck and I am very pleased with there products!! I would love to own the both of these buggies actually because I have heard that they are both great vehicle's and as long as it makes you happy then that's all that truly matters!!!
I like both but the purple one seems to be more upgrade friendly because of its size. For the $$$ both are a bargain. It’s too bad the LCRacing version isn’t as durable (I watched that video). Thank you running them “as is”/out of the box because lots of people may not have the time, or extra $$ to upgrade them. Plus if there’s minor flaws (better battery straps) at least noobs or parents will know what to expect and may still want the products but will do the minor upgrades/improvements so they or their children can have a positive RC experience.
Great video guys I was just wondering which by the way you have in there and which one do you recommend
Waiting on my 124019, 2 more weeks it should be here! Merry Christmas! 🎁🎄 ☃️
Yes! I would like to see the black buggy!
Gave you guys a thumbs-up... but if it doesn’t fly, I don’t own it. Happy 2021 😎
I was looking at the battery life on the 144001 is bigger and it last longer: 2600mAh 15-18 minute play time vs 124019 with 2200mAn. 9 minute play time.
Is this accurate? i wanted to go with the 124019 but the battery of the 14001 is selling me more. I will strap the battery so it doesn't come off. What do you think? advise please.
I got the 144001.I am mounting a stuffed animal wild boar on top of it and useing it to train my Catahoula pup😂
So what do you recommend as the best cheap 4wd buggy currently?
I love these little cars. You guys are fantastic and have a great chemistry. Thanks for giving this little guy a second chance. I'm going to buy one when they go on sale around the 3rd of January. I picked up a Arrma Typhon S3 yesterday. Thanks for the great videos on that vehicle also.
Love you guys, the videos are real and you guys are real.... If that makes sense. Keep up the great work!!! And poor bangood wait periods, it'll make it there.
Where can I buy the small ramp that you use in the video? Thank you, good videos.
Liked the vid keep them coming. Honest review
Hey you guys still have the DHK Maximus? I just bought another one for 349, Couldn't pass it up. Hey 2 of a good thing.
Good Job to you both and Merry Christmas to you and your Family All the best 👊💯
Thanks Mark! 😁👍😎⚓
I have the same purple and white one except I cant use it cuz i need a new battery, body, suspension, and wheels cuz I crashed it into a wall
Rams it in the ground an cries about minor errors.
This thing is the best 100$ Rc since ever and a very good entry to get into the rc hobby
Cries is probably a little harsh. I'm gonna call it like I see it. Sour Grapes 🍇
Hey Nate and Abby, I am just getting into the hobby with my son having had fun with bargain toy RCs from Amazon like the Revell Cross Storm (they claim 50 km/h on the box, but it's not! Still lots of fun for us though!). I loved toy cars and had a Tamiya Boomerang as a kid (yeah that was a long time ago!) Thank you for driving the cars as they come and being so friendly and helpful to noobs as well. Your channel has been a big help to me. Like you, for me, it's all about fun! Keep rockin'!
I feel like everyone owns a version of this buggy except me! It just doesn't do it for me, but hey, it is affordable.
Thats alright! What style of RC is your favorite?
@@TheRcSaylors I like bashing and my favorite is the Kraton 6s (check out my videos on them, not as good as yours, but I'm just starting my channel 🤞). I have the new V5 and it is amazing! I also do some planes and own the Aero Scout, Timber Turbo UMX, Radian UMX and the Habu and Twin Otter are still new, in the box. Building up my flying skills before I take those ones out!
Come on Wltoys, make a new truck! Perhaps the Wl14007116938.
Cool ground vehicles and drones are my favorite
Love my 144001 got mine for £63 on Bangood with the small battery, not had any issues with it, drives great very fast for price, will get the purple one too though
wl toys makes some of the best cheaper rc cars ever for bashing, upgrading, speed, control, and all around quality. they are amazing and they never let people down, if you see a wl toys that you like, chances are its durable, fast, upgradable, and controllable, absolutely amazing and would recommend getting one
I would use a zip tie to hold it in since it did not get a bigger hold down with it.
Firstly I want to say I love you guys you guys are awesome I love your content and I love the way you Interact ...Now on to your question I think it's unfair to ask which one we would choose the 144001 or the 124019.. I think we should be asking would you rather either one of those over there comparable LC racing cars.. But if I had to choose between the 144001 and the 124019 of course I would choose the 124019 because it's exactly the same except for a couple of upgrades like the metal hubs and it's longer and it's easier to work on.. And I bought them both
Thanks Anthony! Yeah, we also love the 124019 for sure, but knowing you bought both is just that much cooler 😎 The LC Racing brand is nice, but about double the price of these. Do you really think it is at least double the quality?
@@TheRcSaylors soooo.. I'd say if your a hobbiest who likes to "wrench" on their cars and doesn't mind putting say 50 bucks in a brushless upgrade the wltoys is for you. The LCs internals and suspension are more durable ill give them that. In the long run I still think the LC racing will last longer. If you put a brushless in Either WL toys buggies and run LC racing straight out the Box I do think the LC racing will last longer but it will be slower
Unfortunately, I do not own any RC cars but if I had to choose from these two, I probably would go with the 124019.
I got the smaller one today 😁😁.. is it worth it?
How did you go any good ?
See I just dont get how u like one buggy but not the other when they are the same just one is longer but I mean thats your opinion but I still love the channel u guys and it wont brake I have both and love both of them and merry Christmas
I’ve got the 144001 and love it. Decent on our local track. I may try the black buggy you will be getting. I’d like to see that on the channel. Also, I’ve got the 12428 and that is a blast too.
