So you can just dig the next turn and win, right? Iirc potions cancel/use truant turns (iirc switching out does too?) in gen 3, can dig under, miss attack, hit, truant, dig under etc. no?
iirc. this was a challenge where he took 1 damage on his pokemon every step and wasn't allowed to buy items (and a few other things like growing berries iirc. so there's no way to get infinite healing), so he absolutely needed absorb and mega drain to keep his pokemon healthy (as pokecenters are too far apart and he would faint before reaching the next pokecenter if his pokemon couldn't heal themselves). I believe he taught it dig specifically to counter Slaking, and leaf blade is kind of self-explanatory.
I remember this gym battle so vividly. The stupid Slaking used retaliate so many times, it was easily the hardest battle of the entire game and honestly the hardest battle I remember from any of the games I've played

3rd gen starters level up at 36. taking slaking down max gives him a full level from an empty xp bar.

Well he healed during his truant turn and he only had one dig left so he can avoid one attack but then something is going to get hit hard

If he is lucky he could make a crit leaf blade, with overgrown he 2 shot him, it's 25% chance per hit and he got two hits, so 31.25 %

I don't think Retaliate existed in Gen 3. Unless I'm mistaken, that was either a Gen 5 or Gen 9 move.
