For anyone born after the 80s I'll catch you up to speed. The 70s and 80s were decades of healing. People came together in music and film. But this caused politicians to lose their grip on the people because the divisions were beginning to disappear. Your skin color could not be weaponized to guarantee your vote. So the media and politicians went to work dividing people once again and it has worked like a charm.
I am 63 year old white woman from Alabama. Yes, it wasn’t a big thing for whites and blacks to be together back in the 70’s. I am not sure how the younger generations have become so segregated but it is sad to see.
There aren’t really any bands… it’s all about marketing the artist and the artist alone. It’s not like X band that came together organically. They just sign the artist and set them up with their own session musicians and stuff.
I'd agree @augustblue1297. I grew up in North Carolina and graduated from high school in '76. Blacks and whites mixed all the time. It was the music that brought us together!
We didn't see color back then, we PARTIED WITH EVERYONE!! It's soo sad to see how things are today in our country. I've been blessed to grow up in the 60s and 70s! KC & The Sunshine Band have oodles of GREAT songs like listed below. CHECK THEM ALL OUT!
Of course people saw color back then. Only difference is we didn't have social media to know what Every Joe blow down the street was thinking. now if people have issues everyone knows because of Twitter and other platforms..
Back in the 70's, we had blacks and whites playing no one cared. It was what it was. We all partied together in my town out skirts of Los Angeles. We just had fun!
KC & The Sunshine Band is an American disco & funk band from 1973. They had lots of dance hits such as "That's The Way I Like It", "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty", "Keep It Comin' Love", "Get Down Tonight", "Boogie Shoes", "Please Don't Go", "Give It Up" etc.
KC always shared the spotlight with his bandmates when he had more control over the production design. It was about having a great time with friends. And that came through with the music.
Many bands in the 50s, 60s, 70s had mixed band members..Black, White, Hispanic, Santana...Soul Sacrifice at Woodstock 1969.. And it's fine to think you thought KC was Black, I'm white and when the song came out I thought he was Black..Motown was really popular then.. Check out Al Green Live Soul 1927 Bee Gees cover.. How Can You Mend a Broken Heart..FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE. And When you feel like Jamming listen to Grand Funk Railroad Song...Inside Looking Out 1969. Enjoying your Channel
Back in the day, we all were together having fun. Bands were mixed. All this hate and division is part of a evil agenda to cause hate and destroy our society. We had a blast, blacks, whites, Mexicans, PRs, Cubans Asians. 70s preach love, soul and brotherhood. That's my memory.
I graduated HS in 1978 - I vividly remember the wide bell - bottom pants that you could try on without taking your shoes off! Also, you had to have them long enough that the back edge just touched the floor and hid your shoes!! Another couple bands from around that time with mixed race members were Three Dog Night, Thr Doobie Brothers and Santana!!
There were also pants called elephant ears that were even wider. Primarily women's pants. I remember flying to California at a time when you dressed up to fly anywhere. I had a pink "bodysuit" top with white "elephant ear" pants. I was 8 and thought I was so cool.
I miss the 70's like you can't imagine! The music, the trends, the fun, the freedom feeling, the movements, the clothes, the protests, the dancing, the disco's, & most of all, *we all just liked each other, without question* 💞Great reaction 💞
This group is right up there with the Bee Gees they are in the seventies. They have so many great songs like keep It coming Love, boogie shoes which is one of my favorites and they personify the seventies. 🥰🥰🥰
I think it is a sad commentary on our society today that folks are surprised to see folks of different races in a band together. We never thought anything of it growing up in the 70's and 80's. It just shows how segregated our society is becoming these days. Everything that we fought for in the past is being undone.
It seemed like race, sexual preferences, gender identity, none of this stuff was a focus or issue in entertainment back then. I often wonder if it’s because I was a kid back then and just blind to those issues or if we’ve truly moved backwards. All I know is I had a ton of freedom in those days from playing outside safely anywhere I wanted without having to report home until dark to not worrying that I was going to offend someone with every word I spoke. I know times have changed because my daughter has not had the same privilege.
@@LeaC816 with music, I don’t think it mattered. I don’t know about you but, some of my favorite bands were black. If the music moved me, I didn’t care. Heck, the first artist I was raised on was Charley Pride.
I saw them live in a dance club, they were fantastic. Best dance songs and party vibe, KC loved performing and it showed, the Subshine Band all amazing. We danced all night.
I feel you young people missed the best era of music. You have no idea how much fun we had dancing to disco. We dolled up every single night to go disco dancing. It was wild and crazy fun.

Yes there were some very famous bands that had mixed race bands. Check out Three Dog Night. Ah, the 1970's were great years for awesome music. KC & The Sunshine Band always had people dancing. I was 9 yrs old when this came out. This band played at my High School Grad Night in Florida back in 1977 at Disney world. It was a night to remember. This song makes you want to move ... and we loved to dance back then.
I absolutely love KC and the Sunshine band grew up with their music.. probably one of the most fun energetic bands I've ever seen.. I absolutely love your reactions I watch you all the time... I absolutely love when you do the Home Free reaction videos... You're awesome ☺️☺️
70s music is like any other. Everyone came together to celebrate not having to go to Vietnam. Draft ended in 1972. The best part of the 70s was the horn sections! That’s what I miss the most
KC and the Sunshine Band are amazing. They’ve also been sampled quite a bit. Harry Casey was one of the 70’s best songwriters. If you like “Only You” by 112, then you’ll love the song “I Get Lifted”.❤
KC is one of my favorites from "back in the day", my younger years. I even have a T-Shirt with the words from one of his songs "That's the way I like It". Got it at the concert LOL Seeing them live several years ago was a thrill! I wanted to stand up and dance from the balcony. LOL My hubby would be embarrassed if I did that. I used to live in the same city as them from their early days. Also the same venue were the Village People. I was in 70, 80's heaven.
They were a great group! Saw them in 76 at Grad nite at Disney world, up close! It was awesome! Lot of great songs! We didn't look at color the way it is today! Everyone just had a good time! I wish I could go back, such a better time!
🔥🔥🔥Yes more KC please and another group you would love is Creedence Clearwater Revival- Does not matter which song you pick you will be hooked on them for sure !!
My tenth birthday gift was seeing them at Six Flags, they were fantastic. The whole time they were performing, there were security guy's pulling passed out kids out of the crushing mob at the front of the stage. I'll never forget it, my first concert.
Really LOVE your reaction to this song! My 10th birthday, I got a portable record player and this album. Fell in love with this band! Roller skating to this song was the most fun thing ever. Brings back memories!
I'm 62 it never crossed my mind growing up music was always many races but I never gave it a thought...70's was more progressive inclusive mixing it all up girls could do more we embraced change and we loved music dance and we didn't have issues like today...Now 2020's on its considered strange or suprising... I loved the 60's and 70's the best.
Just from your question... I would highly recommend you check out the documentary "Muscle Shoals" ... offline not for reaction. Some folks might be shocked now days to see Aretha Franklin's studio band, etc... Any lover of music and music history should dig it.
I loved the disco sound. This album was gifted to me in 1974 when I was 10 by my dad. Love those horns & the slick outfits. "Boogie Shoes" is a song I still play on the jukebox if I go out. If people are smiling & digging the groove, I know they are a hip fun crowd.
I'm Your Boogie Man Keep It Coming Love That's The Way I Like It Please Don't Go Boogie Shoes Shake Your Booty Do You Wanna Party Anyone of these would earn KC a spot on your wall all classics
I enjoy your perspective and can assure you that back in 70s and 80s WE DID NOT CARE what your race, gender or any other factor. Musicians sought the company of other people who loved making music. I've been in bands with white, black and Asian(female bass player), hispanic of every seggsual proclivity. We DID NOT notice the superficial exterior of each other. ❤ 🤘
My man. You would have fit in perfectly back in them days. Today everyone is too cool to dance, but you were ready to throw down and get down. Great video man.
Check out, "Celebrate." The St. Louis Cardinals used it as "their" song when they won the 1982 World Series. It played everywhere in the STL area non-stop for weeks. KC and the Sunshine Band came to our Six Flags that year and I remember listening to them do "Celebrate" live while waiting in a long line for the nearby rollercoaster. Such nostalgia! Always a fun time with their music.
I saw in concert a couple years ago. Three hours of fun. Many many hits. One thing that K C said was it's more like KFC now. It didn't stop him from going the whole time with no long intermission in the middle.
We did not care if a musician was black, white or green back in the 70’s! This is why we had the best music!
Exactly!
I agree and we had lots of hope even if things still needed progress. It's going backwards now.
Facts!

My tenth birthday gift was seeing them at Six Flags, they were fantastic. The whole time they were performing, there were security guy's pulling passed out kids out of the crushing mob at the front of the stage.
I'll never forget it, my first concert.
I was sixteen years old when this came out
You're OUR "Boogie Man" AB! More, more, MORE! LOVE YOUR CHANNEL! ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ 😍 💖
Be still by little heart ❤…. Love kc and the sunshine band
Get ready to be Wowed!!! Lol saw them live at a Park in NC '77 b4 they got super huge! Best show to this day ive ever been to..and ive seen to ALOT!!!
One of my favorite songs by KC and the band ❤
In case you're wondering, he still tours! Go check it out, you might find he is coming to a town near you.
I loved the disco sound. This album was gifted to me in 1974 when I was 10 by my dad. Love those horns & the slick outfits. "Boogie Shoes" is a song I still play on the jukebox if I go out. If people are smiling & digging the groove, I know they are a hip fun crowd.
I'm Your Boogie Man
Keep It Coming Love
That's The Way I Like It
Please Don't Go
Boogie Shoes
Shake Your Booty
Do You Wanna Party
Anyone of these would earn KC a spot on your wall all classics
I know a few of their songs, but this is a new one for me too. Thanks for the fun reaction.
"Play That Funky Music White Boy".
Can't wait for your reaction on it.
Yes- most disco style bands were all colors! We all got down together- on and off the stage!
Everybody watched Soul Train & American Bandstand, They had everybody on those Shows, And we got our Groovy On !!!✌
i've watched a lot of vids with black folks doing response to older music and you are the BEST chair dancer yet :)
Nice shirt..I am 66 and loved Chiefs since 1968...great reaction, this song is brolliant
There are several. He is still performing to today. "That's the Way I Like It" it's the one I remember most. 70s had a few mixed races in the bands.
For a great integrated funk band, you must react to Sly and the Family Stone! Diff’rent Strokes; Stand, Dance to the Music, etc
The funk meter is about to explode!
How about that ending Sunday night? ❤💛😎💛❤
Next song.....Shake Your Booty.
My man. You would have fit in perfectly back in them days. Today everyone is too cool to dance, but you were ready to throw down and get down. Great video man.
KC and the Sunshine Band best dance band
and even your tshirt has KC on it 👯👯
7 top 10 hits 5 of which were number 1 hits!
You had me laughing through the whole song!!! You are fun to watch because you get it!!!!😅❤
Check out, "Celebrate." The St.
Yes back in that Era there were multi-racial musicians that performed together
Whatever the combo of people. It worked and they made good music and a lot of money.
Your Reaction is surprising. 70'S music was the greatest in many categories. Mixed races and all!
We that graduated in 70, didn't care what color as long as they could play and we could dance
In the 70s we never thought tribal black and white. Disco music United everyone. Today we are so divided which is sad that we are going backwards
One word ... Boogie Shoes. 😆
Get Down Tonight, Boogie Shoes, Shake, Shake, Shake.
Love your reaction! KC could move & sing like no one else. Kept the dance floor hopping with his music
Thanks for playing he has more great songs.
Black, white, whatever we all grooved together in the 70's.
Lol, I grew up listening this on classic radio, so I was VERY familiar with it... but now I can ONLY think of SWEEEEEEEEEEETNESS! 🍭
Boy we had the music 😊
I saw in concert a couple years ago. Three hours of fun. Many many hits. One thing that K C said was it's more like KFC now. It didn't stop him from going the whole time with no long intermission in the middle.
Anything by kc and the sunshine band is 🔥
They had the best horn section ❤️
