70s kid here, KC was a disco phenomenon..
Funny you should mention, KC & The Sunshine BAND were on Soul Train doing a different song because they were a force in the 70's ❤
My #1 guilty pleasure song! Don't listen to it without moving - you will explode
They have that hit song PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC WHITE BOY.
in the 70's - 80's we just danced to the music - black or white ~ didn't matter~!!!!! I loved Motown more than any other record label in this 60's - & I lived deep in KKK Louisiana South & my whole high school dances played more Motown than anything!!!!! Music is colorblind!!!
Was this their American Bandstand performance? I actually watched this LIVE! Man, I feel old now.
You HAVE to hear "I'm Your Boogie Man"!
This is the Miami sound of the mid 70’s including The Bee Gees. One of the trumpet player Paul was my neighbor.
It feels like Detroit in the 70s.....just takes me back....just like all good music does.
Grew up with KC, your moms my age you probably heard it growing up
To move like that while playing a those horns. Hats off.
American bandstand was the best way to see all the bands of the time
Kc And The Sunshine Bamd ia a band formed in 1973 in MIAMI FLORIDA and YES Wayne Casey is a white man that sings and make good funky music.
IT was a big hit at staking rings in the 70' 😊
It's the wonderful disco era
KC is white. I grew up in the 60's and 70's when the music was the greatest! I always loved to see the guys twirling their horns.
K C was on the top of all disco bands !
My 2 year old grandson makes me dance with him to this all the time. He loves it, and so do I 🙂
If you like this song, you'll love them all.
"Boogie shoes" was one of the songs from the movie "Saturday Night Fever".
Definitely a lost gem of the 70's.
This was performed on American Bandstand.
In the mid 70's & 80's on Saturday morning, you watched American Bandstand & then Soul train.
😊😊😊😊😊
As well on the Midnight Special 🙂
MOSTLY 70DZ
American Bandstand = Soul Train - melanin... It was around from the 50's(?) Definitely preferred ST, even as a pre-teen white youth in the Deep South... (although I'll be honest, I'd have been happy with more Scooby-Doo, Johnny Quest, or Thundarr the Barbarian)
and you got up at 6 to watch cartoons
Growing up, we'd watch American Bandstand, in the afternoon, after school.
Welcome to the good old days, when bands actually played instruments and singers actually sang
Aww the 70s you can't get no better
Lord, the times I danced to this in my bedroom, my hair brush was my mic. LOL
The music was considered Disco and Funk.
My childhood dancing in the disco's of Melbourne Australia late 70's.
Doesn't get any better than 70's music and I always think it's funny when reactors stop the video asking is KC white? Great band, great singer, great tunes.
hERE YA GO Soul Train Shake Your Booty KC & Sunshine Band
Back then teenagers were doing the “bump” at least that’s what my aunt and her friends were teaching me😂🎉
In my opinion...THE 70'S WERE THE BEST!
KC & The Sunshine Band were a hit machine. Hit after hit for a few years. KC was likely one of the highest paid entertainers of the 1970s.
I don't think so. Elvis was still at that time the highest paid entertainer.
@@dorindacunningham9452 You are correct about Elvis, but Ross did mention "one of..." not "the". He wasn't the King for nothing. 😀
Agreed!! LOVED them - soo many great hits. They are in my running play list. But I find myself wanting to stop and just DANCE! Lol
if you want more of Mr. KC check out "I'm your boogie man", "That's the way I like it", or "Put a little love in your heart".
Disco music! I love KC and the Sunshine band!
They are great!!
This is American Bandstand (AB).
KC is the white man. The quintessential disco band.
They were my first concert when I was 15 I am 60 now
Our college fraternity in 1976 started doing Beer Busts every Tuesday’s, where we rented a bar that had a large attached building. I recorded two 90 minute cassettes of nothing but dance music (disco’s we’re getting very big back then) and at 11:00 pm, we opened the door into the big room where we brought 4 big speakers, amplifier and cassette player and man, did the girls show up! We had at least four or five KC songs on those tapes, all which was basically disco music. We killed it for two years, as one night we went through 18 kegs! $5 all you could drink and dancing!
This was the Disco era.
That’s from American Bandstand!
It's Disco boogie baby oh yeah !
Take it to da house
American Bandstand started in Philly in the 1950's
thanks for letting me know!
This was American Bandstand, which goes back the 50's or early 60's. This song was on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, which is one of the best selling albums/soundtracks ever
Definitely a roller skating rink staple!!!
love that!!
Black n White,,
perfect mix bande sound!! 🙂
In clubs we would line dance just like in the movie "Saturday Night Fever" 😀
Yeah. It's imposible to be in a bad mood by the end of KC's music.
if you're 50 or older and you ain't roller skated to this you missed out on life as a young person.
KC & The Sunshine Band - I'm Your Boogie Man is a must listen.
Some great 70's songs to check out are The Rolling Stones. "It's only Rock n Roll", "Honky Tonk Women", "Jumping Jack Flash", "Angie", "Sympathy for the Devil"
KC and the Sunshine Band were on tv shows Midnight Special and Soul Train too. They had a lot of hit dance songs thru the 70s. Along with AWB, Wild Cherry and others, they were called Blue Eyed Soul back then. All their songs were catchy.
KC & The Sunshine band.
KC name is really Cassie. He still sings all his hit song with the band.
My favourate song is "That's the way I like it".
Listen to it. The groovy sound.
I saw KC as a teenager for free just playing like a street player at the youth fair in Miami
Welcome to my world 😊
The AB above the stage stood for American Bandstand. It came on just before the SOOOOUL TRAAAAAIN on Saturday at noon.
Earth, Wind & Fire vibes for sure!
The show was called American Bandstand. I watched it every Saturday. It was usually followed by Soul Train so I head a great time Saturday mornings.
Beyond Awesome ❤️🔥
I bet your mama put on her “Boogie Shoes” and went to the disco telling her friends “Shake Your Booty” and when they did she yelled “That’s The Way I Like It” uh-huh uh-huh. All 3 of these would also be good KC songs to check out.
KC is Harry Casey (KC stands for his last name) and he’s still at it, in fact, I have tickets to see them February 3rd in Hershey PA. Saw them forty some years ago and looking forward to seeing the geriatric version now. 🎶😁🎶
More KC. Get funky… I’m Your Boogie Man.
K.C. and the Sunshine Band were great back in the day I remember going dancing to this and also roller skating to it just great old school music.
American Bandstand was the original dance show that aired regularly in various versions from 1952 to 1989. Soul Train was the black version that focused on Black artists and music. After airing locally on WCIU-TV in Chicago, Illinois for a year, It aired in syndication from October 2, 1971, to March 25, 2006. Across its 36-year history the show primarily featured performances by R&B, soul, and hip hop artists.
Dick Clark hosted American Bandstand for years!! Every Saturday.
Britt should react to Dick's interview & performance with Captain & Tennille.
When i was kid in the 70s and early 80s; every saturday morning soul train came on right after band stand.
Well, let's come correct if we're gonna keep it a buck here, cool? The show most people know the name as "American Bandstand" did start in 1952. However, from '52 to '56 the TV show originally went by the name of simply "Bandstand." Which the original TV show host wasn't Dick Clark, it was originally hosted by a radio DJ named Bob Horn out of Philly. Clark replaced Horn just before the show was renamed to "American Bandstand." Just saying... +Peace Rock n' Roll 4 Your Souls My Friends+ 🤘😉🤘
When James Brown shouts you out in one of his songs, you’re a threat lol
From back in the day when bands were entertainers as well as good musicians.
This is straight from the depths of the Disco era. Its an iconic song.
KC killed in the 70s and still does today. He has some great dance songs that always got the party going
This performance was on American Bandstand (AB.)
This is a standard roller rink song. This & their song "I'm Your Boogie Man" (similarly catchy & the horn section is in sync in that video too--also bedazzled bell bottom pants). And yeah, the show is American Bandstand which was pretty much just like Soul Train but more Billboard top 40 pop music. And every week there would be a musical guest performing their latest hit. And they'd play new songs & have audience members rate if it was dance-able or not. The host was Dick Clark who hosted the New Year's Eve ball drop in Times Square, NY I'm pretty sure until he died.
Do you know Kool and the Gang? "Open Sesame" is great for letting the horns feature - a disco workout
KC and the Sunshine Band's songs always filled up the dance floor. Thanks Britt!
Holiday song request - Home Free doing the song "Do You Hear What I Hear". It's spectacular!
KC and the Sunshine Band is a deep rabbit hole!!!! Sooooo many hits! I'm Your Boogie Man, Get Down Tonight, so many others!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Yes we used to have actual musicians playing actual instruments
This is my childhood darling, amused to see we all can appreciate good music no matter what time has passed and color of the artist. We all have rhythm and soul, some of us just don’t recognize it. Love over hate is easier to say than to live.
Love this band!! 🎉🎉🎉 To many hits to mention them all....❤❤❤❤
American Bandstand with Dick Clark was the "light-skinned" 😉version of (the much later) Soul Train. "AB" began in the early 50's where as "ST" first aired in 1970 😍. I loved them both, but (of course) one gave more play to people of colour than the other (for various reasons) 🧐.
Thank you for explaining.
KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND WERE FROM MIAMI FLORIDA. THAT'S WHERE I LIVE. BRIT YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT ALL THEIR HITS!!!! YOU WILL LOVE ❤️ THEM!!!!!
Get down tonight is really a great one. They really dance it up. They had a bunch of hits.
I saw KC & the Sunshine Band in a club on Beale St. in Memphis back in the day.
Thx Brit! Yep been listening to this song my whole life!
The AB stands for American bandstand, a 70s music and dance show ( like soul train) .
His music is considered disco because of the era, but his influence is all blues music.
I love KC & The Sunshibe Band - c'mon Florida bands! (Lynard Skynard, Tom Petty, 38-Special, etc.) 💜💜✌😎🎵🎵🌼🌼
Back then we had real music ❤❤❤
If you were going to a school dance in the mid to late seventies you would dance to this song at least once. The band was very popular because they were easy to listen to and dance to. If you haven’t heard it yet the song “Play That Funky Music”, by Wild Cherry is a great song and another one that was popular at dances in the mid seventies.
I hope we get to see some more KC and The Sunshine reactions soon. I love their use of horns in their music. Oh, the AB in the background tells us this is "American Bandstand" which actually predates "Soul Train".
Love all KC’s hits!!
I’m Your Boogie Man is a must. I wish you had reacted to that one first, actually, for your first taste of KC and The Sunshine Band. 😊
This is on AMERICAN BANDSTAND a dance music show that was on well before and during SOUL TRAIN; it featured primarily top40 pop stuff, while SOUL TRAIN was primarily soul/R&B and top 40 but usually (but not exclusively) from the black perspective. they both came on Saturday afternoon where I grew up and by this time both shows were produced in Los Angeles. KC & The Sunshine Band (and any top 40 pop crossover Soul/R&B group) would frequently appear on BOTH shows.
This performance was on the American Bandstand. Britt if you enjoyed this check out "Get Down Tonight" (Live).
Yeah, you can see the "A-B" logo even through the blurred out window.
Family reunions, cookouts, weddings, soil train lines....this song was & had to be playing...such a good time song with LEGENDS performing this
OMG! I have heard this song in so long. This was the song back when I was in high school! Thanks for giving this song some new life!
They were on American bandstand, that was a TV show back then that was hosted by Dick Clark.
Yeah Britt...theys integrated.......😂😂
Chase down thier hits...Get down tonight and Thats the way(I like it)...bit more upbeat and they were huge hits in thier time.
The white guy is Harry Wayne Casey, pronounce his last name out loud ................ KC. And he was from Florida, the Sunshine State.
He can still rock it live on stage. Got to see them a few years ago in Florida, playing all my favorites. I was shaking my bootie in my seat. I think my husband was embarrassed. LOL I have one of the t-shirts of one of the songs "That's the way I like it" KC is white yes great musician and singer. I was rocking with them back in the day down in Miami Florida where I was living at the time back in my hay day. hahaha
Your Mom sounds pretty cool ! KC , the lead singer, real name is Harry
Take me back to school, Britt. KC was popular in the Disco era of the 70s. Right along with platform shoes and polyester clothes
They were on a dance show called American bandstand, Dick Clark was the host of the show. And yeah, it was a dance show pretty much like Soul Train.
great topic, my parents liked these topics, excellent video and reaction as always, girl from Uruguay 🇺🇾 greetings
So much fun in their music. This looks like an "American Bandstand" performance - that was the show that made Dick Clark a big deal.
