praise God! Christianity is NOT a religion...but God's phenomenal redemption work. Taking a sinful fallen being and radically transforming them back to what God had originally intended that we see in Adam before he fell. Friends, if we miss THIS...we miss the whole point! And then it's just another religion!

But we should be applying it to OUR culture today. The Bible is written to everyone in every age/time period. Our culture is really not that different. We have advanced technology, but the issue of sin and the things that stumble human beings is still the same.

Exactly! This is the meaning behind the 7th day "rest". WE rest from OUR works, as we allow God to work in us and through us. You and I are "righteous"...but it's not OUR own righteousness, but Gods! (Phil 3:9, 2 Cor 4:7)

Paul wrote that (quote) "may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ". 2 Cor 11:2 To put it in Tim's words...to get us to 3rd grade. But we are not to remain 'children' in Jesus...but to grow up to be mature believers. 'Mature' means to have spiritual discernment, living/having a lifestyle pleasing to God, that sinning is dropping off (we NEVER become sinless in this life)...but we can sin less, than before. Having more faith and confidence in Christ. Essentially, the Bible says we are rewarded for this in Heaven. These are not "self" works, but the work of the Spirit. Spiritual growth means that our character and thinking is shaped less like the world, and becomes more like Jesus. Paul wrote in Romans 12:1-2 Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the re-newing your mind." In other words, let Jesus form your world-view.
things to know when reading the Bible: 1) it is written to everyone, but it is about how God is making "MAN" in his image and likeness: 2) After Noah, he divides the world into nations through his three sons and Abraham comes through "SHEM" (Jews call God haShem, THE NAME) 3): Through Abraham, the father of "MANY" nations, comes the PROMISE, the SEED of the woman which is also the SEED of Abraham: 4) This seed is sown among the HEART (Israel is the heart of the temple, the INNER COURT, HOLY PLACE) and brings forth Messiah through Judah 5) Israel had been divided after Solomon 10 and 2 tribes, the 10 in exile pushed together till they become ONE STICK with Judah at the end of the world, end of time, last generation) 6) ONE STICK is the cross where Christ is born in the city of David/Judah Ephratah, (I sense where Ephraim and Judah meet because David (Mary and Joseph) go down to Egypt (a second time) to call Gods son (Israel, Ephraim his first born) out of Egypt. Here it is written in Revelation, Egypt and Sodom are spiritually where our Lord was crucified: 7): Paul is the last tribe of Israel who is gathered and according to Gen 49, would bring ISRAEL together with the NATIONS so he gets FIVE times the GRACE to finish the work of bringing the PROMISE TO ABRAHAM to fruition. Father of "MANY nations" 8) The nations are grafted into the COMMONWEALTH of Israel and then when God brings Israel back from exile at the END OF TIME GEN 49, the nations are Resurrected WITH ISRAEL when he takes the dead branches the nations are grafted into, back to LIFE, hence the tree of knowledge of good and evil becomes the "TREE OF LIFE" in us through Christ: 9) Paul (little) had to be born from above (knew a MAN in Paradise) to understand his brothers, including what a JEW is, by himself being DIVIDED among himself as Israel and his lower members the nation he was found in during his VISITATION which is ROME, making him a Jew a Hebrew, an Israelite and a ROMAN: SO he understood all parts of himself. 10) He called his GENTILE nature is LOWER MEMBERS but what are these?
