  • THE DIVINE DISCONNECT
(AN EXPLORATION OF THE BOOK OF ECCLESIASTES)
    -----
The hardest thing in life is to live well. We need a guide who will help us understand why so much of existence is marked by weariness and frustration. The power of Ecclesiastes is that we are taken by the hand into life under the sun so that we might understand the dangers of seeking meaning and fulfillment without the one who created us. This book offers no cheap answers but confronts the harsh realities of life head-on? Why? To show us that what gives our life meaning is connection to our God.

This video is an answer to prayer. I have struggled with control my entire life. Trying to perform so I can control how God will bless me. Overseeing way too many situations in my family to control the outcomes. This biblical concept is so important yet not spoken of very much, or maybe I just wasn’t listening.
Thank you Tim for your wisdom and your dedication to teach Gods Word.

I am listening to this in my sixties, and ah yes I am not about to retire. The teaching is wisdom for my journey ahead, learning not hold on so tightly and letting God take control. Looking forward to enjoying my work.
Thank you Tim for explaining the words of the teacher to me.

When I read this book I exhaled! I thought I was missing something major because I felt like the preachings, my experience and written word weren't working, and I was crazy. Thanks for or this teaching.

I’m so glad I found you. Finally someone who can answer questions and pose new questions instead of the blah blah dogma grind. I’ve found most preachers/teachers can’t answer basic questions.

This lesson seems very good for those who have had big expectations of their talents or looks and then somehow things got foiled and disappointment sets in at an older age. This is a good approach to handling those failures and accepting them because we andGod remember we are dirt, dust and we return back to the soil. I think Hollywood and such give us the dilutions that we are to have this wonderful and fulfilled life and end up somewhere in perfection and bliss. Since Jesus is there in our suffering the opportunity in suffering and failure is the draw closer to God and even humble us and we truly discover who we are as a human in the Hands of Jesus. Ive seen several people who I thought were educated, talented and good looking come to a sad revelation in their lifes end. But maybe this is Gods way to give us hope. IMHO. I don't know. i could be wrong.

Wow. I'm into Ecclesiastes. I need this Wisdom literature. I need to know that just because I can't always see that there IS more to life than hevel, does NOT mean that there is not more. Much more. Wow. I have been searching for this message, for Ecclesiastes. Thank Door of Hope for not avoiding this beautiful, profound, dark book.

    This is the same idea:
Happiness and freedom begin with a clear understanding of one principle: Some things are within our control, and some things are not. It is only after you have faced up to this fundamental rule and learned to distinguish between what you can and can't control that inner tranquility and outer effectiveness become possible.

Wow! Thank you! I finally get it! I got it early in life in many ways, but not this book. I had a lot of kids, from other moms, with many issues including medical. I had to learn to make plans A-Z because rarely could i plan the time, etc. I could switch to a different mode or get hysterical. I even got a separate phone line for medical only! My poor sis could not, would not be flexible and had a heart attack at 40 and several near death car accidents...her fault, and died in despair at 52! Her sad life taught me a lot, too.i so frustrated her without ever meaning to. I was just not rigid, but she needed that. Getting cancer and complications totally wiped out any sense of control and was very hard, and led me to despair for a while, but God used it. So many incredibly unique happenings keep reminding me to give up control and wait on the Lord in joy. He has this. Thank you so much for this insight. Now i can enjoy this Book.

Is there anything that could happen that could prove that the Christian God doesn't exist or that he's a liar? It seems like a lot of religious stuff is there to justify literally anything that could happen. Life is going well? A gift from God. Life isn't going well? He is teaching you something, or maybe you just aren't meant to understand. If there is literally nothing that could happen that would disprove the Christian religion, then how can I have any expectation at all about what God is like or what he will do or what I'm supposed to do? If I can't have any expectations about any of these things, then what am I even doing as a Christian? I find all these untestable promises without any evidence of them in my own life very unsatisfying.

He is not polar - he is stating facts. This world works outside the will of God & is in a fallen nature. We do not reach our fulfillment in it....but there are things to enjoy.
Jesus said the same- don't lay up your selves treasure on Earth where rust and moths ruin them. This realm is temporary - hevel...he us just unveiling our denial & the lie of the evil one. God, however, has not abandoned us; His good creation, even though its groaning, is still provision, & we have to contend with the thorn & thistle

Sir Garrington lol. Out of a 48 minute sermon filled with good advice and unpacking a complicated book of the Bible, you choose to nitpick that? Sir.. why?

I know Sir Garrington, getting old with the wrong mindset, stinks. But, if one doesn't die young, we'll all get old.
