kids.... The Leo2 was designed during the peak of the cold war... its major goal was to slow down huge enemy armored attacks and channel them into traps ... for that it needed to be very fast reverse... to stay ahead attacking forces and always keep its front facing the enemy... in German it is called Verzögerung (delay tactic) the most difficult tank maneuver that exist, plan is to make contact with the enemy and drag the enemy into the direction you want him... if everything worked lure him into a trap were for example infantry units could attack the weak flanks of the attacking tanks with hand held anti tank weapons, or with larger ATGM...or a other tank unit was waiting for a flank attack into the enemy side. All T-Series tanks are completely useless for such scenarios, with a max reverse speed of 4km/h they would be overrun by enemy or worse they need to turn around and show their weak rear if they needed more speed ,,, this is one of the things no technical datasheet tells you but that are the differents between a average tank and a good tank
Really ???? Have you not been paying attention to what is happening in Ukraine ??? These are the tactics the Ukrainians used (NATO) and failed miserably. Drones and artillery rule. Tanks have been reduced to what made the "Stug" famous ...... infantry support. Times have changed, my friend ....... and the Russians are leading the world in this new endeavor. They are cutting edge in aerial denial, counter battery fire and missiles. They also do something the "West" does not understand. They do not fight and waste resources on "real estate". The Russian tactics and strategy focus on the destruction of enemy forces, not land. Having said all that, this is a great video and the Big Cat is one of my favorite pieces of armor. It is deadly and absolutely beautiful to look at and watch in action. Thanks to the folks that posted it !!!!!!!! 🙂
I assume the Danish tank drivers are learning to use the rear view camera at different speeds and locations. The A7 got an optical upgrade also for the driver...or, any comments ?

Practice. Being proficient in reverse maneuvering is crucial. Anyone can drive forward, but when you need to get out of a dangerous situation in front of you, reverse is the only viable option.
@@Ganiscol Do you know if the driver can see backwards in the A7? The periscopes are only at the front, so driving backwards, the driver doesn't see anything (unless there is a camera in the back nowadays).
@@PA3GUQ since the A5 they have a cam ... till the A4 the TC had to guide the driver ... feels wired if you drive 30km/h reverse and you just follow order links or rechts anziehen ...totaly trust your TC or the TC need to totaly trust the driver
Reverse driving to keep the frontal armor facing the threat. High skill.
"If you want to know why they drive backwards? Ask a russian tankcrew in heaven." 🤣
Also ask the smelting Leopard 2 that got hit.
7 km in reverse
truly magnificent machines
Thanks for sharing Christian
Important exercise! This needs to be in your muscle memory when in battle. Can be challenging!

why almost constantly driving backwards? 3:15...I think that tank should check tracktension or bearings?

I'm gonna try this tactic on war thunder on leopard 2A7
👍👍👍
Diese Panzer fahren ja nur rückwärts! Vorwärts Kameraden, es geht zurück ... 😂
So die Absicht!
most important skill and most difficult to perform... delay tactic... lure the enemy into a trap
Warum fahren die immer rückwärts
Sie üben Rückwärtsfahrt.

Is this reversed footage?
no, reverse driving to keep the frontal armor facing the threat.
Ich liebe panzer. Geil.
this is just rewind!!!!
The best tank in the world. They can go forward too!
Withdrawal exercise? could be the wrong signal😉😁
