This has to be the best video i've seen in the history of youtube. Very niched, but extremely well explained and useful. Love your calming voice! Thank you for making this!
Excellent video, and very entertaining! I never knew about the hidden one on stage 4. I have some additional tips and tricks I'd like to share with you all. Stage 1, Chest #4: It's easier to do it like KZ-Revia did in the video, but interestingly, you don't have to go inside the gate to get this chest. It's tricky (and dangerous), but you can actually jump over the gate without landing on the platform above, and the chest will still appear, then you can double-jump to the platform above. You can also approach from the other end, but it's even more dangerous due to the fireballs. Stage 2, Chest #6: Stand in the position at 9:14 in the video, above the swinging pendulum, and jump INTO the gap. It looks like you will fall into the water, but you can double-jump safely onto the lower platform, and if you do it right, you will trigger the chest. Just time your jump so that you don't accidentally jump into the pendulum! Stage 2, Chest #8: Stand near the right edge of the screen, about half a jump or so away. No need to jump in order to find this chest - it will trigger when you rise to the top. If you're scared of the oncoming fish, just fire your weapon like mad and you shouldn't get hit. Stage 2, Chest #10: The spot to trigger the chest is just above the short pillar of coral to the right of where the green fish monster appears. The easiest way is to ride the raft across the top of the pillar as the wave carries you up. Stage 3, Chest #6: Instead of jumping onto the ride, stand back and aim your jump so you just miss the ride, and allow yourself to fall just below (and to the right of) the platform you jumped off of, then double jump back to safety. Watch out for the bats though. Stage 3, Chest #8: Like the video says, it's hard to tell exactly where to jump, but it's usually immediately to the left of the second or third goblin that drops, assuming you don't stop too much along the way. Do a single jump straight up to be safe, and if you don't find it at first, just keep moving a few steps, stopping, and single-jumping vertically until you find it. Stage 4, Chest #5: You don't have to jump over the spikes. Notice the chest appears at the exact moment Arthur jumps in the video. In the area where the chest appears (see the video for reference), walk to the edge of the row of spikes to the left of the chest (17:07), and do a single vertical jump. Stage 6, Chest #5: unless your version of the game is different from mine, you don't have to jump back over the gap for this one. The trigger point is at the top of the leftmost column in the background, where the left edge of the platform is. Stand at the base of the column, double-jump straight up, and the chest will appear.
Going back to try to beat this game as an adult, and this guide is super helpful. So far I've made it to the ice stage... farther than I've ever gone. =D
@@eyitsmattyyy616 , not yet. Haven't had much time to put into it lately. So far I've made it to the part of the stage with the respawning ice worms. Not giving up though! Oh, and I'm also not using save states, so it will obviously take a lot longer haha. Once i get the previous stages down it will be a lot faster to get to that point.
i just played the game through to the first ending that warps you back to the beginning and then quit i can't fathom what these people were thinking when they decided to make this game so brutally difficult i found a ROM hack called Super Arthur that at least allows you to switch between weapons with L and R and when you get hit it downgrades your armor instead of just stripping you naked, so i might try playing through that one all the way along with this chest guide
What a awesome video. I often wondered where all the chests in the all stages were for the longest time. You didn't just show where the chests were but how to get them to spawn also, which I haven't seen before. Great job.
I have found two ways to get the 1-UP and still complete the stage. Stage 2-1: When you jump off the dock and onto the ship at the beginning, keep running back and forth, fighting ghosts on the bowsprit. You should have at least 1:30 left on the clock by the time you get the 1-UP, which is enough time to get to the checkpoint and reset the clock, if you're quick enough. This is also a good way to hone your combat skills if you're a new player. Stage 3-2: As soon as the clock resets after landing on the first tower, make your way through the stage as fast as you can. You have time to get the chests throughout the stage if you want, but don't spend more time than necessary. You want to get to the final tower before the boss (the one with the downhill slant). The hobgoblins (or whatever they are) that drop from above appear so rapidly that you should have plenty of time to get the 1-UP and still defeat the boss. Just be careful not to go all the way to the end of the platform before you get the 1-UP, or the enemies will stop spawning and won't come back. Note: these strategies will not work on Beginner mode since the enemies will spawn less frequently. Edit: Extra tip - if a stage 3 goblin-thing is dropping straight down on top of you and you don't have time to get out of the way, you can actually hit them ABOVE you if you throw your weapon just before they hit you on the head. The torches and axe are especially good for this, but even weapons like the dagger and lance actually fire just above your head if you look closely.
I feel so vindicated. The ice level is the biggest reason I came here. I found those first two chests and because every other level they pop up pretty regularly, I thought I wasn't finding them. I did learn a few I didn't know already though, 1 in 2-2, one in 3-1 and 3-2, one in 4-1, and the first one the magic doesn't work on in 7.
The "Red Arremer" really should be called "Red Devil" in all the American versions, since that name makes much more sense. That's precisely why Ted Woolsey translated the weird name "Zagrem" in Final Fantasy 6 as "Brawler".
You know, a big reason I watched this video is to see the trigger point for the chest at 16:34. I tried so much and never found it. Did you try going through the wall? My (as a gamedev) guess is that it was placed incorrectly.
I came home from school 1 day when I was in the 3rd grade and this game was waiting on the kitchen table for me. I've gotten pretty damn good at this game in my life. And the secret chest does have a trigger but it's inside the wall.
No wonder the Super NES Player's Guide had a drawn picture for this instead of a screenshot. Even the writers of the guide couldn't get this thing to spawn. I would imagine they had information from CAPCOM confirming that it exists, at least.
¡Mystery revealed! Guys, here Is a video in Spanish explaining the missing trigger for the 4-4 chest. Even if you don't speak the language, you can try UA-cam subtitles and automatic translation.

Terrific walk through. Very well explained and demonstrated.

This helps a great deal especially for the ones where you need to jump to a non-obvious area. Thank you.

Been having trouble finding the chest. Thanks for the help
Super helpful!
I WILL beat this game!
Thanks I’m about to start this game today and I need all the help I can get! Wish me luck!
I always took the upper path on level 1 number 10 and missed the chest. It requires precise timing of a double jump to avoid the skull carriage.
Me too! Never occurred to me to go below!

Thanks for the vid. Im working on on this game and can’t find a lot of videos on these treasure chest👍🏼

It isn´t a devil, but a demon, as you can see.

Great upload, hopefully this will help me to get the 1CC 2-ALL soon (:

Is there a way to actívate It without cheats?
If there Is, do you know how?
Can you teach us?
I would have a drink with you and play some bideo games. Thanks for the help man

Amazing! Super helpful!
Great walkthrough (even though I apparently found them all by myself)
very useful, thank you :)
13:29 you missed 1 at the top of those ladders mate
100% Skill
you make this look so easy.... I hate you! but yes, you rock!
Is this your favourite snes game?
Yes, one of them. I made videos about it because it's the only one I'm not bad at.
When you fast forward does the game play itself?
I think he's just speeding up the video
@@kaldo_kaldo I don't even know why I asked that LOL!! 😂
