I 've watched your guides so many times but i still somehow manage to suck so much at fire mage and it frustrates me alot : im 420 ilvl and i cant seem to pull more than 60 k overall in m+ in a +12 key and if i swtich to frost i do aprox 90 k overall. I don't know what the heck am i doing wrong or is it that fire requires more uptime to ramp up and maybe mobs die too fast and i dont have time to ramp my ignites in lwoer keys or i may just suck but i'm honestly feeling close to quitting fire mage cuz i feel it's not for me.Also im aprox at 26% haste 38% crit and like 18% mastery whould any stat change matter like getting more haste or more mastery? i dont know ..im kinda desperate for help
Thx for the guide! I didn't know that I shouldn't cast combustion during SKB combustion, thx! Shoudn't I cast Time Warp just before I cast combustion? not at the beginning of the fight
Nah you want to do it at the start of the fight. The rune of power firestarter setup is still A LOT of dmg. its pretty much the same as combustion, only difference is the crit -> mastery conversion part missing, the rest is basically a combust tbh so its still worth time warping and even potting that potentially
I still dont really get why we cast fireball in the combust window now, wouldnt scorch just be more efficient? Also do you only do that in double lust or also without lust?
Ill break it down: Scorch's cast time is 1.5s. The global cooldown is also 1.5s. At 100% haste (and above), the global cooldown stops at 0.75s so you cannot cast anything on the global cooldown more than every 0.75s. However, scorch's cast time still keeps going down. Above 100% haste a few things happen: - You cannot do Scorch -> Hot Streak Pyro and have scorch go off before pyro because the GCD is capped at 0.75 but scorch isnt. This means you can never cast scorch pyro combo. - Since you cannot cast anything faster than every 0.75s, scorch being at 0.6 or whatever doesnt matter, its basically 0.75 effectively. - Fireball continues to get shorter and shorter cast time even above 100% haste but because its a longer cast time, as scorch stops at 0.75, fireball gets closer to 0.75 which means that the gap gets closer. The damage of fireball is obviously much higher and since the gap between their cast times gets less, it becomes more worthwhile to cast. I hope that explains it :)
I am trying to check warcraftlogs to see the order of spells they cast like you did in this video however i don't get that timeline at all. how do you get it?
Appreciate the guide, coming back to playing mage as an alt after a long time away from it. Is it normal for fire to feel very crappy until you get higher ilvl or in higher keys(20+)? d
Hey :) sorry for the late reply! Yeah fire mage is not amazing below the 20 level but especially on tyrannical. The most important thing is for mobs to be able to live your entire combust + time for ignite after that (probably in the realm of 15-20s). If mobs are dying faster than that I dont really recommend fire for keys :(
what would you say is like the minimum amount of haste for fire to feel good to play? I am hesitant to recraft for fire as I am doing Raz and Ive pulled it only as arcane but im thinkin about swapping to be a bit tankier with cauterize and such. Plus I just enjoy fire more and trying to be perfect with arcanes timers when u get mechanics and such as well as trying to live through everything is a huge pain in the ass whereas combustion I can kinda jsut turn my brain off and go.
Well if you want optimal DPS you dont play cauterize but in a vacuum, fire is pretty rough to play before 25% haste. I would stick to arcane imo for Raszageth. That spec is way too good at taht fight if played right. Arcane is very tanky with mage armor being a -15% DR on magic dmg on a 25s DR. Its very powerful for 1 hits like static charge or volatile spark.
Shifting Power does absolutely dogshit damage. Also, first ROP is not a loss because of firestarter. You get 100% crit chance, full feel the burn, and rune of power. What is the difference between this and combust? (the answer is nothing)!
To pick Cauterize, why not take out a point from "Flame on" instead ? 1 point of Fire Mind is a straight 3% damage boost. I'm not sure Flame on is that high of a value. Same for Phenix flame's charge, its probably a 2.3% DPS boost, not as valuable as Fire Mind i'd say. What do you think ?
I definitely wouldnt drop flame on that sounds real bad. Phoenix flame charge is ok to drop instead of firemind on single target yes. On AoE its closer, but you can probably still drop phoenix flames charge instead of firemind if you prefer but they are about the same.

Mages became so complicated to play recently. With less effort i do much more damage with my rogue than my mage for example. Balance druid the same. Time to forget mage i think, since im not seeing any mage rework income.
Hard specs are fun to play tho ^^ Keep in mind that my guides will always be more advanced as I raid in a top 20 guild and I strive to be #1 so i will always present more advanced content than your average joe guide maker
@@andreware2039 Worst thing about frost that needs to be changed is the travel time/distance shenanigans of flurry and frostbolt. Example: Frostbolt Flurry Shimmer IL IL will cause 2nd IL to not shatter because after shimmer all 3 flurries will land b4 frostbolt and thats bad. Some other minor examples like this but yeah frost defo needs some assistance in the QOL department. I like the other two specs
thank u professor gandalf archmage of the desert u will defend us from the dark lords
Thank you so much for this man. Haven't played fire mage in a long time, and this has to be the best information I've seen for this spec. Tytyty
just switched to fire mage from ww and this is so much more intensive lol so many combos to learn
Thank you for this guide! Contains so much helpful information.
Right as i fully recrafted everything for fire mage, love you bro
YESSSSS THE FORGY GUIDES RETURN
Was waiting for this, thank you so much forgy

What do you think of fire for birdieboss mythic prog
If you are really really bad at arcane then maybe its ok but arcane by design is much better at that fight
Can’t seem to get the double pyro off on the no heating up skb after the scorch fire blast. Any help?

@@MrPinguinReaper Yep, its just fireball in DOUBLE lust otherwise just scorch :)

You go into Casts (same row as damage done) and then Timeline (above, to the right, where Table, rankings, etc is)

Your first fluctuating power not hitting on your combust / rop is kinda a loss no ?

you always double lust yes
