Concerts for the People of Kampuchea was a series of concerts featuring Wings, Queen, the Clash, the Pretenders, the Who, Elvis Costello, and many more artists which took place at the Hammersmith Odeon in London during December 1979 to raise money for the victims of war-torn Cambodia. This was the last time Wings performed together.

Always enjoyed this chapter in Paul’s life … reminds me of a simpler time just about to become a teenager with floor to ceiling posters of Wings and The Beatles in my bedroom growing up in Southern California.
Thanks for the video..Wings was one of favorite bands growing up...I still have my Wings Over America album which I love...great to see Paul playing and singing with his awesome band. ❤
What great vocals and bass work.
Thanks Jon for another great video. Looking forward to you covering Wings from 1971-1979, from the album "Wild Life" through "Back to the Egg".
I never did see Wings but did see Paul McCartney (wingless) at the SkyDome in Toronto in 1989. WINGS OVER AMERICA is one of my favourite live albums. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks Jon! Keep ‘em coming!
Thanks for sharing this better quality version mate. One day (I hope), Paul will release this & the other clips he did in this period in HQ as maybe part of his 'Back to the egg" Deluxe set. All the best. GAZ (Melbourne/Australia_
I agree! That would be an amazing release. I sometimes daydream about being Paul’s archivist and all the stuff I’d suggest for release! Thanks for watching!
@@JonBlackstone Dream on... Like I always do.
Great video. Thanks for posting. But did I see a mis-match in the vocals at 9:55. He says "nearly" before the chorus, but his lips don't move. Overdubbed in the studio, possibly, or he did sing the word "nearly" without moving his mouth.

Thanks for watching!
Wow, his voice his amazing here. He's about the same age here as Adele is now!
LAST FLIGHT needs to be OFFICIALLY RE-MIXED and RELEASED!
Steve Holley on drums still playing now with Ian Hunter have know him and family since we were kids
Alright! Jon Blackstone has dropped another vid. Thanks Jon.
Thanks for watching!
Somewhere kicking around I have my Concert for Kampuchea double album….howcum it’s never been rereleased?
Is t this the Kampuchea performance? I had it on vinyl and sounds exactly the same. Band is hot, guitarist top notch and Paul’s bass sounds fab as well as his voice
Saw Wings Edinburgh Odeon 1979. Think ticket was £5.50. what a bargain !!!
Quite. Not worth mentioning how much I paid to see him in Manchester before Xmas…. was still great though!
R.I.P. Denny & Linda.
Jon, you are a an experienced and knowledgeable music journalist. I wanted to ask you what your thoughts are about George Michael who passed away a few years ago. Here in the UK over Christmas he was back at number 1 in the music charts with Last Christmas. How does he honestly compare with the other big music artists that you often write about? Was he somewhat over-rated? What is your assessment?
Too bad this tour did not make it to U.S. It is a good lineup, and Paul's voice is in top form. Just read "The McCartney Legacy Vol. 2, 1974-1980," which puts this part of his life in context.
Just a bit of trivia…do you know what Paul was referring to when he wrote this song? It wasn’t about getting a girl into his life… he was talking about marijuana! Funny, but true! 😊
This is definitely Kampuchea show. Paul's answer to George's Concert for Bengala Desha show. And another failed attempt for a Beatles Reunion.
Welcome to the Midnight Maccaney!..
HORNS!
Why only 1963-69?
Sorry there was a technical glitch! This is supposed to be titled, “Paul McCartney and Wings Live 1979”.
@JonBlackstone I was sure there was some kind of problem. 😁 It's 1979, and he's still the best rock vocalist 😂
When McCartney was still at his very peak. That’s the benefit of hindsight.
He is a very talented man, but still - let’s be honest.
He plays with a karaoke band now
@@johnurban7333No he doesn't, he plays with a very good band now!
@@thumbsaloftthey sounded fantastic when I saw them before Xmas. Raw and guitars were very loud.
This sounds like an actual band instead of the tribute band he plays with now
I've seen them for myself, they don't sound like a so-called tribute band at all!
Real “Wings” requires Joe English, Jimmy McCullough, and the RICKENBACKER…
I have seen Paul with his current band 5 times and he was fantastic and his band was fantastic too.
that was 46 years ago...
