I love this boot but it is total overkill for me. I ride a sport bike and mostly in the city. If only they made a more casual and summer orientated version that wasn't waterproof :(

You said the Alpinestars ran true to size! Only if you have super skinny feet!

eVent is better at breathability than GTX.

I wanted to love these boots.
I'm also a 10.5 (43/45 in Euro), but I had to go up to 11.5 in these.
They're heavy. I haven't found them to be nearly as comfortable as Brandon. The BOA system can be particularly uncomfortable snugged against the knuckle above your arch. There's also a lot of travel around the calf, since the BOA doesn't go that high. They feel a bit sloppy to walk around in. I've had them a few weeks, and I haven't yet dialed in the snug enough without putting too much pressure on my arch knuckle or interrupting circulation.
I like the quickness of the BOA system, and I hope it's more robust than a zipper. I also like the pull loops on the sides. Both zippers and pull loops can be the first things to go on other boots.
I haven't gone hiking in them yet, but since they haven't been very comfortable to walk in, I don't have high expectations.
My Falco Rangers were better boots: both more comfortable and better looking. I just wish they had lasted longer. I thought a BOA hiker might be a good replacement, but the Klims don't come in a size that fits my feet, and these Icons are heavy, sloppy, and not very comfortable.

some reviews say it has a terrible odor out of the box that last for weeks. Has that been your experience.

Can you confirm if these have a steel shank? Video says yes but can't find that info anywhere else.

Not waterproof at all. Went through rain and got soaked. Very comfortable all day boot but NOT waterproof.
