Looking for moto-protection for your feet, but not a full-size boot that looks more like a cast? Enter short boots and riding shoes. These protective essentials are easy to live with, thanks to their light weight, solid impact/abrasion resistance, and less-than-hardcore styling. From shoes you could wear into the office, to abbreviated sport boots, to ADV workhorses, Anthony’s got a complete lineup for those living the low-cut life.
I've had my SMX 1 R Airs for a little over a year now, and they''re amazing. I commute in them, ride on the weekends in them, and recently, I've done some lightweight touring in them. They've handled everything me or the weather has thrown their way with absolutely no issues at all. Great boot.
I purchased the TCX air version based on Anthony`s review and this shoe performs better than I expected. The perforated leather really lets the air in. The width is a wide D and is very comfortable. This shoe does take some time to break-in as it is stiff. You won`t be disappointed.
Does it have toe protection?
The toe area is reinforced on the outer rim and extends about only 1" onto the top of the toe. The heel area and both sides of the ankle have more area protection.
Hi, you mean street ace the one from this video?
Hello my friend. Will my feet sweat if I wear these tcx boots in summer? Is it suitable for 15 - 35 degrees C in the city or outside the city? I use Vespa between April and September. I am looking for safe 3 season boots. Thank you.
@@Murat1982turkey I have the "air" version of these boots and they are amazing on keeping your feet cool. I cannot comment on the 'ace" version because I do not have them. I would guess that anyone's feet would sweat in these with summer temps.
Bought the TCX Street Ace, amazingly comfortable and durable
I’ve got TCX street ace WP and Air. Would buy again without hesitation.
If you don’t like the dirty looking white sole, I bit of isopropyl on a rage wipes it off to a gleaming white
Good review, Anthony. I have the benefit of traveling to Asia often on business, and I have had 2 pair of handmade boots done for me in Seoul. I get a ribbon of extra leather fit across the top of the left boot for my gear shifting. Total cost about $85 USD custom made- can’t beat it! 🏍👍🏍
Makes you wonder why boots made cheaper, poorer quality and en masse in other asian countries cost 2, 3, 4... times more.

Anthony reminds me of Tommy from Power Rangers
4 years later and I still don’t think there’s a bigger complement
I have the Icon 1000 Truant Boots. Had them for years, well worn for my foot and it gives me a great sense of protection whenever I ride. I like the TCX boots though,I think those will be my next ones!
Helpful video! Thanks for mentioning CE ratings and showing the shifter side for some of the boots also.
Have the forma adventure low boots in brown they are amazing, stylish, comfy and offer lots of protection! Been using them for a few years now
Hey, I use CAT (caterpillar) T1086 Boots. Do you think that’s good enough? It’s a heavy duty short boot
I couldn't find that shoe on Amazon to look out, but for whatever it's worth..
I considered using a pair of boots, Company: "Shoes For Crews" (good quality stuff) , Model: "Mammoth III" , it has steel toe, it has slip resistance, it's waterproof, it's comfy and not a sweat factory..
BUT, it doesn't have protection for the side of your ankle, the back of my calf, or my shin *besides some shoe rubber,* *it does provide protection to the Achilles heel though. Something I learned is a lot of injuries from accidents are actually ankle/leg related.
I found a pair of Alpinestar Tech 7's for $187, if you have a giant foot and don't have the money to fork over at the moment of reading this, yeah, work boots should suffice, will they protect the boney parts of your ankles? No guarantee, will they protect your shin? Very unlikely, but will they grip a motorcycle peg? Yeah.
Edit: To clarify the conclusion, I'm saying if you have giant feet and can't find a reasonable priced PROTECTIVE motorcycle boot, sure, work boots work for now, but they aren't as intended to protect ankles as much as just toes. If you have a "normal" foot size, well, you have a ton of options to choose from, no excuse to not be safe(r).
I've got both the SMX1-R in full black and Adventure Low boots in black. I love both pairs of boots.
I bought the Alpinestars as I needed something comfortable and slim for my new to me Honda 600F.
I was tossing up between them and their full length counterpart but I needed something I could wear all day so of course the short boot won out, especially because I was after a cool (temperature) boot for the hot summer days.
It's a very comfortable boot that I can wear all day without complaint and it looks very nice. Definitely a boot I'd buy again and I've been recommending them to fellow riders.
I used the Forma as my Cruiser (when I had one) and wet weather boots but I was also planning on an adventure bike so these boots fit a dual purpose for me.
I can wear them all day without an issue but like all waterproof boots they do get hot, great in winter but not so much in summer.
I never had these boots slip out from under me even in the snow on asphalt (unlike the tyres) so they're very confident inspiring when the conditions get bad.
They're amazing boots and I would definitely buy them again should I need too.
that Alpinestars Sektor Vented Shoes looks awesome
I have the TCX Street Ace. Nice fitting, comfortable and look great. But after only 3000kms of riding with them the leather is starting to wear down from the shift lever. And I find them very warm on the feet. I also have the Alpinestars SMX-1. Feet stay nice and cool and are durable. But not the best for walking around.
Does the alpinestars smx-1 have an insole. If yes, have you tried switching it to a more comfortable sneaker one ?
The Richa Hipora is the best short motorcycle boot has laces & Velcro to cover lace knot ,breathable & also waterproof .They are also black not white like those girly looking Alpine stars ballet dancing shoes you have on display .
just purchased the tcx wp version in black and im excited to try them out.
Have the A* Sektors and love em! A little slim on the fit, but fit me well. Snug but not overly tight and great ventilation. As well, great protection. Went down a few weeks ago and ankle down is the only area on my right leg that didn't have any damage. 👌🏾 great product!
That TCX Hero WP is a sweet looking boot. I gave up on finding a motorcycle boot that I liked and I’ve been wearing an old pair of 10” wildland firefighter boots, which work well but are a bit high and not CE rated (at least not for motorcycles!).
That medial zipper instead of a the distal zipper I am used to on my old station boots is odd, and I am worried about the lifespan of the Velcro. I keep my boots for a decade or more and have a local guy who resoles them.
Icon patrol 2 is definitely my favorite! The laces being snowboard boot style alone makes me buy it! Then everything else like water proof ce and confort is amazing
I got the SMX-1R last summer. My feet were roasting on my Ninja 1000. At first I didn't think the perforations were helping much, but I just had to angle my toes out and away from the hot air from the engine.
TCX are the best boots
I have a pair and they are built really well and are comfortable and can be used off and on the bike
Owned the alpinestars faster and they don't come close to the TCX
HIIIiiii! ANNNTHOOoony for REVZillaaa :)
Sir what riding shoes to wear for.endurance challenge. Actually my 1st time to join. Thank you for sharing your ideas
Spoiler Alert: If you are a Size US 16 you should just grab a pair of Alpinestar Tech 7's. (Bring a saddlebag with you so you can change to casual/work shoes once off the bike.)
I ordered a pair of Tech 7's for $187 (American Dollary-Doos) , they provide protection rather than only style, and equally important, they actually carry Big-Human foot sizes, whereas most "normal" riding boots unfortunately top out at Size US 15.
I wonder on the forma adventure if they are high enough to hold your knee/shin guards in place?
I called the msf/miss school by me to ask if the boots that look like sneakers are allowed, even mentioned that the are CE Rated and hightops and she told me no so I bought some timbalands since she was adamant that I need BOOTS and since I needed a winter boot anyways 😓
Once I get my motorcycle I’ll be getting some TCX and other Boots that look like sneakers!!
Other than the introduction of himself, excellent sales pitch.
I'd like to see some riding sandals or chanclas.
What do you suggest for a extra wide foot 4 e...? I like the kind of height n ce rating... thanks
Which is better - tcx ace or mood?
Second ftom last is a stitch down construction not a welt but yes it can be resoled.
Are short riding boots much more protective than workboots or hiking boots or is it just better to save up some more and get full height racing boots
3:31 IF you don't break it? That wasn't confidence inspiring... ;-D
😂😂😂😂😂
It'll protect you in the event of an accident but if you hold it wrong. That's its weak spot baby
Can we start a go fund me account for this guy, so he can give back his little brother’s shirt?
😂
H8r.
Damn😆
Laws in the UK are so shit, I’m having to wait just over a year to be able to ride a Ninja 300. Can’t come soon enough

What about the Falco Volt 2? Also a great adv short boot.. love that TCX Hero’s though! Cheers!
Though they may be good, we don't currently carry that brand. -DrewZilla
How about using a workbook, like Danner Quarry in long rides? Highly not recommended?
Danner Boots don't have the necessary toe, heel, and ankle reinforcement for impact protection. -DrewZilla
Anybody know which one of these (or any other model/brand) is the most comfortable for walking a lot? The TCX, maybe?
Do u ship to singapore?
What about the RSS006 RS Tai Chi boot? Light years ahead of these in my opinion
If u can pick them up without breaking them?
In your opinion what would be the best riding shoe/boot for a cruiser bro?
Not sure there's a single _best_ shoe/boot for a cruiser, but in addition to the Super Duty 5 and Hero WP Boots featured in this video, consider the others below. -DrewZilla

Man i can’t find the TCX mens street ace shoes anywhere in stock. or in my size😢 any recommendations based on the shoe?
TCX has a variety of newer options similar to the Street Aces. Since they were discontinued TCX has come out with other options like the Dartwood WP shoes, the Street 3 WP shoes, the Mood Gore-Tex shoes, & the Street 3 Air shoes. Here's a link to their current lineup!

Is it as necessary to wear riding specific shoes as it is for jackets, pants and gloves?
Yes, I'd say it's necessary, since when you crash, it's your whole body crashing. There's also a higher chance that your foot/ankle/leg can get caught between your bike and the road, so it helps to have adequate protection. -DrewZilla
RevZilla are there any brands of helmets i should avoid? Im not trying to knock any manufacturers but its my life.
There aren't really any brands we carry to avoid. You don't need a really expensive racing helmet, and you might not want the least expensive helmets, so I would look in the middle range of prices. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla I figured that. You guys at revzilla seem very proud of what you do and sell. That's why I feel that if/when I buy products from you, it will be quality. Too many companies will sell anything for a quick buck. The old saying goes "you get what you pay for".👍😎
SMX-1 R alpinestars are $190..... my chest protector and leather pants combined, are cheaper than the boots. 😩
What about people who have wide feet? What are some recommendations?
Generally TCX are on the wider side. -DrewZilla
Got less than a year of use out of the alpinestars SMX1-r before the zippers broke. Alpinestars wouldn't honor their 1 year warranty either.
I like that Icon Superduty 5 but it doesn't come in my size. 14 seems to be the largest size for any brand. I've scoured the internet and found only one or two weird / lame off-brand models available in larger sizes. Revzilla, I'm looking to you to seek and carry extended boot sizes. No one else will do it.
No SIDI Apex's or Streeburners? Both draw DNA from some of the BEST tall boots.
hehehehehehehe ..... Superdoodie
Coded pee u
Hey man I'm looking for a full protection stunt shoe/boot what can you recommend
TCX Blaze Bootswould they be equal or compared to the Sektor?
Yes, these are equal in quality to the Faster/Sektor Shoes. -DrewZilla
What about the Speed and Strength Black 9 Moto Shoes?
If you only have about $100 to spend, they're a decent option. -DrewZilla
Hi guys. Hope you’ll be able to answer this issue I have. I’m looking for a riding shoe preferably or riding boot that is wide. 3EEE minimum, 4EEEE would be perfect. Any options at Revzilla?
Which ones have better grip on the bottom
The 4 shoes on the left all have similarly good grip for street riding. The two bigger boots on the right have a bit better grip, but they're also chunkier. It all depends on the look you're going for. Of everything on the table, the Forma Boots have the best grip. -DrewZilla
*bit.ly/FormaLow
is there a boot that protect against the bike weight of it falls??
Short boots and riding shoes aren't so good at providing as much protection in that instance, so you would want to consider taller sport or adventure boots with higher side impact protection. For example, look at the hinged side protection on the following Dainese and Sidi Boots. -DrewZilla

Really interested in the A* SMX1R boots, but sizing is a little confusing. I have a pair of skechers that are US size 9, and it says the EU size is 42. The chart on the A* boots say the EU size is 42 for a US size 8. Which is correct? Any recommendations for size?
We find the size chart to be a bit off for these. For US size 9, I recommend size 42. -DrewZilla
are there any boots like this in a size 15? i cant find any for commuting or casual riding.
The biggest size we have is Euro 50, which is about 14.5. If that might work for you, consider the following. -DrewZilla

Good nice well review..
Please go over width. I wear 10.5 wide.
I listen to videos on 1.5 speed to get that information faster. I think you’re on 1.5 already 😂
Anything for people with wide feet?
Icon, TCX, and Forma are pretty good for wide feet. -DrewZilla
Why no Dainese options like the scarpa etc?
We featured some Dainese boots in our other 2018 Gear Guides. -DrewZilla
why there is no sidi in the video ?
I generally wear Nike Air Force Ones. Still about 1/2" too short for my liking. Does the TCX add any height?
HI. THIS IS ANTHONY WITH REVZILLA TV, WHERE YOU CAN WATCH, DECIDE AND RIDE! 🙂
I bought 2 pair of TCX Hero and sent them both back. The leather doesnt seem to be dyed but spraypainted instead. After short period of time the colour comes off leaving you with a nasty used look. Shame really because of the price and their nice look. Check google for problems with the boots,
First, why would anyone want a boot with laces? That, seriously, could be dangerous. Of all the laced boots here, only the Icon should be considered, as it's the only laced boot with the laces not on the outside. As for what would truly be the "best of the bunch", that...hands down...would be the Forma. After approximately 2 months worth of research, reading reviews (pro & consumer), and watching videos, the boots I finally decided on (and purchased 6 weeks ago) were these very same Forma boots. I can tell you, having gone through a lot of motorcycle boots over the past 34 years, these are the best, and the most comfortable, that I've ever owned. Even though I've got 34 years experience, I'm not telling you to just take my word for it...give them a try, and you'll easily, and quickly, discover exactly what I did...$240 VERY WELL SPENT!!!
Robb Ryan I was about to comment the same thing. I've tipped over twice in my youth riding with laced shoes, luckily with moped and almost at standing. It's really shitty if laces stuck to ie. gear lever and you won't notice that until it's too late. I'd hate to tip over larger bike because of this.
jothain Exactly. Even worse, imagine those laces coming undone. Boots with longer laces will trail further behind the foot/boot, & could possibly get caught in the bike's chain...then what happens?
Robb, you might very well be right but I just can`t get past the look of them. To me, they look like ski boots.
My go to boots are the Sidi Canyon Gore-tex but I wanted a summer perforated shoe for those hot day rides.
...then the lace rips. It's a motorcycle chain versus cloth. Chill out.
griffithd05 Fine, you try it. West some boots with lose laces, make sue they get caught in the chain, and find out the end-result.one last thing - catch if all on video, so everyone can see what happens. Oh, yea...and don't forget to tell the doctor why you were doing this.
Good video.
Sidi Apex?
It's a shame RevZilla never has anything in stock
tried 3 of 5 and none were good for wide foot.

Hellooooo ! Sidi Apex not a part of this ? Seriously ?
Let me say this.. The best equipement in any category.. from any market.. moto or auto.. is the one you have.. there are no such things as BEST in anything. Best is the thing that fit your needs the way you want. and not BEST on the market or anything related to that. I understant this guy is working on a selling store.. and use clickbait titles to atract customers.. but hey dude.. people are smarter than you think today... even 2 years ago..
That philosophy doesn't work here. But it would work for girlfriends: The best girl in any category is the one you have. Or pizza. The best pizza in any category is the one you have. For footwear, not so much.
@@bruhdamartinasty3636 IS not a philosophy or whatever your mind think it is.. is the reality. What's "best" for me it might be not the "best" for you.. but that doesn't matter because it is "best" for me..You didn't get my point at all.. Deviations are made everyday with every action and that is hapening because we are diferent individuals..and "best" for someone might be the "worst" for someone else. But in general the BEST is what you have.. because that "best" you have was your decision at that moment. and you've stick with it. And BTW.. i hate Pizza.. and don't eat it.. and i do not have a girlfriend i have a wife. So your points both of then.. wont work "here" for exemple. See my point now?
Anyone else wish these videos would actually should the tread?

Hey, cut back on the coffee dude. That opening statement was a fricken blur.
The size chart for the TCX street ace air is misleading. A lot of riders said go down one size!
No, they run big. I take a size 11 but ordered a 10 ( European size 44 ) based on reviews and they fit perfectly.
I just need something to add height. He doesn't talk about how much height they add.
Height? Why height? If the sole is too thick then you're going to have issues with the clutch shifter.
