It’s a possibility of the future which makes it that much more scary but entertaining

Chappie is proof that you don't have to continually make cliche evil robot or evil AI movies. For once, the robot is what its maker taught it, as all life would be.
exactly. The movie has the idea that Chappie is like a toddler: very very impressionable, and learns by example.
If you liked this, go watch "Short Circuit" from the 1980s. Its pretty much this same concept but executed a bit differently. Johnny 5 was the original Coolio Robot Dood who cracked Elmer Fudd puns while blasting his 1980s sci-fi laser at the bad robots!
Here's the "No Disassemble Stephanie" Scene:

Everyone out in it is out to _use_ Chappie for themselves, to advance careers, get rich, or, in a more morally gray 'use' of chappie, and less inherently evil, Dev Patel's "Deon" character wants to use AI for the good of everyone, and for him to be the one to have done it, it doesn't seem selfish, but it is, quietly, as he does it in _his_ name, not the company's, which causes the conflict with a jealous co-worker.
And Chappie has to navigate all of that all while not understanding any of it, and just understanding the words used by those around him to discern their motives.
Hugh Jackman's character really didn't use their words well.

And instead of making a tragic ending, it gives a hopeful yet uncertain ending. It's such a powerful statement, to give the viewer something outside the box, not a great orchestral happily ever after, but a pseudo-realistic, humane finish.
Agreed
What is the name this film please ?
@@rafiko95 Chappie
cyberpunk moment
Corporatocracy not corporatism. Corporatism is something else.
This is the movie that NEEDS a sequel. Why don't we ever get the sequels we want but Hollywood tears it's own limbs off to give us the sequels nobody asks for😭
Or a million reboots. Sigh.
@maccas most likely the negative feedback was due to Die Antwoord being in the movie. He should drop those losers anyways!
@@themojoverse bruh what the hell bruh, they were perfect for this movie, there are no better options than them for their characters. Obviously I'd love more chappie too but at least the movie was a fully resolved story.
I didn’t like the movie very much. Wouldn’t mind a sequel to it. But besides the actors, the acting, setting. And maybe the dialogue ish. Didn’t like the rest
Really underappreciated science fiction movie. A lot of quirky characters and a bit of a rushed and improbable premise but the end where humanity discovers immortality is within reach and simultaneously watching an uploaded human standing before a humanized AI both recognizing each other as the same is literally mind blowing.
A serious sequel with James Cameron or Ridley Scott would really be something to see.
in an alternate universe, Hugh taught Chappie boxing
That's why atom looks like chappie for some viewers
2:36 having not seen this movie, that man doesn’t look like he’s seriously injured…it’s too low to be a liver shot, so it might be in his stomach or intestines, but that’s super survivable with medical treatment.
Well considering that his maker is a wanted fugitive and so is Chappie he wouldn't get the help he needs and he was already bleeding out before this whole scene happened.
The ending was so odd, normally a movie dealing with consciousness and putting the mind in a machine goes for something like it’s a dream and you can’t cheat death, but having the characters literally do that fills the mind with questions and it becomes more memorable instead of just a sad ending of them dying or one dying and the other moving on.
I could imagine in their universe they would find some way to Cybernetically enhance the human brain just so consciousness can be transferred and removed
No, his consousness was only copied, he actually died. If you copy a file on your computer and move it to a new computer, that doesn't mean you've moved the file, it only means you made a clone.
@@hhubhj44 he said transfer
@@hhubhj44 No it was a TRANSFER, not a copy and paste. Although later Chappie does save his "mommy" by *copying* her mind using a backup to a new robot body.
@@hhubhj44 I was just thinking this, the robot "Maker" isn't really him. It's just a robot with a copied memory to act like the human it once was, the human died and is gone forever. So whether or not the new consciousness should be considered a person or not, even though it's a copy, that's the real question.
5:20 that gesture - chapie waiving with his hand. Coming from a machine looks more human than if it would come from human. Such a warm thing.
did u know that babys on fire thats a song the guy and girl are die antwoord in the movie lol
Movies like this and Prestige shows u how good of an actor High Jackman really is. Anyone who watched this movie definitely wished for this. Such a great actor.
This movie needs a sequel
One of the finest sci fi films in decades.
As usual, underappreciated.
Also District 9
@@astonnoor yeah D9 was technically the better film.
But Chappie is perfectly fine.
You'll never get this on modern movies nowadays
Which movie is it?
@@immortaluck you mean Interstellar?
Lol imagine having to tell people you got into a fight with a robot, not much of a fight but a fight and he utterly smashed you into the hospital…. It would almost be worth it
I almost felt bad for him XD then remembered he was a sadistic dick the whole movie and he got off lightly.
I'd tell people it was a terminator! They should understand than.
Hugh “yeah I got some licks in myself”
Everyone “….no you didn’t”
_"I unloaded a whole clip into the f##__#er__ and he just kept coming!"_
There was always something funny about seeing Hugh getting tossed around being the tough guy for so long lol.
None of this was over the top or under, this was perfect, seemed as real as it would be in RL. Masterful
Hey , can you tell the full form of the word ' G ' in the title of this video " Chappie destroys Hugh Jackman then walks out like a G " ? Pls reply .
That part where he cheats death and becomes a robot gave me chills it felt so unnatural it was incredible. Did anyone else feel that way
I don't know how nobody talks about that. I would have broken down into a existencial crysis on the spot if I woke up as a robot and right after saw my own dead body
@@Alertacobra12 Seeing my own dead body would definitely spike my anxiety, but who's to say that the robot body would even know or allow that feeling? I've always thought, all the way back when I was a kid, how could it would be to have a robot body. I still do. The ability to have faster thought processes, more ability to store data, different vision types, increased strength, agility, stability, easier to fix broken parts of yourself, the inability to feel pain (although at first I bet you'd still absolutely freak out like it did hurt), and also an easier way of getting to look more like your ideal self. Besides maintaining the parts and making sure you have a proper energy supply and way to charge it, there's really not a downside to it at all. You could be as big or small as you want, learn how to do the job or hobby you always wanted to but couldn't for whatever reason... I mean, you could even be whatever type you wanted: bipedal, quadrupedal, centaur, transforming/modular... The possibilities are wild and scary and amazing, but I love it for that. I grew up watching Short Circuit, and when I watched Chappie, it just feels like an alternate story in a similar vein. Both of these movies are fantastic for it. I may never see a consciousness transferred to a bot body in my lifetime, but at least I can watch Short Circuit, Short Circuit 2, and Chappie and enjoy it's portrayal.
@@Alertacobra12 a game that actually have this things (kind of) is called Soma... Its an horror game but I highly recommend to play it
@@tanker102 Oh god… the ideas that Soma taps into is insane, I don’t want to spoil it for the guy you responded too, but what it showed us about the conscious swapping has stuck with me.
Absolutely, very disconcerting. The line "I don't know what this means" gave a glimpse into his dawning realisation of what he'd just become.
While the message of this movie is pretty obvious, a human being can be more Savage and inhuman than a robot can, this scene was still insanely cathartic. The sudden intense violence that happened when Hugh Jackman's character used the moose to attack the gang was shocking and threw me off. Seeing chappie get his revenge is awesome.
There is a line in Metal Gear Rising where Bladewolf (a robot) is explaining to the main character about how robots do not typically get used in acts of terror by terrorist groups because robots generally lack the capacity for brutality. Here we have Chappie not only savagely beating up Vincent but doing it in a way to make him suffer: Chappie is far more human than robot, even if he is purely synthetic.
@@Phoenix8492 yeah this movie contradicted itself and lost its own message
That depends on what your definitions of savage and inhuman are, and lead to some rather philosophical questions. On the one hand, a robot wouldn't be vengeful or sadistic, if it would have to kill it would do so cleanly, efficiently and with purpose instead of savouring a human's fear or pain. On the other hand, pleading with a robot would be utterly useless precisely for those same reasons, while with a human you still have the possibility of connecting on a personal level, gaining sympathy, and being spared. A robot would never do that.
@@Phoenix8492 Then, he proceeds to stick a chainsaw into a crippled War Veteran’s mech, leave it in there ripping him apart and then tears him out. He proceeds to cut them into multiple pieces as per regular in MGR:R but while he’s begging for mercy, too’

He was laying like a family guy character lol
