- Ehud Olmert, former Prime Minister of Israel, discussed his views on the security situation Israel faces and how that shapes prospects for an Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement.
On June 4, the Wilson Center hosted a Director's Forum, "The View from Israel: A Conversation with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert." Aaron David Miller, Vice President for New Initiatives at the Wilson Center, moderated the event. Jane Harman, President, Director, and CEO of the Wilson Center, provided introductory remarks.
Harman introduced Olmert, praising his efforts to pursue Middle East peace. "I, for one, remain bullish" on a negotiated settlement, she said, hoping that recent efforts involving Secretary of State John Kerry will help "the Middle East region become an economic powerhouse" with Israel as a key partner.
Yet no Official map detailing Olmert’s “generous” offer to Abbas has been made public
He did show the map in the past after he resigned.

I truly believe him
Olmert is better than Bibi but his story about a map is nonsensical, unless he is talking about making his side chat with Abbas an official offer had he signed on a napkin😂, it can’t happen in reality with Israeli lawmakers vote on it, and it goes through all kinds of committees and court challenges… etc! And if he had the balls for his offer, he should have said it publicly and put the Palestinians in the corner in front of the whole world!
Then why abbas didn't sign ?

So, this prime Minister offered a peace process and waited on Abbas to come back for a long while, and they never did. Even if Olmert was not 100% honest still it is obvious that Palestinian side never been able to accept a peace deal. How many times us presidents and Israelies tried to reach a deal but Arafat and his successors rejected it? What is stopping them? Are they affraid of their hardliners for their lives?
This is what a zionist is indoctrined to believe

>invades your home
>unalives your parents, imprisons your brother, grapes your sister
>throws you into the basement
>starts partying in your home
>calls you the aggressor when you try to fight back
>offers you a peace deal where i get to take most of the house and you get to keep the basement
>calls you ungrateful for not accepting

Great to learn of this man's past (here) & current leadership. Learned of him via BBC Channel 4 interview with him this past week (10/7/23 forward) after awful Hamas attack on Israelis & now loss of life in Gaza. I'm learning here & elsewhere, it is always the right time to assure the right thing.

@@HusseinDohajust looked at the map. It’s just laughable. No wonder why Abbas never got back to him.
So he wanted him to sign without reviewing the documents with his advisors? Ridiculous. Never sign a contract without knowing what it is you’re signing away.
Being adamant that someone sign something without studying it, makes it sound like a con.
Lol can you show the map ? Layer
How many settlements did u build while talking about peace.
He was not prime minister since 2008…so 0
Bibi has been a PM for various periods....If Israelies dont love Bibi policies why do they keep on voting for him???.....Why this dude just served few years and ended up in Jail??
אולמרט , מי שסדר לך תיק שוחד זה לא אבו מאזן 😊
Gaslighting 101!
If the framework was the Arab Initiative, why not just stick to the 1967 boundaries? Oh but you want to keep settlers on Palestinian land?
Can you tell us what is the difference between what he offers to 67 borders?

so the palestinian leader cant bring home the map to study it with his advisors! is the real negotiations! sounds like a ploy to me!
Tayyab Khan He couldn't bring the experts with a taxi driver so they be able to study the map?
it will take hours with all those checkpoints imposed on the palestinian people
Tayyab Khan very cute joke! but millions of lives are dependent on him, his own brethren. They're waiting for its leadership to negotiate for them a state, and what is he doing, playing childish games on their expense? such irresponsibility! The Palestinians shouldn't forgive him so easily.

How is he a liar??? The Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat, himself said exactly the same thing in a counter interview about that deal! Did he lie too??? Is everyone a liar in your world???
