That's why I ponder on Wisdom 13:1-9, I see it all around me, but these videos take me back to growing up in the old Miami, and the wooden catwalk under Card Sound Bridge. Had to watch your step or get wet, and cut on the barnacles getting out.

I just want you to know, if you don't already, but you are one of the last of a dying tradition in Florida. My family are the Robert's, Ala "florida" Robert's, and Ed Roberts. You are carrying on practices and living in a way that, though they didn't have modern tech, they did, and I applaud you for it. I'm currently living vicariously through your videos, so many childhood memories unleashed. Thank you.

Thanks Aaron, watching you has really become a relief for me. I love vicariously going out to dive and spear fish! I appreciated especially your early morning recording and allowing us to experience that waking feeling, as we stood on the balcony to see the beautiful horizon that the world dreams of experiencing. I gain a lot of knowledge from this channel 3, and feel like I have gained even more experience. I texted you about doing a one person add-on to a charter and he didn’t have any available space so while I’m on here, I would like to request that anyone reading this message that has a spearfishing charter if they’re open to another Spearo, I’d love to get on one in South Florida! I appreciate you sharing your dives. I was born in Kingston Jamaica where I learned to dive before I was a teen. We moved to Miami Florida in 1970 where the fishery was like Key West. I continued diving and used rod and reel only to catch snook. I was 33 when hurricane Andrew struck Miami. I was on a motorcycle after Andrew made landfall and was hit by a car. I had a left foot transmettarsal amputation and skin got ripped off the top of the foot. I aslo got 6 screws in my lumbar where it is fused and stenosis in C 6- C-7. I was not able to dive any more because even with neopreme socks it kept taking off the skin graft. Thankful for your videos it brings back memories. In the 70's Miami fisheries was like Key West.

A few days ago I met a bloke down under who does something like you on a far more modest scale as a fishing hobbyist. He had a very large Kayak on the roof of his van fitted with an electric motor he and a mate had shortened so he could sneak into the shallow estauries near here. He showed me his most expensive bit of equipment: a long wooden paddle. What he briefly described reminded me so much of the spirit of your mangrove videos. He was nearly twice your age and not an ounce of fat on him.

Try your next sheepshead grilled on the half shell. One of the better ways to eat sheepshead. Just basted on some homemade garlic butter while cooking on the grill skin down about 6-8 minutes depending on the thickness of the filet. Salt & pepper to taste with a splash of fresh lemon juice at the end of the cooking process. Simple but delicious.

Man if any of your viewers are into gardening I'd highly suggest going to scoop up and bring home as much of those leaves and broken down wood as possible and adding it to your compost pile and garden. Just saying. That's an insane amount of nutrients built up through that entire area, utilize it to grow super nutrient dense foods.

Phenomenal video! Thanks for sharing! And sheepshead is delicious! We used to live near Naples/Ft. Myers and we'd be stoked if we caught a sheepshead big enough to keep as we knew dinner was going to be great! I believe it's in the porgy family. And some folks will tell you that the porgy is the lobster of fish. My kids love it more than snapper, grouper, or any other fish we catch when we go down there a couple of times per year.

We call sheepshead inshore snapper here in southern Alabama. I mix it with snapper all the time and nobody has called me out in it yet. We are lucky, we have a huge sheepshead spawn every spring and can easily shoot them off the gas and oil rigs in the mouth of Mobile Bay. Awesome episode as always!

That’s one fish we have plenty of here in Mississippi!!! Not uncommon to catch them 5 to 10lbs here!
We always put sheepshead in our seafood gumbo along with shrimp, blue-crab and oysters!!!
Talk about a AWSOME gumbo!!! Ha
Thanks for sharing with us brother!

Great Vid Aaron, can't agree more about keeping the spot to yourself. The fish also need their havens. If you are lucky to find one awesome, just dont abuse the area. Love how you did not shoot the Cubera you didn't need it, that's just you brother. Let keep getting bigger and producing for the future or until you need it 😎

Livin my dream through much of your work, thank you. Currently Looking forward to harvesting recreationally only... "poor man's grouper" AKA sheep head hoping for a good season here at my hometown,
St Pete side of Tampa Bay, my struggling estuary, is not what it once was, but it is possibly repairable. It saddens me at 64 looking back at what was. then I think how bout my dad who fished in the late 30s in this bay, spearing Redfish & soap fish via row boat with a lantern.
I have passed the tourch to my 4 boys and hope they follow through with the hunt. Peace Jimmy

Aaron my brother from another mother and Madeleine 👋😊🙌, and loved the intro with pearl and the plank for walking on to the boat lol, and I'm glad I got you to explore those mangroves brother because as much as I'd love to I'm too 🐔, the slightest leaf 🍃 to touch me in the water I'd be ready to peel out the water 💧, but nice catch and loved the out-tro with the rest of the fur babies, as always love y'all and until the next one, stay safe, stay awesome out there y'all 👋😊🙌

Aaron I'm sure you've heard of a place called Cap's Place a restaurant you have to go to the marina and get on a boat that takes you to it in Lighthouse point. When we were young we could ride our bicycles to it. The kitchen workers would clean fish and crabs so the sheephead were HUGE!! We'd flip rocks for fiddler crabs. This is one of the oldest restaurants in Southeast Florida.

@@KeyWestWaterman Aaron I had to go and Google it I didn't want to say something I wasn't sure of. But it is the oldest restaurant in south Florida 🌴 dating back to the old speak easy of the 1920. Dated back 85 yrs.
