Cast and crew love to have fun on set and improvise during takes. Usually, these behind-the-scenes jokes end up on the cutting room floor - or at best, they make it into the blooper reel. But sometimes, someone improvises something so good that the filmmakers decide to keep it in the film; and those are the moments we’re going to be taking a look at in this video. Whether it’s a particularly painful scene from The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), an important piece of character information in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971), or just a hilarious one-liner like in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), all of these improvised moments changed the final film in a significant way!
We’ll look at a wide range of films, classics like The Godfather, comedies like Zoolander, and superhero blockbusters from the DC and Marvel cinematic universes. So you’re sure to find at least one of your favourite scenes on this list! Some of these improvised moments were kept because they fit so nicely into the script, other times, actors took things to another level and the script actually had to be changed in order to accommodate the improvised changes. Talk about making a character your own! As always, if you enjoy the video be sure to hit the like button and leave us a comment letting us know what you think. Guardians of the Galaxy where Peter drops the orb and stays in character and acts like it was a part of the script
Wait when was that
@@shellysierra8072 9:25
Probably because it was a blooper that they kept. He didn't improvise it, he accidentally really dropped it. XD
@@sprybug Exactly he made it look like it was a part of the script.. so yes he kinda improvised it afterwards
I thought he was gonna talk about it, but he didnt
Tom Holland improvised the "I don't want to go" in infinity war just thought that might be interesting
Viktor Nikiforov I don’t know if it’s true but apparently Tom and Robert improvised the whole scene and beacuse the Russo brothers liked it so much and so did the audience when Robert and Tom re unite or whatever they are gonna do it’s gonna be improv again
That scene broke my damn heart
@@Lucy-ro5fh In an interview he explains he was only told to act as he didn't want to die, only main notes, the exact scene is himself and rdj
Watching this clip with Yuri 😏😘
Rose it was improvised because Holland didn’t have a script
The iconic "I've got a jar of dirt! I've got a jar of dirt" is missing.
P Thounaojam E
Was that improvised?
@@nikkieh1445
I've heard that most of the Captain Jack Sparrow antics were improvised.
@@nikkieh1445 yes
Ik!!
Infinity War- "I don't want to go" was improvised and killed me inside
Madelena DiFabio i think that’s cuz everytime he goes on set where he’s about to die he would always say that
Killed him inside and outside too
Think of what it did to Peter Parker.
"Reading? I didn't know you could read."
Kaushihan Kanapathipillai The only place I remember that line from is Harry Potter... where is that from, and was it improvised?
Yes! Tom Felton forgot his line and came with that instead
It was from Harry Potter and improvised then lmao. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets... when Harry and Ron break into Slytherins Common Room disguised as Crabb and Goyle. :)
I love that part
YAAAS!!
'Better hide your baby oil'
'Better hide that big ass forehead'
Starman 49 I
Starman 49 lol
fast and curious
HAHAHA BEST IMPROV EVER xD
Yeah why wasn't this here?
In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Voldemort Hugs Draco Malfoy Which Wasn't On The Script
I was literally about to comment on that
When harry in the camber off secrets said good that i always be there to lucius malfoy. And the thing lucius malfoy said before was also improvised.
YES! So uncomfortable and so well done by staying in character by both.
That's y it was so awkward
The Dark Knight actually had technical difficulties, and they we're blowing up an actual building, so they had one shot. That was the joker's actual reaction when it didn't work
This has been debunked so many times, i'm amazed people still think this
I'm very surprised that not one Robin Williams moment got in this list. The guy was pure improv genius!
Yeah but then the entire video would've been his clips
I wouldn't mind that.
It's clearly the critically acclaimed movie, Boat Chicken Wave. Obviously.
Balls duh who wouldn't know that
No, it's got to be Boat Hen Sea Wave
it was a cock not a hen
No it's chicken little: 2 - at sea
It's Moana!
How about the snake story from Thor Ragnarok
"Mwaah its me, and then he stabbed me, we were 8 at the time"
90% of that movie was improvised tbh
If Harry Potter can fix his glasses with magic can’t he just fix his eyes with magic?
cause you can't fix what isn't broken
Maybe he just thinks it’s cute
Ikr🤣
Guys, it's a joke, calm down
...he can’t fix his eyesight because it was damaged when Voldemort left the scar on his forehead. The effects of powerful, dark magic cannot be reversed/fixed...it’s why Neville’s parents never recovered
I prefer Chris Pratt accidentally dropping the infinity stone at the Collector's shop, as my favorite "improv" moment from Guardians of the Galaxy.
You forgot to mention (re:Joker and hospital) that that was a REAL hospital GENUINELY being demolished (at which they had precisely one shot) and there was an ACTUAL unscripted problem with the detonation giving rise the desperate improvisation.
Could you please give me proof of that?
Maybe he forgot to mention it because it's not at all true. The scene itself wasn't even improvised, which was stated in the directors commentary of the DVD.
iirc the unscripted moment is specifically the detonation not activating when expected, hence joker fumbling with the device before it actually goes off.
no the explosion was meant to happen in two parts, but ledger added his bit of improv
KingChickenwing the info confirming it is in the commentary of the film. go through special features on the disc.
The Empire Strikes Back:
Leia: I love you!
Han: I know!
(He was supposed to say "I love you, too!"but ad-libbed this now iconic line instead.
Can we just take a moment and appreciate how deep Gene tucked into that roll?
They included Guardians of the Galaxy but didn't mention the shot where Chris Pratt drops the orb before handing it to the Collector?
'cuz that was a genuine oops. ...the improv is the smooth recovery afterward.
"I've got a jar of dirt! I've got a jar of dirt! And guess what's inside it!" Pirates of the Caribbean for the win
Tom Holland is a pretty good improviser I heard
Idk how you don't have Robin Williams on this list. He improvised alot in his films and they are all amazing
Williams improvised ALL of ALLADIN and GOOD MORNING VIETNAM
In fact he’s famous for having scripts that had certain sections that just said “Robin improvises” where his lines should be.
There was one scene in Great Will Hunting that was pretty funny.
In “ Mrs Doubtfure” when pushed the cake in his own face the icing was not supposed to come off his face it was supposed to stay The lights were so hot it melted the icing off his face so his response to that was improvised too
I'm pretty sure everytime RDJ eats everytime he shouldn't eat is more or less improv. Everyone was just like, eh. Let him be. xD
Also, Evans looks so pitiful because everyone else was eating but he wasn't and he keeps on glancing at them. xD
The best improvised moment in film is Jack Nicholson yelling "Here's Johnny!" through the hole he chopped in the bathroom door in "The Shining"
I didnt know that was improvised!
Wasn't it inspired from how Johnny Carson was introduced on the Tonight Show?
The greatest improviser in cinema history is hands-down Rutger Hauer who improvised the "tears in rain" monologue at the end of Blade Runner which is possibly the best monologue in cinema history.
Batman should have been in that cafe at the end, saying I'm Batman.
Yeah but that thing belongs to hishe dub (how it should have ended)
Best improv = Jonny Depp!! Pirates of Caribbean.. the jar
Finally some one else that saw it.
which movie/scene?
The "I got a jar of dirt, i got a jar of dirt, and guess what's inside it!" scene
and also they didn't put some scenes in some of the actors scripts and got their actual reaction
Tyler Verboom and after a stunt he was like "I hope you all saw that because I won't be doing it again" he's great
Greatest improvisationalist ever?
The man, the myth, THE LEGEND...
...MAN OF A MILLION VOICES...
...Accept no substitutions, exchanges, or refunds ( wooden duck falls from the ceiling )...
ROBIN WILLIAMS!
...I am so glad the Read more link ended up where it did. NAILED IT!
easily the best improviser of all time. There really is no competition.
RIP, Robin Williams. The world misses you.
Steve Carells lines weren't unscripted. Seth Rogan wrote most of them. that was his real body hair though
You forgot Iron Man. In the first Iron Man movie, the end where tony stark holds a press conference, Robert Downey Jr actually changed the script. He was supposed to disclaim himself from being Iron Man, however, he changed it by saying "I am Iron Man". Downey Jr was so in character as Tony Stark that Disney decided to keep it in the movie. It was what seperated the Disney Marvel verse from the comics.
I highly doubt that...
eh, i'm pretty sure they changed the script. i doubt something that has so much impact in the mcu was "improv."
Disney hadn't bought Marvel yet, though....
@@mariahm3351 you gotta remember that it wasn't "the mcu." it was a single, one off indie film that quite literally didn't have a script. It had a "script" but more of the lines and scenes in the film were improved than not, and entire plot points changed on the fly during shooting.
That's a lie. 😂
"I'VE GOT A JAR OF DIRTTTTT" Pirates of the Caribbean :)
🎶"I've got a jar of di-irt! I've got a jar of di-irt!" 🎶
AND GUESS WHAT'S INSIDE IT!
i can only exclusively sing this
Starvoice762 i dont get what it is? Is it a reference or a joke or something?
UltimatePrinceofBB it's a Pirates of the Caribbean joke
Where has the rum gone???
Monty Python's Life of Brian:
Brian: "You're all individuals!"
Large crowd: "Yes, we're all individuals!"
1 guy: "I'm not."
Did this just pop up in my recommendation in 2019?
same
Yup
theres SOMETHING going on here
Idk did it
Try 2020 😂
They brought the HISHE Cafe to life with that end credit scene of the avengers XD Loved it!
What about leonardo di caprio's accident in Django Unchained when he smashes the glass on the table with his hand and just continues...?
How the hell can you not reference Leo DiCaprio cutting himself in Django Unchained
and keep going to film the full scene?
Yea that was truly iconic. The whole scene was improv, him smearing his bloody hand over her face with real blood is just amazing
Mathias Nørlem That wasn’t actually real blood just so you know.
@@VenomOnPC you are mistaken sir. Just check the interview with both Dicaprio and Tarantino.
Orlando Ribeiro The initial cut and blood did happen. However other takes of the scene - Including the blood on the face shot was fake blood.
@@VenomOnPC ya, that much I know. Its just the cut itself that I'm talking about.
LOL..... I laughed too much, I have to run to the pee-room !!!
I like Indiana Jones shooting the sword wielding bad guy in Raiders
I thought it was here but it's not
From what I understand that wasn't on-the-spot improv, that was a suggestion Ford made before they shot the scene.
I actually thought it was improve, because Ford wanted to end the scene quickly because he had to go to the restroom, lol
From what I've heard (I may be incorrect), the improvisation was on-the-spot, there was a big fight scene planned, but Harrison Ford wasn't feeling very well, so he just shot the sword guy.
He was quite sick that day and they were tight on schedule so Harrison and the director ended up agreeing to just shoot the guy, instead of the elaborated fight choreography initially planned. It wasn't actually "improv", was just something they agreed to change before hand, to get it done faster and give Harrison some needed rest.
How about "*falls down stairs* ... I've got a jar of dirt, I've got a jar of dirt and guess whats inside it." From Pirates of the Caribbean #2
“Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. This is a war room!”
I'm gonna go with a straight off the top of my head guess, MOANA
Greatest improviser - Robin Williams
Leonardo DiCaprio Django unchained bleeding hand scene
And he was left with a permanent scar because of it.
That goes on another list.
Misa Amane mzkwomqkkqkwamks. Mkmqlqlqkmammamampallqo q
Loqkqlqk (p1kokqkkwkkwlek(kha mmsnmskskskkxwooopp)0pb
It wasn't really improv, he just didn't let it ruin the scene
That Shawarma end credit scene had me on the floor laughing when I saw it in the theater. Not a word is said, but still hilarious.
Thor’s he is a friend from work line was unscripted and was told to say that line from an ill child on set that day and they kept it
thats cute. and nice of hemsworth
This one is one of my favorites
WHERE IS JOHNNY DEPP AND HIS JAR OF DIRT????
Loch Ness is real? 😱
What about Hermione punching Draco in Prisoner of Azkaban? I thought that was pretty hilarious
Or the " I didn't know you could read"
Xinziex honestly that’s such an incredible line
‘I didn’t know you could read’ was a line that the director came up with on the set while filming. It wasn’t technically scripted but it also wasn’t improvised by Tom Felton
Wait what No, Tom Felton forgot his lines , so he improvised
That wasnt improvised, but she was meant to slap him.
Two things:
Heath Ledger SAVED that scene as the explosives didn't go off as planned, by staying in character and fiddling with the detonator he kept the scene from being ruined.
In Guardian of the Galaxy the moment where Quill drops the sphere containing the infinity gem is also unscripted and was a real mistake on Prat part who manages to catch it and stay in character to save the scene.
Great compilation!
What about Han Solo's "I know" from Empire Strikes Back
Kamino Groove been done on a bunch of videos before
Robin James Never stopped them before
or the part where Indy shoots the swordsman
Not really improv though Harrison had diarrhea that day and could not do a long take so he and Steven Spielberg came up with an alternative.
what about Indiana Jones shooting a guy that actually should've been a long fight
The Dark Knight when Joker claps inside the jail cell
That was the real improv moment.
Infinity war when Drax says " I'll do you one better, why is Gamora?"
the best one ever, the 'chest burster' scene in ailiens.... she gave everything for the parts she played, and even had to go through therapy as a result of them... fully deserving of more than one oscar!!
what about Damian and 'I want my pink shirt back'
At one point I thought they weren't recycling clips, but I was wrong. But there are a couple of new ones, so that's something
2:30
Gene Wilder's somersault is a masterpiece of acrobatics.
Watch it several times to fully grasp the mechanics of the roll.
Even with a pad on the ground it is flawlessly smooth without the benefit of using his hands.
5:33 did anybody else try to watch the reactions of the peoplenin the back😂😂my favorite is the lady to the left in the black and her husband whi shakes his head😂😂
I hope someone adopted that stray cat!
The best improvised scene is still in Supernatural when Dean was dying and said to Sam "I'm proud of us".
xXxbiia14xXx that always makes me cry cause Dean dies like 2 seconds later.
Oh I forgot that! :D
Yes! :)
#SPNFamily forever!
Thank you.
Definitely. 💔
'Leave the gun, take the cannoli' is literally on our popcorn bags at the movie theatre I work at haha
And the fact that jhonny depp wasnt here completly surprised me
What about the breaking two toes on a war helmet scene from The Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers?!
That wasn't an inprovised scene. it was on the script.
@@Vein.. breaking his toes wasn't part of it.
Don't you mean Two Toewers?
@@Vein.. no, it was not on the script, thats just what happens when you film. Also not improv.
So disappointed that the classic Indiana Jones moment with the sword fighter and gun shot wasn't mentioned.
yeah... that was actually scripted
@@tanishalfelven93 from what I heard, it wasn't. Ford was supposed to fight the guy, but he contracted disentery, and couldn't move around much, so he just 'shot' the guy.
@@tanishalfelven93 pretty sure it wasnt
It was originally unscripted, but suggested by Ford to Spielberg, then they shot it as a rewrite.
What about when Han Solo is saying goodbye to Leia. "I know" is one of the best quotes from Han Solo.
Heath Ledger also imrovised the scene where Joker is in the cell and is claping
what about the 20 min long improvised scene from the breakfast club?
what scene is that?
luis tavares the scene where they were all talking together while smoking and that stuff... i think. dont hold me accountable if im wrong tho
wow i didnt know that, very good scene too
luis tavares The dancing scene, that wasn’t edited, they really were changing positions that fast
@@cassanateliplus it was only supposed to be Molly Ringwald dancing; she refused to dance alone so everyone just had fun and improvised their moves she was really dancing her heartout.
How about Robin Williams ad-libbing for virtually the entirety of "Good Morning Vietnam"?
But it was planned for him to do what he likes... All his movies were like that, they let him do his thing..
Rowan Quinn that is what improv means. Unscripted.
Robin Williams was just handed a basic script for his movies and he just did what he did best, improvised.
Gary Oldman in Leon: The Professional, where he shouts ALL OF THEMMMMM .... or the 'like a clown, do I amuse you?' speech in Goodfellas!!!
A video about improvised moments. #2 was not improvised. It was pre-planned. Just something the actor insisted that he be allowed to do.
The scene where the Joker is clapping was also improvised
I am Groot
Groot I'm Batman
NerdyNeutron I am Groot
I _am_ Iron Man.
Hannah Gruhn I _am_ Groot
i'm gay
What about Viggo Mortensen blocking the throwing knife in Lotr: Fellowship of the Ring?
I see Peter Quill.
I click.
The movie is Boat: The Chicken waves
Where is the MLT line from 'The Princess Bride' in these videos
Jaws, "We're gonna need a bigger boat." Wholly improvised.
My favorite improve blooper has always been Dustin Hoffman in Midnight Cowboy. He was amazing for that, he actually breaks character briefly, but you hear his accent kick back in.
Can't believe Leo DiCaprio's glass smashing scene from Django didn't make it on this list.
JustCallMeKeebler was an accident, not improvised . Can't believe he carried on acting so perfectly though! :-)
The "shawarma" comment was actually improvised by Nicolas Brendon (Xander) during his audition for the Buffy TV show, created by the Avengers director Joss Whedon. Whedon remembered it and used it here...
I have another one from Wily Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. Do you know the scene where there in the boat and he starts singing? Yeah that was improvised. Nobody knew he was going to start singing! Not even the director or the cast and crew.
no Robin Williams in good morning vietnam ???? i'm disapointed.. best improv of all time
I can't wait for Iron man to meet Star lord
I can't wait for them all to meet Drax.
I don’t have to wait anymore.
I'll do you one better
Why is gamora???
Infinity war
Sir Joey of The White are u still happy😂
Hey, some of these are actualy new.
The scene on the Godfather became so iconic that its become a mob boss cliche... that is what I call legendary
In the scene of midnight cowboy with the taxi can you imagine what the taxi driver just trying to do his job must've been thinking? Because of his blunder he's one of cinema's most famous scenes.
" Yessss!!!!!! He's a friend from Work !! From Thor Ragnarok
Robert Rodrigues not really improv i don’t think... a kid from Make a Wish suggested it to Chris
You missed the famous "Dropped the toast" scene from Cabaret
When talking about the Joker explosion scene, It was actually the Pyro guys error, there was a problem with one of the explosives that didn't go off hence why Ledger was messing with the detonator longer. Still amazing.
The one thing you missed about Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was that that was the first time the other actors had ever seen Gene Wilder on set, let alone met him, so all of their reactions to this are completely genuine
how about that lovely noise Hannibal Lectur makes in Silence of the Lambs?
it's moana
yup
peyton galson I think Noah and the ark
but why specifically is there a chicken?
Bearded Cain because theirs a chicken on the boat with moana
Bearded Cain heheie
Just binge watched your videos of improvised scenes.. I cant tell you how many times you re use footage. Please do something about this!!
I love that Midnight Cowboy Improv.:-):-D I adore that cat in The Godfather.:-O:-):-D All Omproved scenes are great.
I’m disappointed that you didn’t add him screaming kelly clarkson, honestly it’s like the only reason I clicked on this video....
Here for Chris Pratt's abs 😂
What about Caddyshack? NO ONE IS MENTIONING CADDYSHACK AND THAT ISN'T OK! There are 3 scenes that come to mind, the scene where Chevy Chase's Ty Webb is golfing and talking to Danny Noonen (As far as I know that conversation was almost entirely off script), the scene where Bill Murray's Carl Spackler is pretending to golf and is just hitting flowers, all of his dialogue in that scene was improvised, and the meeting between Ty and Carl, that entire scene is unscripted and bloody brilliant.
also love the scene improvised when ironman recruits spiderman in civil war, surprised it wasn't mentioned.
Greatest improviser in cinematic history is robin Williams.
"I've got a jar of dirt"
Han Solo: "I know." The best ever.
I love how you never compromise on being yourself.
