This video is old, and I’ll just say something as an owner of tarantulas: that wasp was most likely tampered with. The wound on the back of the wasp seems incredibly unnatural. The fact that the very end of the wasp was pretty cleanly chopped off suggests that the person behind the camera cut it off the wasp. Tarantula fangs can’t make that type of clean injury, and tarantulas don’t aim to remove the stinger. Plus, the video starts with the spider having already captured the wasp. Most likely, the person behind the camera caught this wasp or found it battling the tarantula. They then proceeded to cut the stinger off of it, and either made them fight again or manually fed it to the tarantula. These wasps almost never lose due to their incredible strategy and immunity to the venom. Just a side note to people who may think this is how these battles may go. If the wasp still had its stinger, this tarantula would have been paralyzed long before the bite could do anything. At worst, they would both die.
@@tobigtosuk I believe most of these wasps are immune to the (potential) paralytic and toxic effects of tarantula venom. The mechanical damage will still do something like breaking wings, creating wounds, etc. But they normally aren’t affected by the venom
Fair assessment I would say, the wasp appears to have been disabled. I have only seen one video in many were the tarantula wins the struggle and that was due to a botched attack by the wasp.

He saw the tarantula fighting with the wasp and set his phone down to video them. We assume the tarantula got in a lucky bite and severed the stinger but have no way of knowing that for sure.
