Great video! Nice shade covering on your avo tree, you really take great care of your avo trees! Your avocado grove is looking great and thanks for sharing!
Welcome! I do these video to document my journey and for FUN and it's really been good for me since I've also learned a lot from everyone that has commented. So it is a win win. I know you have a Holiday, Lamb Hass, Reed & Bacon...3 more than most people in their yard...
So glad to learn more about the Anaheim Avocado tree. I went to Home Depot to buy a Haas Avocado. I chose the one I liked the most and when I got home I realized I got an Anaheim instead. After watching your video I think I will keep it. From my research, it seems it's going to self-pollinate. New sub here.
Hi and Congratulations, I've never seen one at The Home Depot. It is a Type A so good chance that you don't need 2 trees for fruit. Hope it is doing well in this heat, grow it along with me! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great content. Just tried an Anaheim for the first time this week, small seed for a big fruit and very tasty, Think you will be very happy with this one!
That's awesome you got a chance to taste one, June through Aug is supposed to be the fruiting season. It is going to take me a long time, minimum 2 years if I'm lucky. I'm patient since I just put it in Feb. Can I ask how long it took you to get some fruit and if you are also in SoCal? Trying to set my expectations. Thanks for Watching!
Didn’t grow it😁, bought it at a fruit stand in Fallbrook last week. Southeast corner of 15 & 76 Fwy. They have a nice variety usually , 1st time I’d ever seen a Anaheim. Got some tasty Gwens there, too.
Your Anaheim looks great. I have tried growing this one several times without success. I currently have one in the ground but it’s struggling. Not sure why this one has been such a challenge for me . Do you have any advice ?
Hi William, the things that I have done this year different from years past: 1. A LOT more mulch. The Anaheim only has about 3", I should add more but seems happy. 2. more consistent watering. Some people say water and wait a couple of days and water again. For me it gets hot and if I notice the branches hunched over a little, I add water even if I've water that morning. I just run it through my micro spray for 10 minutes and it perks back up. Some times depending on temps I'll spray 12, 3, 6PM just to cool the ground around the tree. 3. Paint branches, just did more last week the new growth but honestly probably didn't need it. 4. Added shade cloth when temps are over 100~105 deg F. just did it this last week but honestly probably didn't need it. 5. Monthly fertilizer. I noticed that right after I applied a liquid fertilizer at the beginning of this month, all of my trees really took off even in the heat with lots of new growth. I used Liquinox Grow 10-10-5 an All-Purpose Fertilizer bought at the HD. 6. Just native soil with light perlite mixed in, NO organics, just on the top with the mulch. Used to think my soil was bad and not fertile so would add a lot of stuff but now none on avocados, just dress it on top. I know you probably do all of this and it is possible that you got a bad Anaheim, mine was grown by La Verne Nursery. Keep going, I know you can do it considering all of the other varieties you already have and seems they are OK. Thanks for watching!
Congrats, your tree is doing so much better than mine. Mine seems to not be happy where it is and I think that I got a weak rootstock. If you got fruit, that is great! I had a couple but they were small and didn't think it would hold and they didn't. I'm not giving up on it just yet, it seems to be doing much better so we'll see. I'll do an update vid soon.
How is the Anaheim coming along? I just up potted a 5 gallon to a 15 gallon hoping to plant next year. There doesn’t seem to be too much on UA-cam or the internet about Anaheim
Hi Eric, is doing just OK now, I didn't shade cloth it during this last heat wave and it's in the hottest part of my yard. Still alive but I should have taken more precautions. It flowered earlier got one fruit but really didn't stick. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for watching!
If you ever has a chance would love an update video. The one I uppotted last year came from lowes, it’s definitely grown and is flowering but it seems awfully floppy and not very upright growing. Branches are thin and droop under weight of leaves, can’t imagine how it would be under weight of fruit. We’ll see
@@AvocadoTalk still droopy and has quite a few avocado on it now even in the 15 gallon pot. Had it close to a bacon and Kona in pots seems to have pollinated well. The bacon is loaded too along with a Reed and Gwen in 15 gallon pots loaded too. But the Anaheim is still spindly and not very upright. It’s like a weeping willow
@@ericmatthews7264 I'm thinking I might just take scions off of it and trying to graft it onto something might be stronger to see if it get better. Or just cut it down...I don't know.
Hi my name is Joe I have an Anaheim avocado tree that I was finally able to successfully graphed it to another tree after 10 years. The mature Anaheim avocado is probably the best tasting avocado tree that just about everybody that I have performed a taste test with reed ,”and fuerte every one has chosen the Anaheim.the question I have is has anyone in lake Elsinore/ canyon lake ca. Had any success wirlth an Anaheim avocado tree. Thanks
Hi Joe, That's really great that yours is productive and you've had a chance to enjoy the fruit . I am struggling with my Anaheim avocado but it's still alive and it looks like it may make a comeback. Other people who have the Anaheim seem to be doing better than mine. I'm going to hold on to it and hopefully sometime in the future get some fruit. No hurry for me since I have plenty of other avocados that are already predictive.

Thank you! You too!
I love how to slowly video tape your trees and show the graft, trunk and all. Keep them videos coming.
