@@AvocadoTalk I found that if I put my internet on incognito, I could leave comments. UA-cam must dislike me or something, I was starting to not be able to leave comments on other channels I watch too. Great video on the Lamb Hass, you really take great care of your avo trees, thanks for sharing!
I planted a Lamb Hass, Reed & Bacon in the ground back in late January of 2021. The trees have taken off and I have picked off the flowers so that it can focus it's growth on other areas. Nice tree BTW.
Hi Robert...all really good varieties, the fact that yours flowered is a really good sign. Keep me updated on your progress, I'll update the team with my progress. Thanks for watching!
Actually I have 2, it has been hot so I have been holding off on planting them but they need to go into the ground soon. I have some interesting thoughts on the 2 that I have so I'm curious if others are seeing the same. Thanks for watching!
I have a Reed and a Gwen planted two months ago. They have plenty of side branches and a straight central leader, and I don’t need white paint them even in California
Congrats on 2 really nice varieties. Do your young avocado have good shade part of the day? I didn't paint my GEM avocado and it's been doing good but my Sir Prize needed some protection. Thanks for watching!
Mine I bot a couple of years ago , planted it and then transplanted, set it back, last year cut off a low side leader to balance, then this spring it Sent out another low leader that has grown 5' up and out and now is bigger than the main tree, it's grown like a weed, flowered some but no fruit. Takes the heat well. I've put grafts from this to my young Fuerte, one took and now is growing quite well. Thx for the videos!
Grown like a weed huh, that's good to hear about this variety...I have some weeds that has grown fast without water, wished my avocados did that but without water especially right now in the heat and since they are young would probably die right away. Fuerte and Lamb combo sounds like a really good combination. Thanks for watching!
I have 2 lamb growing in the ground second year and no fruit. We had temperatures unusually hot this year many days around 99-102 degrees plus a few 104, 106, 108 one shows no heat stress only the other slightly wilted but this lamb variety is very heat tolerant compared to other avocado types.
This year has definitely been odd, watch we'll have a super wet winter. After 2 years maybe next year it'll flower and fruit? Keep me updated. Mine anything over 95f, I have to give it a little extra water or it'll slump over a little. Add a little water and it perks right back up. Thanks for watching!
One of my 2 lambs wilts and I've noticed the wilting is caused when there is a correlation between temperatures above 95 and humidity that drops below 10% plus the length of time in direct sun during the hottest time of day 12pm-6pm, and hydration factors wind, previous days water deficits, soil moisture etc.
The lamb that wilts is planted on a 20% Hillside slope that gets afternoon shade after 3 pm the other lamb is on flat ground and never wilts. Avocados on slopes need extra water because of natural water runoff.
@@xrsjohnm I'm really liking the Lamb and really thinking about getting another one, I already probably have way too many but 1 more wouldn't hurt....right?
All of mine are kinda like me thirsty, gotta stay hydrated. This last summer, there were days during the middle of the day with the heat, I was watering every hour for 10 minutes. I got micro sprays so it wasn't a ton of water but they really like a slow and constant watering. When I watered consistently and a lot, no burns. When I tried to lower the water was when I got some burnt tips. Nice varieties you got. Thanks for watching and sharing!
Actually this is difficult since everybody's conditions are different. For me, I adjust my schedule weekly depending on temperature/rain/winds/humidity. Right now I have my water setup to run every other day and when it is on, I run it for 10-15 minutes twice a day. Starts at 7:30 and 9:30AM. We have a slight heating trend so I'll add a 3rd run at 12noon. I use 360 micro sprays so it is not a lot of water, just smaller amounts and more frequent. Your conditions maybe different: soil, shade protection, mulch, variety, rootstock,... I try to also check daily and it has been tough but the trees will tell you if they are thirsty. The challenge for me is dealing with water demands when it is super hot like over 100, certain varieties just need more water so I end up applying water to the most needy tree and since they are on the same irrigation zone, the other trees get water at the same time even if it didn't need it.

Great Lamb Hass, your tree is growing really well!

@@AvocadoTalk Not really, the spot has full sun during the day. It's just the top and side canopies protect the branches.

I have a Hass, Lamb Hass, and GEM and I see the same result, during the Hot days I'll water 3x a day, and I've had 0 issues with burn.
