Hello, I actually made the corners and latch out of clay and then used gold luster over glaze to make them look like metal. I hope that helps

Try adding a clay hinge and allow the lid to open.

Try a piece of drywall or gypsum board. The talc/clay SHOULD (in theory…should) ensure even drying
