      I’m glad to hear the video helped with your 2012 Prius. I’ve see. Your dealership before when I lived in the Bay Area. I think you had many Toyota vehicles, including the Prius when I was looking for a good deal last year. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

    So do you need the original key when programming the new key?

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  4 місяці тому

      Yes, you need a working key 🔑

    I have the same D8 but I can't program my new key fob to my 2017 ram 1500 for some reason? it won't let me extract the pin code from the vehicle like it did yours it doesn't give me that option? If you know why, or you can do a video on a ram 1500 4th generation, that would be great?

    Don't get me wrong but until I see the new key successfully locking, unlocking and starting the car - I don't believe it :)

      No worries, it’s 11 dollars for a new key and yes it works. The computer even confirms the number of keys. I show even in this video here ua-cam.com/video/nTninTEbdYA/v-deo.htmlsi=KBqGLSOi0KXWLE9-

      I have D7 and it works fine on all keys i tried to program.
      Very easy on my C-RV’s 02~05.
      I even cut them myself.
      I also used it on my son’s Nissan Frontier 2011.
      The sweaty moment came when it said “erase all keys”!
      😮
      My son told me go ahead dad, and it worked like charm.
      I read the pin, and It asked me whether to enter it manually, but I chose automatic .
      There is PIN code calculator in the software, but evidently it did it on its own.
      It worked.
      I had to enter the original key, and the two new keys.
      All of them worked afterwards.
      The new keys were fob keys, and fob was easy to pair. Plenty of videos on UA-cam .
      It was not “rocket science” though!

    Can you program a used OEM 🔑 or does it have to be a brand new unregistered 🔑.?
    Hope to get a reply. Thank you.

      I used an unbranded key that I got for 11 dollars, link to keybis in the video description

    You do realize that you can get the pin from the dealer and use any of these tools, right? Hardly a "defect", just a minor omitted inconvienience . . .

    • @RANDOMFIX

      Thank you sharing your thoughts. I haven’t tried calling the dealership but most of the time I call to even order a part I can barely get a hold of human. Do they require id and registration to give you the pin? Is it free?

  • @seamasrigh2162

    Toyota Dealer Parts Dept will give you the PIN with your proof of registration and DL. No charge. I've heard the Chrysler/Stellantis vehicles are very hard to get into with almost any scanner. Personally I always use Toyota OEM keys - just don't trust those Chinese knockoffs. Good vid though, I'm leaning toward a D8S myself.

      I have had no issue with my Chinese knockoff key and but having to go the Toyota dealer can take a lot of time. I doubt they can verify your id on the phone. The closest dealer to me 1 hour away. That's a lot of time and fuel wasted. Get yourself the D8S and your will be happy! Honestly the D7S is just as good.

    How many scan tools did you buy? Just to program a $11 Caravan Key, that key has just turned into a lot of money wasted

      @@RANDOMFIX I did a auto locksmith course but still searching a starting point what should I do as not getting enough clarity from where to start. If possible can you suggest or guide me. Thanks

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  8 місяців тому +1

      @VishalSuri_love_aim_live_life I know not much about locksmithing as their is the automotive side and the residential. From working at dealerships over 20 year I know I paid them I a lot of money each month and they made it look like hard work but honestly these electronic keys are not that bad. My one suggestion to you is just know that not one unit will work for all vehicles so don’t pay for a $$$$ expensive scan tool but instead start slow and get two 300 to 500 devices as you will have better coverage. Make sure one of the units is Autel like this one ua-cam.com/video/D5TMb4PupOk/v-deo.htmlsi=0f4M1Tul7h6noCaz and the other unit could be a xtool d7s or d8s like in this video. Good luck on your journey to becoming a locksmith and I’m hear to help. When you get into business make sure you land a few small dealership accounts they will keep you busy and give you lots of practice

    For those of you stating that you just go to the dealership and they will give you the pin whether you registration and ID... Yeah they're not doing that anymore because they know they're losing money.. try doing it for Ford and try doing it for a Ram 1500 and they pretty much told me to kick rocks.. I've had a D8 BT .. I was able to program my RAM keys no problem and My buddies Ford F-150. .. I really really like this Xtool.. It pretty much pisses all over the Autel 906

      @Brko-bm3qi okay, good luck with that, go into the dealer with your id and make an an appointment, the dealership doesn’t like to even say hi without a charge.
