Most people speak one of these languages but not natively as their first language, so they communicate with friends, seek information and follow media in their own languages. Also companies and advertising campaigns, which are main source of income for search and social networks, are ran on national, not European level.
Here in Poland we used to have a prevalent domestic social network and a messaging service, but they were limited to 40m Polish speaking users so they were easily outcompeted in features by American companies with higher budgets fed by their 330m domestic market.

They have to figure out how to replace their click ad revenue, which made them the richest company over the last few decades, so I think google might be going the Adobe route.
I think YT premium should be included in Google One, because like the name, it should cover all Google product subscriptions in one single bundle

@@sihamhamda47 100% agree. Microsoft bundles all under 365 and Apple under One. Google requires separate subscription. Though I'm a bit disappointed that MS made Copilot subscription separate from MS 365. Maybe they'll now release new plans with Google including AI premium with One

That Google rebrand is absolutely terrible. Why didn't they just go with revamping the Assistant? It's hard to pronounce and confusing as the service is named the same as the model.
not to mention Gemini is a bad name. It also was/is a crypto exchange platform with pretty sketchy history and I wouldn't trust anything with that name again
Hard disagree. Assistant is a bland brand. So was Bard and Bing Chat.
Most likely because Assistant is a different team with different managers, who would otherwise "steal" Bard/Gemini team manager's bonus and perks. Google is and does things the way they do because of weird incentive structures inside the company itself. They are rotting inside like all the other huge companies.

So long Meta only handles the E2EE traffic across different apps, in theory it should be secure. Then again, I don't trust Meta in the slightest.
Why would it be a privacy nightmare? The Signal protocol uses E2E encryption so nothing really changes. Not that I trust Meta. If anything, this might be the start of more people using alternative clients like Signal

Why is signal even on there. They are barely working on their own app. It's riddled with bugs and lackluster features, and you have to wade through piles of community beurocracy before someone from the "company" even takes a look at your feedback, if ever.

they are retiring google assistant for gemini? why lmao, if you ask gemini about current things, like news or sporting events and such, it will give you wrong info even if you specify the date, it will give you info about something already in the past a lot of the times instead of something that is developing currently, on the flipside google assistant knows how to present new and developing info well

I don't understand how this implementation of whatsapp interoperability will change anything substantial.
We will still be using Meta's server for everything (they even say in the wired article the other server can be a proxy but nothing more), there will be no group chat and calls support for years, the feature will be opt-in and "third party chats" will be separated from "normal chats" I bet with some warning about security and privacy.
Without indipendent servers I don't see how this will limit the dominant position of meta in this market, the client isn't the real problem

Just like with Apple, Meta took the EU's "interoperability law" and went the malicious compliance route. Basically you only get to interoperate with WhatsApp if the company allows you to (which goes against the concept of interoperability) and you have to sacrifice your users' privacy and security to do it.

I am really not a fan of the title changes after a video goes up, it happens like every time.
Every good UA-camr does it though. Different thumbnails/titles affect click through rate. Would be unreasonable to expect them not to optimize it

Why Telegram? Signal or Matrix is better thna Telegram. They don't E2EE by default and is proprietary garbage.
