I'm so happy that the fairbuds exist! They seem very well made despite having only decent sound. I hope other companies pay attention
Sadly, being markedly worse than the already so what mediocre ear(2) isn't what I'd call decent sound quality
Everyone is happy. But Nobody buys
@@nothing9220 I'm certain that's not true. I think they are more limited by their lack of worldwide distribution and production capacity rather than lack of interest.
Sure, they make products for a niche audience (not being top specifications and all that), but they've clearly proven that it's a reliable market segment.
I feel like this is one of those situations where a little government incentive towards spending habits that are less harmful to society would be needed. Companies and customers will just stick with convenience and low cost if given the option. Even CFCs needed regulation, and that was a clear and imminent threat with inexpensive alternatives.

@@TamasKiss-yk4stThat's what everyone said about the iPhone when Apple removed the headphone jack. So I didn't buy one, and have to this day never owned or dailied an iPhone. Yet somehow, my current phone STILL doesn't have an audio jack, and no decent alternative does either. Competitors saw Apple being successful at taking basic functionality away from the user so they could sell it back at a premium, and they all figured Apple's playbook would make them a lot richer than treating consumers with the respect they deserve.
@@justsomeguy5103there are enough alternatives with headphone jack. You just chose that other features are more important for you
@@yankotliarov9239There are very few alternatives left with a headphone jack, and those that exist perform poorly on other important metrics. They are too niche to be viable alternatives for most people. The free market was supposed to promote consumer choice, yet corporate greed has caused the exact opposite. There is no reason to make excuses for companies that see you and me as walking money bags.

Midroll? It was at the end 😂

True… However for me it was interesting also because I always wondered who is behind it and was lazy to Google…
Now in this ad, it's somewhat clear that it was designed by ppl at DJI using already existing OsmoAction shell…
That said, DJI magnetic clamp system is really great - easy to mount or dismout but strong enough to withstand a lot of abuse…
Glad the ad is also about tech a product and you explained it really well

“Can track you even turned off or drained battery”
LMAO Google sharing to the public their standard tracking systems they have on us. Kinda crazy tbh.
literally telling you they'll be spying on you at all time to your face, even if your battery is dead
So, basically what apple does, because iPhones have that same feature.
Love the context info in the top right when company send you product ❤
I mean i can see that the inbuild ram helping performance, but it would be nice if they still had laptop ram slots to expand on the inbuild ram
The problen here is the same like the HDD and SSD, after you started to use a SSD do you add a HDD to your system too, just to slow down the SSD? (If they are working together, in lot of case the faster need to wait for the slower to let them make the next step together again.. what is just completly ruin your SSD because it has only a HDD speed, so you will not even use this after you realize the differences)
For example if you add one DDR5 RAM modul to the M3 Max, the 400GB/s speed fall back to 50GB/s because the RAM have that limitation, same for the GPU, the PCIe 4.0 x16 slot where you slot that GPU have 32GB/s limit, so the 400GB/s also need to slow down to 32GB/s just to make it possible to work together. Until you can't get a 8channel DDR5 motherboard with PCIe 8.0 x16 slot for laptops (yes this is just the laptop limit, the M2 Ultra already doubling this speed) anything what you add just slowing your system, but you can guess when will you see 8 RAM slots for laptops, and a PCIe 8.0 x16 slot for the GPU..
@@TamasKiss-yk4st It depends on how they design it. There are already memory tiers (level 1 cache, level 2 cache, level 3 cache, main memory, which are based on speeds), so this might be a case of adding an extra tier for in-package memory. Storage can be tiered similarly. There's no reason the memory controller needs to have homogeneous channels other than complexity and OS support.
I really hope that the memory on the new Intel chips acts more like regular DDRx did with Optane, with two tiers of memory access speeds.
I think the idea here is to bring the memory closer for speed. Not for cache. So the same thing Apple did.
Seeing as they are removing hyperthreading from their new CPUs and I think I remember seeing that on-die memory clocked at 8533 MTs, it makes sense why they are doing this. Hyperthreading becomes less useful as memory bandwidth increases in proportion to CPU execution speed.
Another great weekly catch up! Great work. Crazy Apple news.
Apple announcement was not true it has so many restrictions it's still not repairable. Check another right to repair report it's disgusting what Apple is doing to their customers.

Replaceable Batteries 🔋 Should Be Made Mandatory For All E Techs 👍 Expecting Fair Buds Availability in Asia
Great idea to quickly show and hide the labels!
Closely connected memory has had to happen to compete with the power efficiency of ARM Socs sooner or later. I just hope that the old way of doing it, with a separate external memory controller still will be an option going forward. But for thin and light laptops where you usually can't swap the memory anyway, it makes 100% perfect sense.
I wanna get the fair pods but will wait for the audio quality to be improved first
One of the few times I've enjoyed watching a sponsored segment. That camera is quite interesting.
Fairphone and Framework should form a partnership and make a ecosystem of kind, both Software and hardware integration. That would be great for repairability and seamless experience.
Excited about the Fairbuds! I'm a bit concerned because even though i don't need my earbuds to sound great I don't really like buying worse sounding earbuds for the same money as much better ones. The case size also isn't ideal.
Hey man, if you’re ever scuba diving in Egypt let me know! Great footage from Thailand.
That unedited scuba diving footage looks incredible 😮
regarding intels on chip ram, I hope that they are using it as like level 4 cache, where OS and small programms can be run from or just more cache for getting some better performance. Hope to keep being able to upgrade the ram on my PC
Fairbuds look pretty interesting, but i think they should measure them so to get a Frequency response graph, it's not as good as hearing them, but it should at least show if the freebuds have very obvious flaws like raycons
bro thats crazy a tech ad thats well recieved
I have said it before and I will say it again: tiered memory hierarchy, it would be fantastic!
In tiered memory you put your different RAM into different tiers, usually grouped by speed and energy efficiency. So you have a smaller high-speed low energy per bit memory close to your CPU and then larger bulk memory further away.
The memory controller (together with the OS) can manage where it wants to put stuff and even if it wants to power down the far memory completely.
This is a well researched technique and I genuinely do not understand why it has not been used in mainstream platforms.
I hope if Intel does memory-on-package they use tiered memory. It would straight up be able to bring you the best of both worlds.
Energy efficient and fast RAM for most things and a big expandable memory for RAM intensive applications.
hopefully we will be seeing built-in RAM CPU versions of destkop CPUs as well from AMD and Intel. It would increase RAM speed by about 2x which would reduce frame stutters in some games.
for that camera it might be usefull if there also is a list showing the mb/s per videosetting, and perhaps also some settings optimized for good compression but more importantly it would be usefull if the bitrates for the lower resolusions where also listed as well as battery life in lower setting, since it only lists 100minutes battery life in what I assume to be the high power/high resolustion mode since the battery is pretty big.
next to that the bitrates of the lower resolutions might be usefull to know since many people wouldn't just shoot in 8K since in general in most cases shooting in 8k has very niche fields of use such as movie production or such, since even 4k already has typically a way higher resolution than people can see based on the screen sizes and average distance from the screen. typically it tends to be at around 1440p to 2k where the point is where people already can't see a diference anymore, 1080p actually technically seen also can be at the border, but with 1080p many people can still notice it when gettince close to the screen like on a computer and especially when there are many straight or curved lines.
the assecoires are also not to clear of what to exect from based on the options.
that said the pro version itself atleast in it's basic configuration seems to worth it, especially due to a almost full size sensor and some other things which make it atleast seem like it might compete with some actual more semi-hobby grade production cameras. the non pro version well some might go for it, but it is only slightly cheaper and you make a big tradeoff in the camera sensor which is one of the main parts of it assuming the hardware, software and ai can keep up with it since many cameras actually suffer from the hardware and software not being capable enough for the sensor. well or from the sensors being way to small and not good enough like in smartphones where they have insane processing capabilities and tons of software development and people can even load on their own softwares or software tweaks(might be interesting to see that on a camera, open source firmware or such, or atleast some open source method for adding new formats or such to it) but smartphones despite having super high resolution sensors all have super crappy sensors which are often way to small and also insanely noisy, meaning a 100mp smartphone sensor actually can only give okay detail when reducing it to something like 10mp and using 10 pixels per pixel and still some ai stuff and such.
smartphones somehow always dissapoint me since while some can fake quality none of them tend to actually have real quality most of their cameras are designed for marketing and not for use, sadly due to many people using smartphone there have been very little actually new real cameras which also had good features and such. might be interesting to see if that camera actually makes up to it's promises.
I'm really excited about fairphone brand. Hope it will be available in every country. Such should thrive. ❤❤
I don't know of anyone would want copilot to leak your info to everyone
Samsung buds' batteries are practically replaceable. They engineered it that way. 97% of wireless buds are not, you have to break the case/housing just to get to the battery.
That's true, but samsung doesn't sell the parts to fix them, which is an easy thing to fix
@@nachopascual-on7vt Yeah, that's a problem. You can buy batteries online, but not sure if it is new and authentic. I changed my Buds Plus' battery a year ago, so far it is working OK, but does not last as long as the stock battery when it was new. Still kudos to Samsung.
If the equalizer is sufficiently good and works for 'transparent' mode, where you listen to the environment sound, this can be highly helpful for people with mild hearing loss. The industry of hearing aids will get a huge hit sooner rather than later with functions like this one.
Are you standing 3 feet away from the sun?

Oh, great news on Intel Lunar Lake as well!
Really hoping that Android's tracking network takes off and isn't abandoned. It's bizarre that it has taken this long already. Do to its philosophy Apple can't make specialise trackers so this is really the only option to one day get a lightweight cat tracker.
Hopefully the EU eventually forces Google, Apple, and Samsung into an open standard.
And that Insta360 camera looks amazing!
Intel had some cpus that had 128 mbs of dram on them working as a level 4 cache. Maybe these can be used the same way?
Thanks for the vid
LPDDR isn’t useable as modules (yet, I believe Dell is working on something) so it makes sense to just moved it closer to the SoC for better performance and battery life. But I would assume it will then be incompatible with regular DDR (and probably also the Dell module for LPDDR).
5:42 Great, now even turning my phone off doesn't protect me from surveillance anymore!
I'd love if I could aquire a Fairphone in Brazil
4:28. Please compare the ANC there to '1more' earbuds.
About intel integrated battery... A lot of low-mid laptops have already memory soldered to the MB. They are technically replaceable, but not easily
Some enterprise laptops still have user serviceable RAM, I hope this doesn’t change things.
It's not RAM, intel's new chips have an NPU, which is a CPU with one singular bit of memory attached to each transistor, which can be used for inferencing.
find my device needs to come to phone, earbuds and all accessories and not just google but all android phones
satellite connectivity will pla a major role in detecting lost phones when battery is out
looking at how processor design can go the extra RAM on package chips might not be upgradable but also not usable but the GPU and CPU either. Having it's own RAM not having to share it with the GPU nor the CPU would mean Intel can optimize the RAM for the way their NPU will access and use it. The down side of not being upgradable is a minus yes but the performance uplift is most likely worth it. The problem will be when they get to having to have more RAM chips then 2D space on the package as it will make for a bigger CPU package size or a limit to how far the NPU can go. With their server designs how they got around it is by having more chips but that is also on an expansion card where having 8 chips is normal.
I definitely want the fairbuds
Any earbuds with a 3 year warranty would be a selling point, to be honest.
I still hope Apple has put some security into this replacement parts thing. Because one actually POSITIVE thing about the lock that no one thinks about was that it makes it harder for people to steal devices and use parts from them and sell them etc.
Yo, these are just like the Galaxy Buds and Buds Plus. Swapping batteries is a breeze.
I think AI chips in computers may be interessting for buisnesses. On the one hand AI can make work flows more efficient on the other depending on what level of confidientality we're talking about firms could want to reduce the risk of a constant back and forth data stream beween central servers and individual devices, as that does present a potential vulnerability.
Finally I can use the Magic Eraser without paying subscription 😃
But Google will have access to your photos. It's paying with your data instead
The find my network sounds really promising. I really hope that samsung and tile eventually join up with it.
Replaceable batteries? In a TWS set? That's insane
As a fellow diver, that camera looks badass!

If phones could not be turned off when unlocked, find my phone would be more useful.
I'm confused by the headline, CPUs have basically always have had RAM. Although I guess this difference is this is directly accessible to programs unlike the processor cache
Well if you wanna be specific then you could say SRAM(cache) and DRAM(system RAM)
Having a few mb of cache is different from having a substitute for dimms.
@@GamesFromSpace yeah, but that's more quantity rather than having it at all
the differebce will be how comolex and e pensive the cpu will be and how you will be forced to chage cpu to get more ram
the plan later is add storage to, a nvme or something like that
@@joshuahillerup4290 Sure, if by quantity you mean a factor of literally thousands. You can't do anything productive with 16-32mb of ram, having a few gb is a completely different thing.
Hel ya. ,they solved the main issue with tws
Depending on the performance, I would absolutely buy a lunar lake laptop.
Just not as a laptop though. I would buy that as an AI inferencing machine. It needs to have high memory bandwidth. If I can use an external gpu alongside it then that’s even better. If I have to buy an Intel battle mage gpu then so be it.
We need more competition. I’d love to see 70b parameter llm benchmarks for when this laptop comes out.
Fairbuds could be the first wireless headphones I will buy. I'm still using wired headphones, but my new phone has no 3.5mm port, and I'm using an adapter
built in ram is the next logical solution, considering the delay between cpu time and chip refresh. I mean we are like at ddr5 and the timings like 30-35+ timings. or wait so many CPU cycles just to get in. Also if you look at L2, L3 cache how fast they are if you benchmark them. Our ram technology has to catch up. WE been on Gddr5/DDR5 technology since 2008! think about that, that's like 16 year old tech. I mean just think of it if we had additional 1TB L4 cache, we never need to go to the slower expandable SDRAM. Or if we can load a whole blu ray worth of data in 1/4 of a second instead of waiting for 3-6 seconds for it to load several BLU RAY games/data.
i look forward to Fridays....
It's fine for RAM to be in-built, if it is 16GB or above.
so people didn't get stoked enough to enable bluetooth mesh network tracking for possible covid exposures 4 years ago, now you get to be part of bluetooth mesh network to track others' peoples' keys and bags with app that's present by default on most android phones and sometimes can't even be uninstalled xD
Man I wish the fair phone was an option state side
Okay the 4 is an option u just have to pay upfront! Neat!
With Google losing marketshare every day in the US, it’s hard to place trust in their network to find my lost/stolen devices with their tags. If there’s no Android phone nearby, I’m just never finding my item. :-/
Could intel potentially use this to kill RAM upgradable as we know them (at least in laptops)?
Too early to say but maybe
the plan is down the road add storage, so i bet yes
@@betag24cn Well I can definitely say that happening since if I recall correctly Apple already did the exact same thing on their latest MacBooks.
Nothing says you can't have embedded RAM with RAM modules. One is just close to the CPU and has lower latency. OSes may need to support that but it's a good thing. Wish GPUs would do that too
8GB RAM is dead!
Would Linus bother reviewing the Fairbuds, lol
Hey! Remember to label sponsored content!
Replaceable batteries are not repairability. But it’s a good example.
It would be better if these processors support additional ram on the motherboard... Win win situation
I used to care about sound quality and had expensive headphones but if you aren't actively changing your headphones from good to bad its impossible to focus on what supposedly makes the good headphones so much better. Ok headphones for 30€ are really just as good as ones that cost 800€ when it comes to sound quality. If I am going cycling or doing chores I am not there thinking sound quality of my headphones is too low, if headphones work (battery) and they are conformable they are 10/10.
Wait is it Google find my the same thing that Samsung has had for at least a year at this point?
Replaceable lens protectors should be mandatory too
I think parts pairing reduces the value of stolen iphones and as and end user makes it less likely that my phone will be stolen and I"m sad that they are allowing it.
The Fairbuds seem to be as eco friendly as regular buds as the industry standard is to have excellent water resistance, making them prone to failure even more so if you exercise with them (sweat, rain, etc). I’d rather buy something cheaper and more durable
IP54 is actually pretty standard in this price range
please make the sponsor its own chapter
Fairphone rocks ...sort of.
☮
I just realized Google took ten years to do find my device feature.
Ram on board thisnfor thin laptop. But for laptop plus gpu I think tjis will hinder the users whonwanted to able to upgrade their ram system but students or.workers ij the office or mobile users might prefer this.
Bit gamers engineering who needs more rams will prefer system with sodim rams.
Vsauce, Michael here
That Fair ear-puds' price is unfair.
Why do you think so?
@@DerKommandant It is certainly doesn't deserve that much of money.
@@am_ma But why? And how much would you spend max?
Where do you memory on chip as an Apple move to memory on chip replacing onboard. CPUs had always had memory (several types to be specific) (aka cache), they just increased that memory which would help the onboard graphics and AI chip have more speed for some tasks.
This is call CPUs, ARM, AMD, Intel, etc.
It's been growing overtime on all CPUs.
Nothing new here
I think sometimes people actually believe the nonsense that Apple isn’t copied relentlessly throughout the industry. Of course RAM will be soldered on! As soon as companies can develop a SOC chip as effective as the M series without infringement, they’ll do it.
Actually, Intel released their bean canyon(with onPCB RAM) for the Apple Macbook in 2016; which was before the release of the M series. The Apple M1 has the onboard RAM(L4 cache on the Intel) but does not have the RAM sockets for additional RAM expansion of that original Intel processor. If nothing else, Apple copied the onPCB RAM design of Intel processors such as i5 8259u.
@@longdang2681 here we go. Another “Apple didn’t invent that” iPhone, personal computer voice assistant…comment. Whatever you say, the point still stands. Apple is still revolutionary. Too often when Apple introduces something into their product line the industry turns in that direction.
@@sharonb.9128 So when another company copies Apple's products; it's called copying. When Apple copies other companies products; it's called innovating?
There is nothing revolutionary about copying onPCB Ram. In fact, Apples implementation in the M1 is a step backwards as it doesn't have upgradeable RAM sockets. Intel doesn't need to copy Apple's implementation of onPCB RAM because they did it before Apple did. Apple copied them(or another company). The release dates of the Intel L4 cache processors is proof of that.
Soldered RAM is a rubbish implementation. Intel never implemented it as soldered RAM(they implemented it as soldered L4 cache).
@@longdang2681 make up your mind. Either Apple copied Intel or they didn’t. You are talking out of both sides! It really doesn’t matter and your triggered denial doesn’t change REALITY- Apple is considered the most innovative company in the industry. Other companies could’ve, should’ve or would’ve, but they DIDN’T! The absolute best other manufacturers can do is hear about Apple filing a PATENT, then beating Apple to market with their own idea. They know their desperate users don’t care. The iPhone, the Mac, AirPods, Siri, Find My, Apple CarPlay, Dynamic Island, M1, Apple pay and many other Apple ideas arrived without any help from Android whatsoever. As they say “and you got NOTHING”.
Ah yes, Apple security working as intended.
I bet Google's find my device will be on the Killed by Google page in 2-4 years...
It has existed since 2013.
@@someguy9175 You do know they killed that version right? And replaced it with one open to 3rd parties right?
@@ericneo2 killed? your version of killed is being updated to just support a better standard? does mojang kill minecraft everytime they ship a update? lmao
Repairability is being thrown out of the window. Tech developments started to be against the individual use and ownership.
