This might be one of the most capable 911 driving experiences to date. The owner of Guntherwerks set out to make a modern interpretation of the last air-cooled 911. But will this satisfy the luftgekühlt crowd? Henry Catchpole goes to the home of Guntherwerks, Huntington Beach California, and the famous LA crest to find out if this 911 can be among the ranks of other restomod companies such as Singer Vehicle Design, Theon and Paul Stevens.

I clicked on the video because Henry.
And expected “just another Guntherwerks video”.
I was wrong. This feels almost closer to a feature film. Carfection is king. 👑
Anything by Mr Catchpole from the early scribings at Evo to this cinematic brilliance is always worth checking out. Thanks mate.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@Carfection I always watch your video's you have that knack of grabbing a viewers attention with you commentary

Hears “down there”
Thinks “YEEEES”.
There’s no one I wanted more than the 6.5 foot, british wolverine with glasses to walk us through this work of automotive art.
I love what gunther works does, I love their passion, craft and philosophy. I’m not much of a 911 person, but I admire everything they do. From the technological aspect to the idealogical, from their lap times at leguna secs to their works of art up close
It’s on my milestone list that I will build myself the perfect car on a platform that i’ve been in love with since I was 5 years old. The budget might not be the same but my philosophy is similar
It’s my wish that great names will be able to experience this car and give their thoughts on it. I have a list, and it includes names such as james may, chris harris and gordon murray lol. But on the top of that list, sits one name above all.
“Henry Catchpole”
Because if there’s anyone who can showcase a car to the world, it’s him
That was epic and for me, Henry / Carfection has taken on the mantle as the best car reviewer out there. He now makes every review an emotional journey, assisted by the top quality production, to the point where you could almost be sitting alongside him. He doesn't get over-excited, or focus on 'Top Trumps' numbers and Pub talk and he doesn't over-elaborate on the technical stuff, which is still informative but which he explains in layman's terms. A brilliant presenter, and a fantastic production team working in harmony and improving all the time. Thanks for another brilliant watch!
Aye, aye, Sir!
Yes!
To me the holy trinity is: Henry, Jethro Bovingdon and Chris Harris; 3 of the best car reviewers out there. No bullshit, well informed on the technical as well as the emotional aspects of the vehicles they drive and their passion for the automotive world is just so intoxicating!
But he waffles on like a woman
This is by far the best review video I’ve watched of guntherwerks. Great stuff carfection!
You watch MrJWW? He’s practically sponsored by them and is aiming to have the 1st customer delivered car.
I've truly missed these Carfection mini-docs on boutique manufactures. Brilliant presentation all around...and I'm only at 01:58 😅. Thank you!
Glad you're enjoying it! More to come so keep an eye on your sub box
This is by far the best review video I’ve watched of guntherwerks.
beautiful driving sequences
The 993 is the Porsche for me. The sexiest Porsche ever. What a base !!!
5:02 that rear light looks astonishingly beautiful.
I don’t what it about the UK based automotive UA-camrs but their reviews are far superior to the US teams (not saying they are bad just a different style of presentation that is not typically my cup of tea). Maybe it’s the calm demeanor mixed with and high level of information presented. Carfection is the cream of the crop in this space. Please keep it up! I look forward to each and ever video.
Thank you for your kind words! Some of our favourites are US based for similar reasons.
@@Carfection Shall we add modesty to the list?
With an honorable recommendation for discount adam sandler
@@nl3712 Haha pretty sure i called him Happy Gilmore once 😆
Henry Catchpole NEVER disappoints. Best of the best on the UA-cam platform. I LOVE the Porsche videos he does. Inspirational & Emotional as always. Thank you so much.
I don't remember a Z3 being in a James Bond film, but I certainly remember the Z8 being highlighted. Fantastic review of an amazing car. Thank you!!
Goldeneye.
I would still go for the Singer 911s, but this is still a cool restomod nonetheless :). Epic video as always Henry and Carfection :)
What makes you pick one over the other? Out of curiosity.
@@Adam-M1 well one was not established because of Operation Paperclip?
@@hagestad are you asking me a question or giving me your opinion to the above? Bit confused. If you’re giving me your reason, that’s a fair point.
Doing to much gearing the whole video
Have you ever owned a 993?? Or Even the simplest of cayman? have you?
Camera angles are INCREDIBLE!!!! Sound recordings are OFF THE CHAIN!!!
Fantastic video again! Always proud to share through WOM that this is the best channel to view cars on. Thank you very much. Great new shooting angles btw. Camera / video editor is on point. Take care
Was half expecting Matt Farah to pop up in the canyons. Brilliant and elegantly articulate video as always Harry!
There really are very few motoring journalists that demand utter respect amongst true petrolheads. Henry is one of those.
One of the reasons I work hard in my career is the dream of owning something like this.
Keep it up!
Henry reviews are nothing short of spectacular, with each review he literally takes you on a emotional automotive journey like you are literally there. Welldone to Henry and production team.
Another great video chaps with some lovely camera work. Henry does such a good job of bringing these cars to life.

Thanks Henry. Love your passion and work! Keep it up.
Henry and team - as always, a fantastic video. I’m a mad 911 fan, and this restomod might be right up near the top of a very fancy tree.
Beautiful machine. Thanks mate
I have never seen production value like that on UA-cam, hats off to you Marc Ganley.
5:06 Perfection, no electric nonsense in sight 🙌❤
This is the best carfection video ever for me. It smashes the boundary of others being spec bounded reviews.
The video editing in this is really top notch! yeah the car is awesome too but the the cinematography and editing here deserves high praise..well done bro!
Keep on setting the bar higher! Love your work Henry!
Thank you
This is, without reservation, my favorite outlet for sports car appreciation in any media.
Exquisite engineering. The evolution of the air-cooled RS. Just lovely.
just what i needed after doing 1200 words, the narration is calm and assuring.
The 993 has always been my favourite generation of 911 and this restomod looks extremely beautiful.
I don't think that I would change anything or have a desire to make any modifications. For me that is extremely rare.
Effing unbelievable video, buddy. Thanks so much for the great edit and content. So good.
Glad you enjoyed it!
An absolutely fabulous production by Ganley and Catchpole, in sound and vision and review.
the intro about NASA is absolutely spot on. All about passion!
If you are still in Los Angeles come on a morning drive up Angeles Crest. Every Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 (911) in the morning a bunch of Porsche owner meet up at Newcomb's Ranch. Other great non-Porche cars show up as well. It's called The Good Vibes Breakfast Club. Amazing cars form all around Los Angeles and cool people.
The second day of ACH filming was on a Friday… and there was a quick appearance made. The Speedster was the subject that day too.)
Perfection. The review is perfection.
Yes, following your stories .........wow...........you make it all come into focus!
Saw a Porsche video, clicked as fast as i could. Didn't know it was a Carfection video until i heard "down there". My day just got much better!
A Carfection video with Petrolicious vibes, what a joy to watch 🎉
Henry and Guntherwerks...what a way to start the day
Amazingly good looking film, and car!
Excellence as always Team!
And the first 993 I've ever really liked the look of! 😎👌
That color combination is absolutely spectacular. The lighter green with the darker green "PORSCHE" on the door lowers, combined with that beautiful camel colored interior. I be thinkin' SINGER has some serious competition now!
The politest “I don’t really like it” I’ve heard for a while… 😂
Henry getting his pump on with that CF curl. Get it, bro!
Thanks carfection. Been thinking about an Guntherwerks, but just can't get an "allocation". Love them to bits!
The engine noise clip was a beautiful touch.
These guntherworks look absolutely stunning.
If there was no Singer, I would think this is the perfect Porsche, I would be astonished like I was when I discovered the cars of Rob Dickinson. I think this is also a great restomod, worth of the money required, but definetely, I would pick the Singer, the first one, that with only 350-380 Hp for a couple of reasons: first the styling; I find that first Singer absolutely astonishing from that point of view, well balanced, with unbeatable proportions, and over all this perfect shaped wheel archs, quith the bespoke Michelin tyres sides perfectly matching the rims, and perfectly filling the wheel archs, a masterpiece, a perfect sculpture of modern art; and second, the compactness of those first Singers: I find this Guntherwerks somewhat too wide to be ultimately enjoyed in the twisty B-roads I like most.
Points made, but I was stationed at JAC Molesworth and am intimately acquainted with your B roads, and you can keep them. Far too bumpy, far too greasy, and far too clogged with ridiculously slow diesel shit boxes. I will take California canyon roads any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I frankly wouldn’t pay for either the Singer or the Gunther, I’ll take my 991.2 C2S as it’s faster than I can drive it anyway. Happy motoring!
@@gouldnj I wish I could live nearer than 5900 miles (in straight line) to the mighty californian canyon roads you mention. But anyway I can still plenty enjoy my F-Type V8 RWD (which is also faster than I can drive it ... it could be said that I simply don't deserve it) in the also sunny B-roads near my little town, not that much bumby and greasy (just 500 m from home there's the start of a once world championship rally special stage), but sadly, even more full of slow diesel shit boxes than you imagine, and if the worst forecasts come true, soon full of EV-shit-boxes. Enjoy your superbly engineered (I'm not joking) 991.2 CS2 and the superb countryside that goes with! Thank you for your comment.
9:24 pure art! Well recorded
Enjoyed every second of this video 👍🏻 awesome
Great vid as expected
that shot at 9:26 ! ...And then a couple of others. Brilliant camera work.
Art that can be driven. Beautiful. 👌🏽
I am eternally happy that there is no snap crackle and pop in the exhaust! Sounds amazing.
The best car channel. Period.
A film like this contributes to the frenzy prices of air-cooled these days, but they are truly beautiful.
I have never seen a more beautiful car.
Car aside, the footage was utterly superb! Great work, keep it up. Thank you
Exquisite Production Sir 👌
Love it. Great review!
Great video and the car is absolutely stunning.
That "playful limit" is just at a higher speed. Fantastic video, great editing! 👍😀🏎
Love this channel! the unobtainium nature of some of these cars is a bit much, however, (yes, so stipulated, amazing cars, very well filmed), particularly now when "normal" car prices are insane.
Loved the video, thanks
Would you pick this, or a car by Singer?
They scratch slightly different itches, and I'd honestly go for the Guntherwerks!
Great vid!
Singer!
GW all the way!
RUF
Singer every time!
Aleluia..i have seen Stinger and other tuners here... Aleluia, you just hit the "G" spot on this awesome,as always, review.
Love the brand tested today, love your reviews too.
Great work 👌👌👏👏👏👏👏
Just amazing work as ever Henry and the team. Please keep doing what you’re doing, this is true motoring journalism.
beautiful car tastefully updated. That tail light, damnnnn.
That exhaust is ferocious.
Nice one guys, dream car, amazing film 👏👏👏
This is my dream car bar none and I don't understand why it's not everyone else's also.
Perfection.
So close to a million!!!
Its Henry!! I don't even have to watch the vid to know it's going to be awesome!
grading is top notch on this movie. very nice.
Thanks Henry!
Henry Catchpole please do a collab with Chris Harris and Matt Farrah. All of you are on point and legends. Keep it coming !
Award to writer of the pebble reference. Very nice!
The Bruce Banner reference was premo.👌🏾
Full marks Mr. Catchpole.
Thank you.
Car with soul great work
What an absolutely carfect video
Such a great review … very informative.
Love your watch too…. is it an IWC pilot?
I love that color. Recently painted my bug a similar green, but a shade lighter.
Amazing video wow
Great video thank you
Excellent vid.
Awesome video, that Car sounded insane when in Sport Mode, your so lucky to drive it, I love the Twisties, as I have a Fiesta ST, tricked out, it’s a street legal Go-Kart. The Fiesta Flash. 🤙🏼🍺🍺🍺
Gorgeous looking car, and sound! Well done video too. I find it amusing about the AZ Historical plate, it's essentially a brand new car, I know the cost of tags is less than normal plates.
Awesome work as usual Henry. I can tell the car didn’t appeal to you all that much as a great iteration of the 911 for that classic driving experience. The car is clearly over the top for anything but track work. I’m immensely enjoying my plain Jane Boxster S as it’s capable enough to drive faster than you should on the street, but usable every day and still quite entertaining, a lot like a regular 911, but at half the price and a more balanced and easy to drive at the limit chassis at 8/10’s with its mid engine. Can’t wait for the next review!
You sir, are Bruce Banner ruining another shirt of car reviews. The best automotive journalist of this generation. Please continue.
great vid thanks for sharing
Some great angles going on there 🎥
Thanks 👍
Can't believe I missed the meet the day you guys took this up there!
Another great video 👍❤️
Thank you 🤗
I really enjoy car reviews done by Henry and Chris Harris 💪
This is why people like Henry have an edge over your average youtuber, he has such a massive back catalogue of experience with so many great cars you have to take his opinions more seriously.
absolute dream car of mine :O
Excellent
Fantastic.
I watch all the videos with admiration and read everything that Henry Catchpole writes from the distant 2011 when the EVO car magazine fell into my hands. FROM 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 BIG THANKS AND RESPECT
