My whole comment in a nutshell: Please fix the physics and add more levels. Honestly, the biggest problem I had with Sonic Forces was Classic Sonic. His inclusion isn't what bothers me; It's the physics. Sure, Rolling downhill gives momentum like it should, fixed from Generations, but his jump feels a little too heavy and stiff at times. And the Drop Dash felt a little broken. Remember how Sonic's Spindash was so powerful in Generations? It's about as powerful as that, but going off a ledge makes you drop like an anchor. And the Double Jump once again is somewhat useless, since it only gives you a little bit of airtime. Sure, it can help crossing large gaps in one direction, but midair movement overall for every character isn't very good. But the biggest issue I have is that the game feels too short. I'm honestly hoping for an Episode Silver to explain why he's here, and how he fits into the story. And maybe even a kind of Aftermath DLC pack. Or, you know... an actual FIGHT with CHAOS? And, craziest of all... Episode Infinite? We don't get much about him, only learning things about him through Episode Shadow... All we get is that he's evil because Shadow made him shook. What else was he doing once he became powerful? How did he and Eggman meet? And, to remedy the lack of Classic Levels... Episode Classic. Just a series of levels explaining Classic's appearance, granted we all know it's because of Mania. Or, alternatively, it can just be some levels from AFTER he returned home, where he meets up with Classic Tails and Knuckles. And... one more thing... why is Super Sonic future DLC? When that's released, can we at least get some levels where we have to obtain the Chaos Emeralds ourselves? I'd rather not go "OH HEY, SOOPAH SANIC DEE ELL SEA, IMMA DOWNLOAD IT AN BAM IS SOOPAH SANIC". It just feels a little lackluster in my opinion to just do that. In almost every other game, you had to work for the Chaos Emeralds. It was rarely just handed to you. In Generations, for example, you had to play through special stages on the 3DS, or fight specific enemies and bosses for the Emeralds on Consoles. With the Exception of the 5th (Red) emerald, which IS handed to you.
The length of the game is the only big issue. Levels are funny, decently designed and the presentation is pretty great. Though classic sonic is a bit meh. I give it a solid 7 / 10

@@thelookingcat The people that say it sucks haven't played the game, it's just sad how much hate this gets for "the short levels", but I still have one complaint; IT'S FRICKIN' TOO SHORT!!!
I think it’s a painfully average game, and since it isn’t full price can’t really get too mad at it. I have no strong feelings for it one way or another haha. Personally don’t think it’s a bad game since it doesn’t really have any glitches or bugs, it plays well enough! It’s got some cool ideas like avatar creation, playing as Sonic, Shadow and Super Sonic in every stage, but can’t say it’s a good game because a lot of the three gameplay styles have poor controls. Modern Sonic’s levels are too short, he can’t drift, his boost is back to using wisps instead of rings like generations so you’ll be slower. Classic sonic is very stiff much worse than he was in generations, and especially worse than Mania sonic. Avatar is ok, he has a random acceleration shift randomly which I didn’t like and ruins precise platforming. story isn’t as serious as it advertised itself, no chaos boss fight which we rightfully expected considering he was in the trailer and was only brought back to appeal to nostalgia. They treat Sonic being tortured like a joke, infinite is by far the most underdeveloped villain since mephillis, however I did feel like mephillis was at least threatening occasionally and is the only villain in the franchise to actually kill Sonic so that’s honestly an insult to mephillis now that I think about it lol Overall, very mediocre game, but that’s to be expected. I would get Mania instead. That game was crafted with pure love and passion and you can really tell! Pretty sure it’s priced the same too.
I like the modern/avatar stage music but I can understand why it's not everyone's taste. Lots of people like Sonic Rush's OST but it wasn't my cup of tea, still a great game though.
Though Sonic have always been a dark game. Its just these past recent games that it try to be light hearted. I'm glad that the series are going back to its dark roots.
True, through they did had dark moments in them, mostly around the last few levels like the in Sonic 2, 3 and Knuckles. Sonic CD felt very dark and the final boss of Knuckles' Chaotix was very creepy. And both, the comics, cartoon and anime is bit dark. I don't think I'll personally rank this up there near Shadow level of dark or else this game be way more serious and less light hearted moments from Sonic.
Yeah, I think Sonic Forces was really good. I can understand why people dislike it, and I can agree with some of those things, but it’s just fun and responsive, and that soundtrack is so fucking good.
Great review! I've subbed and liked! Also I like how you've made the review amusing at some parts in the video. I think the reason as to why there are mixed reviews for Forces is because some people have based it around their own preferences. I'll be getting Forces soon and i'll see how it is for myself!
Most definitely! I think too many people wanted this to be a game with the style and flare of Mania but modern Sonic. To be honest, I want to go back at some point and do a Generations vs Forces video
Honestly, I think the game is amazing. Sure there are some glitches (if classic sonic hits a wall at high speeds, he falls at extreme speeds, giving you NO chance to recover) and some things I'm not a huge fan of (If sonic or shadow boosts in mid-air, they do like another mid-air jump and that can be really annoying) but I absolutely adore the game.
Dude L.A. Noir.... Forever I would tell a buddy of mine to shut up about it... then I played it, lol. I will definitely buy that on the switch to play portable. However we aren't in a hurry because our backlog is as long as the diameter of the earth.
Thing is, Classic Sonic wasn't shoehorned in to link with Mania. Forces was developed FIRST. It's clear they wanted to do a Generations 2 style game, but then thought it would be nice to create a game inbetween that which could link the two together and thus Mania was born. It was the other way around. Also, auto-scrolling is in nearly EVERY Sonic in existence I honestly don't know how anyone missed that. There's even auto-scrolling in Mania. C'mon man LOL
I like This Game and I like this review it showing the game in a positive light while also Showing the negatives it has this is A really good review! Thumbs up too you Man!
I like Forces! I enjoy Sonic Forces but I do see flaws but I had fun with it too! I know I'm late to say this but I agree with your opinions in this video!
Logan Moran don't get me wrong I love the classic games and mania a lot but forces felt more unique compared to other sonic games at least in the modern era
All my sonic friends looked at me weird when I said that this, 06, generations, and lost world, in that order from best to not best, were my top 4 sonic games and I'm a speedrunner...
I really liked this game. I would go as far as to say I like it more than the large majority of any sonic fan. I have no idea why I like it so much because I know it's not the best sonic game, but I've beaten it over 30 times in the 3 years I've had it
8.5/10 for me. Everything has effort put into it, and Forces is no exception, regardless of who it's made by, some people simply just don't understand that this game was made with love and care to be given out to such a wonderful community. Awesome review, I hope they make a sequel! :)
The moon has risen yeah i hate the people who hate this game!!! Like imagine if sega doesn’t released this game in 2017 and sega like being lazy no making a new game of sonic the fandom of sonic just asking sega to make a game of sonic because they want a new game of sonic to play and when sega released this game the fandom just hate this game....like enjoy the game!!damm it!
I enjoyed the game, but for the price, it's way too short. I would have liked atleast 10 more stages, but atleast the stages we got are good (in my opinion)
I think I'd agree. I'm glad it's a budget release, because I could not justify it if it were full price. I think more stages or additional length to existing stages would be good. Hopefully there were be more free DLC
Tbh I liked that game and I really appreciate it... *_People_* says that this game sucks for some reasons: _because of the OC, and some because of Classic Sonic_ *Well* you guys have to know that *you* asked _for it_ Now some people will say, _the control aren't good!!_ *know* that the controls are the same as _Sonic Generations_ and _Sonic Unleashed_ "The Graphics aren't that great..." *Um a 4K video game isn't great?.. Wait, what?* "SA2 is better than Sonic forces!" *You mean that non-HD game where Sonic and Shadow have to go through obstacles and, not to actually **_run_** at super speed?* Uhm... (tbh I am writing this before I am watching your video...) Well.. That's my opinion about that great game ^^
Next game the entire sonic team must work together since well, the more the better and faster things gets done. It would be great if they continue to improve the boost and the levels design and maybe having a mix of adventures and boost
Huh, nice review man, I liked it! Very fair and balanced, you had some good points, and you did see some good in this game! Everything you said seemed to be pretty accurate, and wow, surprising to hear that someone else likes the Genesis music too! When you mentioned Classic Sonic, I understood completely, and you mentioned the auto scroll section, agreed. You were very fair to this game, and gave it some nice constructive criticism, and I gotta give you props for that. Nice review, you just earned a sub!
Thank you tons! It's much appreciated! At the end of the day, Forces is most definitely a flawed game, but "flawed" doesn't necessarily mean "not fun". Definitely more content like this coming soon!
yes i love the unresponsive controls controls i love classic sonic being here for no reason i love all the poor effort levels i love all the re-used levels/bosses i love all the fake news sega telling us about this game saying shadow and chaos are gonna be bosses in the game but we don't fight em and i love the terrible story! this game is amazing!
and if you go for the pc version things get even better! you can play at 60fps solid at 4k ultra wide screen(if your pc's gud enough lol) and forces has an *amazing* potential for modding, even more than generations wich at it's time had a *ridiculously* big modding community, people just go to search any bad aspect and basing on it they say that the entire thing it's shit wich is hillarious and sad at the same time lol
Stuff We Play you think some sort of crossover might work. They did mention generations in forces atter all. Isn't there a mania tie in at the end of forces? Don't tell me! still working on the last boss in forces cuz I suck at but love sonic games. Love your videos. Keep up the good work!
Stuff We Play hey been a while. But if you liked forces and have a ps vita or psp you should check out sonic rival's! Very much like forces with a race element. Clunky controls though. Great fun if you get passed that.
the game feels like sonic satam in the modern timeline. feels very linear but focused. i personally think it needs a sequal to both polish and expand the forces series.
Your take on the game seems fair and honestly refreshing. I sincerely believe Sega tried with this game and that certain criticisms, while valid, have been surprisingly overblown that I can barely understand let alone relate to why some people feel the way they do. It's like they get a kick out imposing personal preconceptions over every and any experience in an attempt to collectively conform/validate their specific expectations. I don't see the value in doing that to media/art at least as a consumer i think it sometimes defeats the purpose. It may even even stifle and limit creativity on behalf of the creators in a broader sense. (And then there's the flipside where creators/artists sometimes conform to the perceived consumer which can also restrict creativity..) If one is inspired or passionate about something then I believe we should do something ourselves and make it our own. There's critique and then there's just flat out whinging and complaining. (I like to believe my ramblings fall into the former, hopefully..) XD
I most definitely agree! It's most certainly a flawed game, though I feel there is much fun to be had here. Though, I do bring up the point brought up by others such as SomecallmeJohnny that, perhaps moving forward, Sonic Team could benefit by taking a break and making a non-Sonic title, so to further bring out their creative abilities, or to even bring in some new, fresher faces to the team, so that they could take more risks next time but not have to worry as much about said risks leading to another 06 or Lost World. Also, much appreciated your comment. More than just ramblings, but rather some good points :)
@@redbool1115 Yeah right, just shut up and go to game-stop and get a copy of it. That'll change your mind. Anyways, just mind your own business and stop watching these videos to hate on them. This is meant to be a nice reminder to not judge a game by it's reviews.
Do you find it weird that NOBODY I mean no person who reviewed the game ever talked about the brilliant and gorgeous graphics of this game? And who cares if the game is too linear? Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations were almost just as linear so it could fit with the boost mechanic.
Definitely gorgeous looking! And true as that is, I think Forces may have felt more linear due to the stages typically being shorter than in those games, thus there being fewer overall alternate paths as a result
Hmmm... Nope. Unleashed and Generations had plenty of exploration An good example is Modern Seaside Hill which is one of the most explore heavy levels in the series
The reason why most people don't talk about that is because generations looked much better 6 years before and because they spent half the development time working on a new lighting engine and for it to end up like that is pretty disappointing.
Holy crap! The like to dislike ratio is absurd lol. Anyway, Sonic Forces was actually a decent game imo. Maybe even a good one. In fact, I'd go as far as saying it's a great one. Yes, it could've been WAY better and SEGA and Sonic Team should've put more effort into its quality. But the game isn't bad or even mediocre. However, it's not an amazing game either, but it does have some amazing things about it. The only things I would truly consider as "Main issues" of the game are its length, camera, glitches, and use of Classic Sonic and characters that appeared in previous installments (Like, of course, Chaos). As a Sonic game; it's still pretty dang good. Edit: I know this video/review is over three years old now, but I JUST discovered it.
I way agree on most of what you've said here! It's still a game I have a good bit of fun with when I play it - though, I'm much more likely to go back to Unleashed, Colours, or Generations if I want to play a Boost-style 3D Sonic game. I also did an updated review of Forces a year later that I still think more accurately sums up my current thoughts - and also that I feel is a bit better edited and presented haha
I have so much nostalgia for this game it was my first 3d sonic game and I would like to say: How the heck do you like the Classic Sonic soundtrack? I cant stand it but I love positive game reviews cause it seems like you were not looking for the bad things. Great video!
I bought this game on sale for PC on Humble Bundle the other day, and so far I've been enjoying it, especially as a fan of Sonic and particularly games like Colors and Generations.
I genuinely like it, it's a bit terrible in a few departments, but it's still a good game. It definitely isn't close to the best, but fun to play none the less.
Great review! I love Forces, I can't stop playing it. But like you said I do wish the stages and story was longer and I wish there was lot more boss fights, I was a bit disappointed that you don't get to fight Chaos or Shadow.
Yea it does seems like there is. The Chaos Emeralds wasn't even in it in some way, which is a bit odd since main games always had Chaos Emeralds in some fashion even if they wasn't part of the story. Not counting the story book service.
This is just one that I refused to buy lol. If I see it for $20, I'll pick it up, but at $40 there's just no way for me. I'd rather buy a physical copy of Mania, whenever they get on that.
Legit I'd pay full retail price for a physical Mania release. Like it'd be kind of crappy if they do release it at that price point (I see it as like a $30 release), but I'd be so down. Forces is fun though. Being completely honest here!
I agree!!!! I was so excited when I got sonic forces when I was younger! But I accidentally clicked new game and it wouldn’t let me go back after pressing it. I was on the final level
My favorite games of the year were Sonic Mania, Super Mario Odyssey and my favorite, Sonic Forces. Unfortunately I didn't get a Switch until Christmas and I didn't get much else for the rest of the year. However I am happy with what I did get, and I'm dedicating 2018 to getting all the games I missed this past year, because there were so many!
Sorry buddy, this video isn't going to get popular with 100k and 2 mil views because people love to bash Sonic and hate even good Modern Sonic games like Sonic forces These so called "Sonic fans" lol
Stuff We Play Lmaoo, but seriously tho, it's sad that those negative and just nit picky reviewers are getting so many views, guess people just love to watch people Bash Sonic games huh? Kinda saddening your video will not get the spotlight because the instant they would see it they would get annoyed and click away to some more negative and biased video
I think that's alright though. If that's how they truly feel about the game, so be it. I'm sure many of them, though compared to mine their opinions are dissenting, have even better produced videos and what not and for that they deserve the attention. Besides, I went into this knowing I'd be a bit of a contrarian, and that's okay
I have that Sonic Team has been told by Sega to tone down the story. I sort of like the story though, I have seen many games that with customise characters, they don't really form a connection with you and your character. I felt connected to my character because they show more emotions and that they struggle. Even though I can see why some would think the story is a fan fiction, it's a good fan fiction. (Especially since it doesn't have your character be Sonic's boyfriend/girlfriend.)
Might disagree there. It's a bit to corny and overly serious for my taking (especially with how Knuckles acts). Also, needs more Eggman, cause Mike Pollock once again rocks every single scene with Eggman
well my point is everybody acts like it was never used in a sonic game and in sonic colors there was springs that followed you when you go right but not left those were side scrolling levels in disguse
I love this game but I did notice some things, modern sonic stages, for example mortar canyon and luminance forest kinda controlled it for you when you boosted and in mortar canyon in one part when boosting you can fucking fly. Two, in classic stages, I was playing generations and I did notice that classic Forces and generations the physics were different. Three, they seemed to want to plaster the avatar all over the place. But the stages are great, have great replay value and has some pumpin ass music.
I always assumed most all of 'serious' Sonic stories have always been at least somewhat self-aware of the juxtiposition they find themselves in. Forces seemed like it had a deliberate coating of cheese and is actually somewhat amusing and charming for it. At least i sincerely hope it's self-awareness that i'm crediting this to haha.
Ah I love the terrible gameplay, story, controls a terrible auto scroller in a sonic game losing all your speed in a jump as classic sonic not being able to run up ramps as classic sonic the game is the best ever
Dude, did you even listen to the freaking review? He never said it was the best Sonic Game. He only said it was a good game. Finish the damn video before stating your opinion.
Loved the video! I don't think I'll buy this because I feel like only true sonic fans will like this (which isn't me), and I heard from other reviews that this game is just holding forward and spamming homing attack. But I liked the vid, and you just earned yourself a sub!
+IamTabu - Nintendo Commentary thank you tons! It's definitely not for everyone and I can certainly see why. Definitely had a good bit of fun myself though :)
what do u mean true sonic fans will like it, that is the opposite, i played unleashed it was amazing and comparing unleashed to forces, forces is trash compared to unleashed, a true sonic fan will HATE it not love it
I'm playing through it now and thinking about making a review myself. I love it. I haven't played sonic mania, only played adventure 1 and 2 (and 06 but heh let's pretend that's not why I haven't played a sonic game until now) and i'm a big fan. No connections or nostalgia for the 2d games. I love character creation in any game too
Not to sound negative but your ideas of fun level design should be elaborated. I'm having a hard time understanding how one could like bland design with poor physics (from my bias view). Perhaps you see something I'm not seeing here.
Bought this game after all the reviews for a lower price so maybe my standards were low but.....I actually loved it The graphics look great, not too dark/edgy soundtrack is kickass Infinite is a fantastic villain Plot was epic without going too over the top, and I mean who didn't laugh at some of the cheesy ass dialogue? The avatar was awesome if you get creative and personalises the game Levels were genuinely fun if a bit short and a bit too linear, but hey we got 30 of them and at least they don't overstay their welcome, plus there's replay-ability with ranks, red rings...they're fun to blast through and that's all I want in Sonic My main criticism would just be Classic Sonic, but I mean he plays well enough (I had no real control issues), and he never sticks around for too long so it's okay... I mean it's a nice break of pace now and again
I love the sonic music, I hum it sometimes ah now it's in my head. Love it. I liked your review good to hear you went back to it for the love of the game and not the review. I have a switch and played Mario Odyssey and love Sonic but I did not get this one, for sure gonna pick it up lol I don't know why I didn't. But Breath of the Wild was great.
Glad you enjoyed the review! :) BOTW and Odyssey were fantastic! This game isn't as good as those, just to be clear, but at the price point I think there's a ton of fun to be had here and, I think I'm actually sinking more time into bonus challenges and S-ranking stages than I thought I would, which I think is quite good :)
Stuff We Play . Because it runs better. Let's say someone had a Switch and a PS4. And they never use the Switch outside of the house. There's not a good reason to buy the inferior Switch version if they have a PS4. Like I said, it's fine if you only have a Switch or you really want to play portably, maybe even for collection purposes. But, other than that, I don't see a reason to buy a version that runs worse than other platforms.
Since their releasing super sonic for a paid amount I think what they should do is release 15 more levels that take place after the game where you play as supersonic and your chasing down infinite after you find out he's still kicking around you will only play as modern supersonic and the levels will be old levels but not. From forces and ones we haven't seen in 3d yet with the motor canyon type level design because it was open and it worked with the boost gameplay and that's how every other modern game should go
Stuff We Play that would be cool but if they did it after that would remove the confusion of what happened to infinite after he flew away although I would like to see a infinite dlc where he learns to control he's powers or even just a dlc that gives you extra maps like hydrocity in 3D or some mania zones in 3D asl ong as they don't butcher them
I really enjoyed Sonic Forces probably because I expected way worse, but I found out it wasn't as bad as people say it was. I do like Sonic Mania and Mario Odyssey better but I think this game is WAY too overhated. (That's just my opinion)
What are your thoughts on Sonic Forces or Sonic the Hedgehog in general? Let me know!
Are the Tag Team stages fully 3D as it seemed in the trailers?

Though Sonic have always been a dark game. Its just these past recent games that it try to be light hearted. I'm glad that the series are going back to its dark roots.
+UltimateSuperX the Genesis games were very light hearted and cartoony though. This was just a few steps away from Shadow levels of dark
Wanna See Dark? Look no further then Dark sonic people!
(That or all of Season 3 of SonicX)
Well, I don’t want the sonic Franchise to be TOO dark.
They still had dark moments, though. Even Sonic Lost World mentioned genocide.
this review really shifted my view on the game, might give it a try after this.
Finally I found someone who actually likes Sonic Forces as much as I do.
Yeah! It's a good time!
Yeah, I think Sonic Forces was really good. I can understand why people dislike it, and I can agree with some of those things, but it’s just fun and responsive, and that soundtrack is so fucking good.
It has a Sanic t shirt enough said
True that
@@StuffWePlay I got all the DCLs for the game before I even played it lol
@@karenruble4989Same.
FINALLY! Someone who doesn't bash the game and say it's crap just because of Sonic.
+Aldo Van Dyck thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Stuff We Play Nice. I'll be looking forward to that!
Went in with really low expectations & walked away with it being one of my favorite Sonic games. Accurate review btw!
Thank you tons!
I went in with high expectations and came out with it being my fav
Honestly, I think the game is amazing. Sure there are some glitches (if classic sonic hits a wall at high speeds, he falls at extreme speeds, giving you NO chance to recover) and some things I'm not a huge fan of (If sonic or shadow boosts in mid-air, they do like another mid-air jump and that can be really annoying) but I absolutely adore the game.
I think I described it as "flawed, yet fun." And there's definitely a lot of fun to be had! :)
Man we gotta catch up on our switch games! A lot of the games look enjoyable.
So many great ones coming out! Doom this Friday, plus LA Noire, Xenoblade Chronicles 2...Nintendo is sucking my wallet dry!
Dude L.A. Noir.... Forever I would tell a buddy of mine to shut up about it... then I played it, lol. I will definitely buy that on the switch to play portable. However we aren't in a hurry because our backlog is as long as the diameter of the earth.
Same here! Haha I'm finally setting time aside to get through the backlog, but it still feels like it's getting hopelessly longer by the day!
90% of people that hated the game are the sonic fanbase and
10% is the people who just wanna have fun with a game and can actually easily be pleased
Was it SomeCallMeJohnny who said true Sonic fans hate Sonic?
Stuff We Play I have no clue I don't really watch him but i also respect your opinion on the game like most ppl should do!
Literal facts. Most of the time, I just think that Sonic Fans flat out hate Sonic because of this behavior.
I don't know how to agree more. Thank you so much for giving this game positive reviews.
I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
I like This Game and I like this review it showing the game in a positive light while also Showing the negatives it has this is A really good review! Thumbs up too you Man!
Thank you! I tried to make it as balanced as I could!
I think sonic forces is a great game
It definitely gets too much hate!
I like Forces! I enjoy Sonic Forces but I do see flaws but I had fun with it too! I know I'm late to say this but I agree with your opinions in this video!
Thank you! I still quite enjoy the game, though I actually have an updated, more in-depth review of Forces that I put out a year later!
The music in the game was pretty good like sunset heights, the light of hope, fist bump, etc.
Real talk, a lot of it grew on me over time
FINALLY!!! Someone likes the game! I like it too, so I'm so happy to see other people enjoying it.
It's definitely not perfect, but I had a lot of fun with it :)
Stuff We Play Definitely. But that autoscroll level was so stressful!
@@laura-jeanrunchman7109 I liked it tho
whats your favorite sonic game and least favorite sonic game?
Favourite: CD (Though Mania may take that spot if it gets a physical release.
Least favourite: '06. Still legit the worst game I've ever played
Best:Sonic forces
Worst:Boom
I can agree with Boom. But would you rate Forces over the classic games or Mania?
Logan Moran don't get me wrong I love the classic games and mania a lot but forces felt more unique compared to other sonic games at least in the modern era
I think this is the first time someones favorite sonic game was 3d that wasn't adventure 1 or 2 and for those people it's just because of nostalgia
All my sonic friends looked at me weird when I said that this, 06, generations, and lost world, in that order from best to not best, were my top 4 sonic games and I'm a speedrunner...
I started the Sonic series during the quarantine, i am finishing unleashed right now and 06 is the one i am missing, can't wait to play it
Casual fan.
legitimately awful opinion.
Thank you so much, and I think the game just isn't what a lot of people wanted, despite being fairly solid!
There is! Mania plus!
I like Forces
Same here
Like it's definitely a flawed game, but I had a ton of fun with it
People hate it because it’s short and because of infinite I DONT KNOW WHY ITS A GREAT GAME!!!!!
I like Forces! I'm glad I can find people who share the same feelings that I do!
Hopefully there were be more free DLC
name me 1 sonic game that is longer than 3 hours without padding
Speacail bonus secret stages
Milkshake Mastery
Describe what you mean by padding.
something that slows the game down for no discernible reason
A well made positive review on this game. Never thought I’d see the day.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I actually have a "one year later" review out on it next month :)
Stuff We Play cool! Looking forward to it.
Started watching your content today from your Sonic Megamix video! I’m loving your videos, great work!
It's much appreciated!
No problem! :)
Who else cringed when modern sonic said "I haven't seen you in generations" to classic?
I legit laughed, but that's only because I love horrible puns haha
Stuff We Play usually I do, no idea why this one got that reaction. I don't often cringe normally I cause other to cringe you know?

"Cringe"
Tbh I liked that game and I really appreciate it...
*_People_* says that this game sucks for some reasons: _because of the OC, and some because of Classic Sonic_
*Well* you guys have to know that *you* asked _for it_
Now some people will say, _the control aren't good!!_ *know* that the controls are the same as _Sonic Generations_ and _Sonic Unleashed_
"The Graphics aren't that great..."
*Um a 4K video game isn't great?.. Wait, what?*
"SA2 is better than Sonic forces!"
*You mean that non-HD game where Sonic and Shadow have to go through obstacles and, not to actually **_run_** at super speed?*
Uhm... (tbh I am writing this before I am watching your video...)
Well.. That's my opinion about that great game ^^
Next game the entire sonic team must work together since well, the more the better and faster things gets done. It would be great if they continue to improve the boost and the levels design and maybe having a mix of adventures and boost
Either that or getting the Mania team back to help would be nice
Stuff We Play although that would be good we should at leasts give sonic team a chance to try make a good game as well
Me when I see sonic forces hate: yeah 06 is worse
We know it has flaws
I mean it's hard to argue against all that. But my biggest problem with the game is simply how automated and the missed potential it has.
"unresponsive controls" hmmm, I dunno, maybe your controller sucks?...
@@theretrorover3447 i think you have never played sonic forces. PLAY IT THEN COME BACK
@@mcsquid9110 cry about it
and if you go for the pc version things get even better! you can play at 60fps solid at 4k ultra wide screen(if your pc's gud enough lol) and forces has an *amazing* potential for modding, even more than generations wich at it's time had a *ridiculously* big modding community, people just go to search any bad aspect and basing on it they say that the entire thing it's shit wich is hillarious and sad at the same time lol
More reason for me to finally get a proper gaming PC!
Finally someone else who likes Sonic Forces.
I had a good time overall :)
I also now want a full retail 3d sonic game! Sonic forces 2 maybe or a mania forces weird crossover?!?!?
I think a Mania 2 would be incredible
Stuff We Play you think some sort of crossover might work. They did mention generations in forces atter all. Isn't there a mania tie in at the end of forces? Don't tell me! still working on the last boss in forces cuz I suck at but love sonic games. Love your videos. Keep up the good work!
I think it'd be interesting for sure :) Also, thanks for the kind words!
Stuff We Play fingers crossed for mania 2 and forceres 2!
I'm wondering if this is a route they'll want to even continue with, tbh
Finally! somebody agree!
to be honest, I cannot tell bad things about anything,
not even sonic boom and sonic 06
Eh, those two things were pretty atrocious though. Sonic 06 was so bad it turned me off from Sonic in general for a few years
I agree with the title.
+Minecraft Sonic gaming woo!
(And then there's the flipside where creators/artists sometimes conform to the perceived consumer which can also restrict creativity..)
If one is inspired or passionate about something then I believe we should do something ourselves and make it our own. There's critique and then there's just flat out whinging and complaining. (I like to believe my ramblings fall into the former, hopefully..) XD
tl;dr
Whinging about whingers. :P
I just saw this review. And althought it has been a few years since I played it, this review honestly remined me what I liked about it.
Thank you every review I've seen they say it's a meh game or a complete pile of shit
+Finley 978 I feel there's a lot of good in Forces that a lot of other reviewers weren't seeing. I'm glad you enjoyed my take :)
its their opinion i agree with it the game is awful
Finley 978 i love this game
@@redbool1115 Okay boomer lol. 🙄😌
@@redbool1115 Yeah right, just shut up and go to game-stop and get a copy of it. That'll change your mind. Anyways, just mind your own business and stop watching these videos to hate on them. This is meant to be a nice reminder to not judge a game by it's reviews.
It's really good when I played it
And lost world isn't bad as well
Do you find it weird that NOBODY I mean no person who reviewed the game ever talked about the brilliant and gorgeous graphics of this game? And who cares if the game is too linear? Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations were almost just as linear so it could fit with the boost mechanic.
Definitely gorgeous looking! And true as that is, I think Forces may have felt more linear due to the stages typically being shorter than in those games, thus there being fewer overall alternate paths as a result
Hmmm... Nope.
Unleashed and Generations had plenty of exploration
An good example is Modern Seaside Hill which is one of the most explore heavy levels in the series
The reason why most people don't talk about that is because generations looked much better 6 years before and because they spent half the development time working on a new lighting engine and for it to end up like that is pretty disappointing.
@@Octosona This comment is 3 years old and my opinions have massively changed since then
Terrible comment.
If you were to play Sonic Mania and then Forces right afterwards, it feels like a full game.
"Sonic Mania Forces"
I need to try that out!
IMO It's a great game.
It's a lot of fun!
Stuff We Play yep
I bought this game on sale for PC on Humble Bundle the other day, and so far I've been enjoying it, especially as a fan of Sonic and particularly games like Colors and Generations.
Even now I still think it gets too much hate overall. Not spectacular, but still fun
How where the 3 hours?
I genuinely like it, it's a bit terrible in a few departments, but it's still a good game. It definitely isn't close to the best, but fun to play none the less.
It's most definitely flawed but fun

Jk I loved it
Great review! I love Forces, I can't stop playing it. But like you said I do wish the stages and story was longer and I wish there was lot more boss fights, I was a bit disappointed that you don't get to fight Chaos or Shadow.
+UltimateSuperX Same here! I feel like there must be a lot of cut content, because Xhaos is shown in the trailers and intro but you never fight him.
The Golden Bolt's Game Reviews if you refuse to buy it y are you watching a review of the game ?

So many great Switch games though!
Yeah, I really like the system, I just haven't had it for very long.
Sorry buddy, this video isn't going to get popular with 100k and 2 mil views because people love to bash Sonic and hate even good Modern Sonic games like Sonic forces
These so called "Sonic fans" lol
To quote Brainscratchcomms: "We all know that a true Sonic fan, actually hates Sonic."
Bad reviews aren't always for "exposure". A game CAN be bad, and from what I've seen, the game is probably mediocre.
Stuff We Play I'm a true fan, but that's exactly why I stay away from the fanbase. I enjoyed Forces, and I would like to keep it that way
I have that Sonic Team has been told by Sega to tone down the story.
05:56 There was an auto scrolling level in sonic 3 & knuckles goddamit why does nobody acknowledges it
+Silver Hedgeho Because that sucked too
well my point is everybody acts like it was never used in a sonic game and in sonic colors there was springs that followed you when you go right but not left those were side scrolling levels in disguse
I dont think it's bad or anything, but with all the games out this holiday i really cant spare the 40 dollars unless it's like a nintendo exclusive.
I can definitely understand that point, especially with some of the incredible titles that have recently come out/that are coming out
BargrosNintendoGames Yeah, either a Nintendo game, Bethesda, or Capcom game *sometimes*.
Sequel to Sonic Forces be like,
Sonic Forces You To Watch The Game Play Itself. Sonic Forces2
Rated B for BORING
Did anyone else notice that Rouge made a freedom fighters reference?
I hadn't, but that's really cool!
45 people are the Sonic Forces Haters. The Sonic Forces Defense Squad are getting angry.
Great Review! I think this game is great! Other than a few hiccups it's worth getting if you want an Next Gen Sonic Game! I give it an 8/10!
Thank you! It's certainly not a Mario Odyssey, but it's certainly a bunch of fun (especially at the $25 Black Friday price at GameStop!)
I honestly really liked this game when I got it last year! My only thing is level 25 can absolutely *perish*
ikr but this was great
I love this game but I did notice some things, modern sonic stages, for example mortar canyon and luminance forest kinda controlled it for you when you boosted and in mortar canyon in one part when boosting you can fucking fly. Two, in classic stages, I was playing generations and I did notice that classic Forces and generations the physics were different. Three, they seemed to want to plaster the avatar all over the place. But the stages are great, have great replay value and has some pumpin ass music.
Definitely agree with the avatar stages. I wish there were less in-stage cutscenes and that most stages were a bit longer
Is Sonic Forces and Sonic Mania both worth it?
Yes, though I'd say Mania moreso
Stuff We Play OK
Good Video!
Thanks!
Same here haha! Like, I enjoyed the cheese and felt like it was intentional, because without said cheese, the story is a burning dumpster fire
+Stuff We Play
Lmao.. This is probably a very valid point. XD
Ah I love the terrible gameplay, story, controls a terrible auto scroller in a sonic game losing all your speed in a jump as classic sonic not being able to run up ramps as classic sonic the game is the best ever

I love character creation in any game too
It's a fun time for sure, though if you get a chance definitely play Mania
This game is worth a blast of fun!
+Daquan Harrison definitely would agree!
Nani, a good sonic forces review
I love the game
I think the game is underrated, but I recommend you use the Pro controller for the Switch version. It has better responsiveness on the controls
Wish I had a pro controller haha
Well, I would however not recommend playing with the joycons separated. I can tell ya from experience that's a slippery slope.
Sega Sonic Lol underrated.
Sonic Forces sold 1 million copies.
*And I think this game is pretty good, not amazing, but pretty good 3/5*
Not to sound negative but your ideas of fun level design should be elaborated. I'm having a hard time understanding how one could like bland design with poor physics (from my bias view).
Perhaps you see something I'm not seeing here.
Perhaps I am. I'm planning a follow up video to this though, so stay tuned!
FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS ME! SONIC FORCES IS A GREAT GAME!
One question:
Of all the time you spent on the game, how much of it was automated or took few button presses?
Another major problem with some stages. However, not as much time as you'd think.
Bought this game after all the reviews for a lower price so maybe my standards were low but.....I actually loved it
The graphics look great, not too dark/edgy
soundtrack is kickass
Infinite is a fantastic villain
Plot was epic without going too over the top, and I mean who didn't laugh at some of the cheesy ass dialogue?
The avatar was awesome if you get creative and personalises the game
Levels were genuinely fun if a bit short and a bit too linear, but hey we got 30 of them and at least they don't overstay their welcome, plus there's replay-ability with ranks, red rings...they're fun to blast through and that's all I want in Sonic
My main criticism would just be Classic Sonic, but I mean he plays well enough (I had no real control issues), and he never sticks around for too long so it's okay... I mean it's a nice break of pace now and again
I'm here to see others views of this game though I don't like it i enjoy seeing others opinions
Is it bad I like sonic 06
To each their own, though I despise it!
5:53 Sonic 1 Master System - Bridge zone Act 2
Just play it. You will see...
I actually brought that up in my review of Sonic 1 on Master System haha
BRUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA
lol
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Biggest pain of the game was stage 25 died so many times
Same here
I still haven't finished that
get good noob
Unless you only have a Switch or *REALLY* like the Switch's portability, I recommend you buy it on another platform.
And why is that?
Stuff We Play . Because it runs better. Let's say someone had a Switch and a PS4. And they never use the Switch outside of the house. There's not a good reason to buy the inferior Switch version if they have a PS4. Like I said, it's fine if you only have a Switch or you really want to play portably, maybe even for collection purposes. But, other than that, I don't see a reason to buy a version that runs worse than other platforms.
Perhaps that's why I was fine with it. I usually play my games portably
Since their releasing super sonic for a paid amount I think what they should do is release 15 more levels that take place after the game where you play as supersonic and your chasing down infinite after you find out he's still kicking around you will only play as modern supersonic and the levels will be old levels but not. From forces and ones we haven't seen in 3d yet with the motor canyon type level design because it was open and it worked with the boost gameplay and that's how every other modern game should go
That could be cool! Either that, or I'd like to see just some more basic free DLC packs that take place before the game
Definitely agree here! Not a perfect game by any use of the word, but I had a great time here overall
It should be cheaper than mania since its shorter than mania
I think the $25 Black Friday price for Forces should stick
Even calling it mediocre is being too kind, it belongs in the trash.
Okay and that’s your opinion
I feel the same way it is worth it those people who refuse to buy it are totally missing out!
There's a lot of good here that I just didn't think a lot of people were seeing!
no im honored to not waste forty bucks on a dissapointing straight line badly physiced bad music'ed game
