Killer man, Exciter steamrolling pooooooooooooosers since 1980. People don't realize how hard it is to tour a band in Canada compared to the States. I live in Canada and only saw Exciter once.
An absolute Metal Legend! I know Thrash took off and became the biggest Metal subgenre of the 80s but over the past few years I've came to really appreciate Speed Metal as something that's equally valid and has it's own style and energy. Exciter's 80s records stand toe-to-toe with ANY of the Thrash bands. I say that Thrash packs more CRUNCH, but Speed packs more PUNCH!
The first metal show I ever went to was megadeth and korn opened for them back in 95 when no one knew them. I loved megadeth but didn’t know korn I was 14 and korn left a impression on me I was so high on shr00ms too haha
Speed and trash are the same thing. Megadeth used to have a shirt around the time of Killing is my biz that said “State of the art speed metal” on the back. People obsess over sub genres too much
@@thadood4373 The reason Exciter are underrated is because Speed and Thrash are not the same thing, Speed was a sub-genre that was the half-way stepping stone between Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal. The problem is - after 1985/6 - Thrash dominated so much that a band like Exciter had a sound that was viewed as outdated by some. Even Metallica have payed respect to their Speed Metal roots with their newer song "Lux Æterna". Listen to the difference between that song and a song like "Battery" which is pure Thrash.
Awesome interview with Dan the Man! I saw Exciter in 1985 (Megadeth and Exodus opened). Great to see that he's still a "Heavy Metal Maniac" and "Pounding Metal" 40 years later! Long Live the Loud.
That's awesome dude congratulations on that \m/ . . . Do you guys still record with Dan kline ? I've worked with him a few times, but haven't seen or talked to him in years.
This is so awesome!!! I saw Exciter in San Diego... I believe it was 1984, and Megadeth was the opening act. The show was held in a roller rink, and there were as many punks as there were metalheads in there. I'm an "old head" and let me say that the 80's were magical years to be a young metalhead looking to find something besides lame ass hair metal. Horns up Devils!!
Scarygoat. It was a slammin scene, metal/punk crossover. Lotsa local gigs. I'm east coast canadian and the scene was all over Canada/ east coast states, DIY. Truly a FKN Brotherhood! Hail!!
@@timbeck6726 I still live in San Diego and with Los Angeles right up the freeway, we had so many choices, and the scene was pumping!!! Glad to see the Old Heads can still unite from wherever we are!!!
Feel the Knife is a badass song and they just threw it together in half an hour lol great interview. One of the few drummer vocalist out there and super fucking talented.
A true old school guy, only does it old school because it's the only way he knows. A lot of "WE'RE BAAAAAAAACK!" bands sure could learn a lot! Also helps that the tuneskis are killer aaaaaaas fuuuuck, Exciter is definitely on my list of bands anyone into Metal should almost mandatory pick up at some point.
@@SuicidalGrind Been a while since I've watched any of their videos, but if I recall there were a couple of people there who legitimately were into underground metal and didn't just limit themselves to bigger bands. I think it was Blayne, Sarah, and that Bradley guy.
Dude said "God bless them!" While wearing a 666 shirt. Lol. Just had to point that out. Not taking anything away from the band, just thought that was funny.

Great interview. I've never seen this band live, but have been a big fan for a long time. Eric Adams of Manowar once told me how much he thought Exciter was a great band with an awesome drummer. 🤘
Amazing band. Met all of them back in the late 80's, autographs, talking to them, the best band to talk too, amazing band, brilliant people, genuine dudes, full respect to them. Seen them 3 times now, they play again in the UK, I WILL BE THERE. An Honest, genuine, Metal Band. RESPECT SIRS.
Dan is awesome. My wife meet him in Philly. Had no idea who he was. They were chatting about Coroner. I almost dropped my beer when I see them chilling at the bar. The guy was friendly, super shy but a real down to earth guy.
And I tried to nail an Interview with them In Montreal on the 19th of OCT..... Ohhh well. Great Stuff on Justin for nailing interview with DAN the Original EXCITER 😁👍
I bought violence and force and heavy metal maniac when they were new at the only store in dfw that sold combat at the time and saw the tour with fate and Motörhead in 84, skipped school that day and waited for fate to show up at the same store to sign shit, still have the ticket and will always remember like it was yesterday, one of those life changing events
Exciter was my favorite metal band in '83-'84, (until we discovered Overkill in '85) I saw them on that '84 tour with Motorhead and Fate in NJ, and I was effing pissed because we got lost driving out there from LINY and ended up missing half of Exciter's set. But that's always been my problem with shows, the opening bands are often the ones I want to see the most. But man he looks old now, he's a few months younger than me but he looks old AF.
I seen you guys in 1984 Phoenix az. At mason jar exciter violence and force tour with flotsam & jetsom with Jason opened up . Still have photos of you guys wearing your metal studs pounding metal I had the tour shirt with the switch blade on it. Memories I was 14 teen .
Justin hit it on the nail with the Witch Cross example.. I was thinking the same thing.. Thank goodness this sounds like hope that a new Exciter would not lose its Exciter magic and sound

Hell yeah this is great 👍the dawg got heavy metal royaltyright now, Hail exciter. I've been jamming metal maniacs on cassette in my 96 Nissan altima for the past week \m/
Saw Dan & Exciter headline the Cabaret Metro in Chicago in '84. The first underground metal show I ever saw. They don't get the props they deserve for being at the forefront of an emerging genre. Kinda like their Canadian brethren Anvil.
