Mel when I make my Philly Beefsteak Casserole, I use Hillshire farm deli select beef and chopped it up, add onions, bell pepper like you did, and instead of the gravy packet we add beef broth,m worchestire sauce and aunti nono's. Then drain excess fluid and put in backing dish. THen add Provolone cheese. I bake like you do, 25 minutes. I don't add the bisquick on the bottom. MY family puts the casserole on rolls and I eat it like a keto meal with salad. I will try this recipe you did here, but without the bisquick it looks delicious too.
I cant wait to try the tortellini casserole, it looks delicious. We love a good casserole. I make poppy seed chicken all the time, we love it. I've never put almonds on top however I'm willing to try it, thanks for sharing. I feel like I'm cooking with my mama when I'm watching you cook, so comfortable and so real in the kitchen. We rarely every measured anything and she taught me all I know about cooking. She was a phenomenal southern cook. This time of year was our time to get together and make her homemade, old fashioned fruit cakes. Everyone in our area loved them and she would sell them and make "her Christmas money". I saw the candied fruit in WalMart the other day and almost cried. She died suddenly and unexpectedly 7/3/2021 and I miss her like crazy. She was my very best friend. Enjoy spending time with your mama because I can tell you I have never experienced a loss like it. She would LOVE your channel. So thank you for taking me back home. God bless!
I would love to make your momma's fruitcake recipe, if you are willing to share. I've been looking for a good recipe for years. My family does not appreciate fruitcake, but I am a big fan. ❤
Hello Mama Mel, Casseroles are always a hit. Thanks for sharing. Especially during the holidays that are coming up,when we don't want to cook a lot, right before Thanksgiving. Thanks for all of your prayers, our little town is just about cleared up now from the storm. Ya'll be blessed and enjoy y'alls night and have a wonderful week ahead. ❤❤❤
It's the best, great quality and value and I have never had one single problem with a shipment. Thanks for being here, I'm praying for you and hope you have a wonderful week 😊
Hi Mel! I'm all for a cozy and comforting casserole. They're perfect for this time of year. These look and sound absolutely delicious! I love adding spinach to recipes too. Great way to get some extra nutrients and it's pretty too. Herbs are easy to grow. They really don't require a lot of care and I always plant them. They're easy to dry too. I think you and your daughter will enjoy growing them. I know the chicken and tortellini will be one I'm going to love. Yum! I love a good Philly cheese steak but I know what you mean about the stringy meat. I take half the meat off the sandwich. Lol Love the flavors though. What a neat idea to make it in casserole form. I'm definitely trying it! The poppy seed casserole looks yummy too. As always, Mel, thanks for bringing us delicious recipes week after week and for all of your hard work. You are always appreciated. I hope you and your family have a blessed and beautiful week. 💕
Thank YOU so much sweet Mary, I hope we have as good luck as you with our herbs next year. And hope you enjoy all these dishes this winter too. Thank you so much for your kindness and support, I appreciate you ❤️
Mel these recipes are all going to become our favorites I can just tell. I too do not like Philly sandwiches - again we could be besties! Lots of similar likes and dislikes. Your tips are super helpful again. Washing onions, broth base, spraying foil, Red Lobster Biscuit Mix, freezing left over veggies, butter paper to grease pan, .... all great tips (yes, I take notes during your videos!).
Thank YOU so much for this comment, it really blesses my heart to hear that these little things are helpful. I appreciate you watching and your kind words.
I make casseroles a lot in the winter, and all three of these are added to my list. I am trying to fight the urge to start my Christmas decorating next weekend. I know it's way too early, and I would have to not use my Thanksgiving decor this year, but the struggle is real..lol. I love Christmas decor so much, and only enjoying it for a month is just not long enough. I am going to try to concentrate on some new recipes like these and keep my mind off of Christmas for at least a couple of weeks. I doubt I will be successful..lol. Have a great week Mel and God bless!
Thank you! These were truly some of the best new dishes I've tried in a while! And those Rice Krispie treats were out of this world! 😋 Thanks so much for being here.
I made the poppyseed chicken tonight and served it over rice. It was so good it melted in my mouth. The soup mixed perfectly with the rice. I just used the uncle Ben microwave rice pouch super easy
Mel I thank you for these! My daughter is going to law school and I always look forward to your recipes so I can double them and take some to her and my son-in-love to make sure they have comfort food during life’s stressful times. It takes the guesswork out for me on what to make and take.
This is so precious, what a sweet momma you are and believe me your daughter appreciates you! When my oldest was born my momma kept her while I worked full time and it was a 30-40 minute drive home for me. Patrick got off 30 minutes before I did and he would go pick her up and my momma would feed them both dinner with her and daddy and send me a plate home. She knew those first few months and years were hard on my heart, I wanted to be home with my baby and by the time I got home we just had an hour or two before she went to bed, this gave me back some much needed time with my little family every evening. I can just feel the love in you for your family and I just wanted you to know that what you're doing is making an eternal impact - within your own family but also who knows what plans the Lord has for your daughter and contributions she might make in the future with this law degree. Just food for thought, and thank you for watching and letting me know that I'm being just a small part of helping your family.
I love your recipes! I so enjoy watching you cook and listening to your instructions. You have such a great attitude, too! You have a great soothing voice. Thanks so much for all your recipes you share.
I should NOT have watched till the end! 😂😂 The marshmallow pull on those krispie treats looked amazing!! Can’t wait to try these casseroles - and especially love how you show options for just 2 people as we are also empty nesters for most meals. Thanks!!!
Happy Sunday Evening, Mel! Again, you hit it out of the park with all these delicious looking casseroles and i cannot wait to try them. I have to say you had me at tortellinii! That creamy chicken/tortellini dish looks just amazing! Looking forward to trying that one this week! Have a happy Halloween week! Thank you!
I've never seen anyone make such smooth rice krispy treats. You even make stirring in the cereal look easy. I can't wait to make them. The casseroles look so good. 😊
Come to the Philly area we’ll show ya a real Philly cheesesteak lol! The casseroles look so good and easy. We have a freeze warning over here the next night or two so these look cozy. Have a good week momma Mel!
I took your advice and cooked my large chicken breast in crockpot. I shredded it and separated in Ziploc bags. So last week I took out a bag and made chicken alfredo and I also took the other half and I had enough to make chicken salad. Thanks for that great idea. I just cooked some more today to put it in the freezer to save me some steps when I get ready to prepare meals. I also got that little gadget that you use to break the chicken up. 🙆🏽♀️❤️
Hearing this makes me so happy, I love to share time saving tips along with recipes and it blesses my heart to know that this one has helped you. Thank you so much for sharing your experience trying this out and giving me your feedback and thanks so much for watching.
I have not done rice crispies anything on the stove top since I learned how to do them in the microwave LOL. Will have to try these but will be doing them in the microwave LOL Thanks Blessings and prayers
Hi Mel! As always, your videos make me smile! Thanks for the yummy ideas - I feel like I've been making the same stuff every week lately. Going to try a couple of these for sure. Hope you and your family have a blessed Sunday :)
Mel, thank you for being you, and for sharing your recipes with us. I love casseroles and am eager to try all three of todays recipes. No rice crispy treats for me , it's that texture thing! I am a relatively new subscriber and I am already looking forward to each weeks video. Hope you have a great week.
I waited all day for my Sunday wind down watching Mama Mel, and today's episode didn't disappoint! Between that poppy seed chicken which looks way better than most versions I've seen, and the churro crispy treats, I want to go make something to eat right now😂 Thank you so much !
You're the best! Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement - I hope you get to enjoy all of these recipes this fall and thank you so much for watching!
You made me laugh. I never heard anyone saying they didn’t like the way pasta looked so they didn’t eat it. That’s hilarious 😂 I’m so glad you changed your mind and brought us this delicious tortellini dish:)
I know, it's weird - it kinda looked like a little creature to me 🤣 But honey I am also SO glad I gave them a try too! Thanks for watching and have a great week 😀
My tastes change as well. I never liked cooked cabbage, tried it recently, not bad now. Same with zucchini. So, like you said, never be afraid to try different foods.
I love all your recipes, once I add mushrooms-haha! You've made such a difference in how I feel toward cooking and feeding my family. You have created an amazing ministry.
For rice crispy treats, I always double the marshmallow recommendation. Sounds like you do too. I am making these tonight share with my coworkers tomorrow. Thank you for the recipe 😊
Holy macaroni!! These look insane. I am definitely trying the philly one this week with a package of the red lobster mix that I already have! Thanks Mel.
Thank you so much and PLEASE do report back to us how it tastes with the Red Lobster biscuit base. I can't wait to hear and thanks so much for watching.
I really don’t like the texture of sun dried tomatoes but your first recipe made me think I should give them another chance. So please give Philly cheesesteaks another chance because they are the best. 🙂
They have a kind of sweet-tart flavor, very strong and the oil they are packed in is full of herbs. If you get them dehydrated not in liquid you would need to rehydrate them if you're not cooking them in a liquid or casserole. I was unsure of the flavor and texture of them too before I tried them in a Tuscan Chicken casserole and one time using them and I was hooked LOL Hope this helps and thank you so much for watching.
We call your Ritz chicken casserole “Preacher Chicken” because my niece’s pastor husband brought us the recipe after a revival. We sometimes add either frozen chopped broccoli, green chiles, or water chestnuts to the chicken filling.
Those chicken casseroles look AMAZING...can't wait to try them. I'm excited to try those Rice Krispy treats even more!!! I'm not normally big on those but they looked SO good that I could almost taste them! Plus trick or treating has been postponed here for an extra day due to expected bad weather on Thursday so since I always make "special" bags ahead of time for the grandbabies (& a few others), that's a great excuse for me to try them 😂. I don't comment very often but I truly appreciate every single video you do. I know it's a LOT of work. I haven't tried anything from this channel yet that I didn't like 💖. So, again, thank you & blessings to you & yours 🙏.
Thank YOU! You have no idea what your kind words mean to me, I love sharing recipes here and just "visiting" with you and I love when I hear that you and your family are enjoying the recipes. It does take a bit of work but I have learned so much by posting on UA-cam and you taking the time to watch every week, even the sponsored videos, LOL, has allowed me to leave my part time job and focus on UA-cam and building this community and business for my retirement years full time and I never take that for granted. You and the others in our community have given me a purpose for the second half of my life when I was feeling very much not needed or useful for much any more, so I THANK YOU again from the bottom of my heart!
Great video and recipes. I love Philly Cheese Steaks and will have to try the casserole! ❤ The chicken casserole with the azing topping had be drooling! 😂
I feel like if you do not like tortellini you could sub ravioli but I am deff going to try it. TFS! great video as always ...p.s. I got turned on to the "chicken in a box" as my husband calls it when we were over the road truck driving. I can drive a lotta miles knowing I have a box of chicken some salad and ranch dressing in the fridge. And it makes great tortilla roll ups too
I saw this video a couple days ago so I bought peppers to make the Philly cheese steak casserole. My husband is not a big cornbread fan, could I use biscuit mix instead?
Bisquick biscuit mix was what I used 🤣 knowing me I probably said cornmeal mix by accident. So he should be really happy, hope you guys love it and thanks so much for watching 😊
I put extra marshmallows in my Rice Krispies treats as well. No one in our family makes them as good as Aunt Dana! Thats what they say. I don’t like ‘em hard and dry. I like ‘em soft and gooey. I keep saying I’m going to make chocolate peanut butter RK treats. Those look delicious too! Im going to try the Philly cheese steak casserole, that look yummy! We have a O’Charley’s too, I don’t like it, their meat taste funny. I don’t like steak cut like that because it usually has fat in it. Yucky!! Thanks for sharing the casseroles with us, I love your videos!
This Tortellini Casserole looks amazing, but would you suggest a different seasoning than Italian? Or, what about just adding more basil, and omitting any spice? Would it be too bland? Sorry for the questions, but I really want to make this recipe. Thanks !
Oh those are perfect changes, you will get so much of the flavor from the sundried tomatoes that these little tweaks will not take away anything from the taste, the fresh basil would make it perfect 😋 I hope you love it! Please let me know, and thanks for watching 😊
Hello Mrs.Alma, How are y'all doing? We are doing well. I'm drolling too,I love to see Mama Mel cook.We celebrated Oscar and my neice 's birthday yesterday, we went out of town to a good seafood restaurant. They enjoyed themselves. Oscar said to tell y'all hello. We are sending continued prayers to you and your family. Ya'll be blessed and enjoy y'alls night and upcoming week. ❤❤❤
@@lulamcrae2851 hey Lula and Oscar. We're doing good, just relaxing. We had a busy day at church. Happy birthday to her. We're continuing to pray for y'all. Have a Beautiful and Blessed evening and week ahead.

@marylawman8603 hey sweet friend. We've been having some warm weather. I love the cooler weather. I did. We celebrated our pastors today. Thank you for the continued prayers. I can feel them.
Oh Mel, I just have to kid you about saying your mother loves the Philly cheese”cake” sandwich. I need to find where they sell those ! And I just love your chuckle! ❤
my mind is crazy sometimes LOL And I just got notified of you reformation video - I can't wait to watch that later today and I want to share something with you that my daughter's church started on reformation Sunday that I think you would love, too. I will share it in a comment on that video.
For the sun dried tomato dish, I have julienne cut sun dried tomatoes in a pouch. Can I use these in that recipe? The pack says extra moist, ready to eat. I’m like you, I do not like the stringy meat in a Philly cheesesteak sandwich so I am anxious to try your casserole.
Oh HONEY! YES! This is the most loved and most delicious crockpot pork chop recipe on my channel, hope you enjoy it too and thanks so much for watching. ua-cam.com/video/159bkLgUtew/v-deo.htmlsi=auYDm72zlRIKqRLc

I always use a spatula to get everything out of any container, bowl, jar. I hate to waste food!

cool
"Because...we like em greasy" 😂 don't know why that made me laugh. Everything looks so yummy!
😁LOL
You should try
SEASONED GREEN BEANS!!!
They are like the old time canned green beans. Can't go wrong. Walmart sells them
Between you and Sammi, you’ve got me and @MrsAlmaTrumble drooling!!🤣
We better break out the bibs. Lol.
@@MrsAlmaTrumble 🤣🤣
🤣 I can't say enough how delicious these were! Thanks for watching!
🤣 You're so funny!
Try brown butter Krispy treats
I've never had sun dried tomatoes, curious to the flavor? Thanks so much ❤
They have a kind of sweet-tart flavor, very strong and the oil they are packed in is full of herbs.
Yummy!
Hope you enjoy these 😊
It all sounds delicious ❤️🎃
Can’t wait to try the Philly cheesesteak casserole! Great video!😊
Yay! Thank you!
Yes please 😊❤ I'm hungry 😊❤
I do a similar recipe with shrimp.
Yum!
Have you tried Rice Krispie Treats in the oven?
I’ll have to try the churro rice crispy treats 😊
They are delish! They're so good it will be hard to save any for the grand kids lol.
@ lol - you know those grands are never too far from my mind 🥰 they love rice crispy treats too so I know these will be a hit! Thanks, Mel!
It always looks so good. Try the cereal treats with Cinnamon Toast Crunch sometime, too. So good.
Sounds wonderful, I will have to try them next.
And it makes great tortilla roll ups too
Can I just say.... yummy 😋 😋 😋 😋
Thank you 😋Hope you enjoy making them soon!
@@InTheKitchenWithMommaMel Thank you!
You need to come closer to Philadelphia. No stringy beef on our cheesesteaks Just delicious. One of my favorite sandwiches!!
That would be awesome, and I truly believe I have not had the best experience around here for exactly that reason - I'm not getting the real deal!
Please excuse me as I drool and I'm not even 5 minutes into the video.

🤣 hey Mrs Alma, I have to say, these were delicious 😋 Thanks for watching and hope you have a blessed week friend 😊
Oh Mel, I just have to kid you about saying your mother loves the Philly cheese”cake” sandwich. I need to find where they sell those ! And I just love your chuckle! ❤
Same here - a cheesecake sandwich would probably be tasty but I got a chuckle too😂
me too LOL I swear sometimes I just can't say anything right!
my mind is crazy sometimes LOL And I just got notified of you reformation video - I can't wait to watch that later today and I want to share something with you that my daughter's church started on reformation Sunday that I think you would love, too. I will share it in a comment on that video.
I’m still waiting for cooler weather! 93 today in Austin…🥵🤣
Honey, I hope it comes soon for you, we had a little cooler today 😊
For the sun dried tomato dish, I have julienne cut sun dried tomatoes in a pouch. Can I use these in that recipe? The pack says extra moist, ready to eat. I’m like you, I do not like the stringy meat in a Philly cheesesteak sandwich so I am anxious to try your casserole.
Those will work great in this dish, hope you enjoy it!
Can you use basil in any dish that a person makes?
I don't see why not. It's definitely a great flavor addition to any "Italian" dish.
Watching you from Delaware.
Hello, I bet you are seeing some beautiful colors there! Thanks so much for watching!
Had to giggle when you mentioned "Cheesecake Sandwich" twice. Not sure I've ever heard of those before... 😆
😅 I was wondering if you have any good recipes for pork chops made in the crock pot
Oh HONEY! YES! This is the most loved and most delicious crockpot pork chop recipe on my channel, hope you enjoy it too and thanks so much for watching. ua-cam.com/video/159bkLgUtew/v-deo.htmlsi=auYDm72zlRIKqRLc
