I only skipped through this for now, but it's already what I was hoping for. Thank you for showing that texture/silk can be spun so thin. I feel like I'm constantly seeing these types of batts spun into art style yarn, but thank you for that swatch toward the end and showing off those lovely fingerless gloves. Will come back to this when I can watch all the way through, thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that the video is meeting your expectations. I hope you enjoy the full content when you get the chance to watch it!
Those colors are beautiful together! Wow! I didn't think it would come out looking the way that it does, but I've never seen anything like it. Just beautiful! :)
I love the bobble hat colours - but I do like a nice purple, especially with a little teal. The fingerless mitts look good, too, and, of course, the recycled sari silk and wool spin looks really good knitted up. I enjoy seeing other people's spinning because different spinners have different styles and it just makes life more interesting.
Hi Becca, just found your podcast, and I am loving your content. Thank you for sharing your skill! I love, love, love how that blend with the sari silk came out. I might have to save up for a blending board now! I am 100% a spindle spinner, and spin everything on my lovely Turkish spindles. I started during Covid with a breed study and have never stopped. Spinning is so addictive!
Hi Ailien, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment on my video. I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos I make. My blending board is homemade using scrap wood and a replacement carding cloth for an Ashford drum carder which did cut down the cost a bit. Turkish spindles are so lovely., it is such a long time since I did any spindle spinning. I think it's time I revised it.
This was the bomb! When you said "I will be spinning this batt from this end". I said outloud "REALLY"!!! haha! This was very good and I enjoyed this class immensely.
Thank you for following me and taking the time to comment 🙏. I'm so glad you enjoyed the demo. I will be adding more demos as the weeks go on . I'm currently taking part in Vlogmas but normal service will resume in the new year 🎊

That purple from the last spin is knitting up a real treat, I'm getting scared to see a new video from you, its getting expensive, I'm expanding my stash after each video!!! Now I need to put recycled sari silk onto my radar! The end result from the silk bat once spun up is quite remarkable, it seemed to be mostly made of silk with the tinyest of wool sandwich layers, yet the grey in the knitted up swatch is quite striking in how strong it is!
So glad I’m not the only one who uses paper clips as a stitch marker!😂 The only issue with them is if you’re a lace knitter (I am): they tend to get tangled in the lace stitches. In that case, round jewellery rings (for making your own jewellery) in various sizes depending on how loose the lacework is, work better. As long as they don’t slip underneath the stitches or gets tangled, anything works really. I was wondering if recycled sari silk works for lace weight yarn as long as it.s blended with enough wool? I’d need to put a blending board and some sari silk on my wish list for Christmas and my birthday (January) though…
Haha, who knew paper clips could be so versatile? They definitely have a way of finding themselves in the most unexpected places! I know a knitter who uses her daughter's loom bands for lacework, I think sari silk yarn would work for lace you could definitely spin it much finner than I did.
@@bybeccalewis - When my daughter got her braces removed I “annexed” the unused bands to use as markers for lacework. Loom bands would definitely work too! I’m putting recycled sari silk and a blending board on my wish list now! If they don’t already, my family definitely is going to think I’ve gone round the bend… 🤣

You should! It's great fun to work with.

Did you ply with anything? Love the knitted pieces.
I span two singles the same and made a two ply .
