Blueberry looked so cute on the outside! Being within 30 minutes of a big city is very convenient (personal experience). The other house you showed 2+ hours out was cute, too! You will find just the right one for you! I believe when things fall through, it just paves the way for something better. Thanks for sharing the search with us! Excited about seeing more with you. Love and prayers from SC, Jane

As a Canadian who lives in winter almost 5 months of the year, I would tell you to think really good before moving there. Winter is magical when you’re in it a few days a year but when you live in it for the whole season… it’s another story. You guys leave for long periods of time for your wonderful travels, we’ll your house can’t be left alone in winter! Frozen pipes, roof, deck, driveway to shovel…. And winter is expensive! Heating, winter tires, winter clothes… it’s a whole other ball game folks. And the cold gets to you after a while. We actually run away from it every chance we get to go on vacation in the sun 🥶
Food for thought so you can make a clear decision! Love your channel! Keep up the great work! Good luck with your house hunting! 😊

Colorado native here. I’ve lived in the mountains for years. Location is key! Keep in mind your driveway, sun exposure, commute, neighbors, grocery store, etc. so often people want to live in the mountains and don’t realize the time and work it takes to live there.Evergreen (lived there for years) doesn’t count as true mountain living. VERY expensive

When you do find the house you're really happy with. It would be well worth the money to have it professionally inspected, the drainfield, well, and complete structure. Don't forget to check on property taxes cost also.

Boulder Colorado, Mork and Mindy! If it's a cash deal only the sellers wants it's because he knows a purchaser will not be able to get a mortgage on it. That should set alarm bells ringing and warrant a full survey to be carried out by a professional Surveyor.

On a cross country trip, my wife and I fell in love with Durango CO- we arrived on a bluebird Rocky Mountain day, put the top down in our car and drove into town to the historic narrow gauge railroad where there was a concert with several cowboy bands. I'm excited you're house hunting! I'm not sure how much plane travel you plan on doing after you buy a house, but if it is going to continue at a similar pace, you might put extra consideration on the route to the Denver airport as part of your house location factors. I just know it can be very hard for my relatives who live in the Denver suburbs to get to the airport, and the more you go into the mountains, the greater the risk of snow, wildfires, smoke, or traffic blocking your ability to get to there within a predictable time, or at all.

After living in Colorado for several years, I've come to believe that many of these small mountain towns are... Not great. The ones that are better of course come with a pretty price tag. You have to consider internet access and things too. Mountain homes are much more work than people realize, and that's probably why lots of these remain on the market for so long.

It took me 2 years with also taking a break from in that time I looked at 16 houses. All of them were foreclosure took the last house less amount of work and I got to move in and fix it as I go. Not bad at all and was in my budget. It’s my first and last home. It’s so peaceful I live 10 miles south of Bloomington Indiana

I would highly recommend taking the trip way south to the Durango/Silverton/telluride/Ouray area and looking for places down there. Prices are a little cheaper, there’s major flights in and out of la plata regional airport, and the recreational opportunities are second to none. Of course I am biased because I lived there for six years lol.

I think it's a good idea to spend some time in an area to see what's on offer with properties, and get a feel for the local area with towns etc. I liked the blue and red place, but it is a good idea to look around more. Won't you have a need for a garage with all your vehicles and RVs? I always shy from the exposed wood that looks raw; how much yearly maintenance does it need? What is the insulation situation? Never let paint or carpets affect your decision; they are cheap and easy to change. Have you gotten a prepared checklist to go over on each house, some are online; makes sure you don't miss anything and helps when referencing back later. (probably all too late for you to use)

Go check as many areas as possible. You get to know the neighborhood and if you would be interested in living there or not, look at the neighbors as well, because in case of emergency they are the closest and they can "bail" you out (fire, flood, issues with plumbing that you cannot deal with but others are handier then you, medical emergency, how loud/quiet they are ...etc). Check even were are not houses listed: you make a first impression about the area if you want to jump to an opportunity or totally ignore it. Bolder was ofering some money for moving in, make a question at the city hall if is still available

The idea of living in the mountains is so invigorating. But, from someone who's lived in the colorado mountains for several years, you really need to do research and be prepared to be self-sufficient. Plumbers, electricians, chimney sweeps, and Septic companies are all extremely hard to come by. Be prepared! Also, many mountain counties recently voted to not allow short-term rentals in their areas. So know the local regulations before buying!! Things are getting more restrictive because so many people want to buy and then rent out, and communities want long-term residents, not vacationers, because of the increased risk for wild fires caused by "out of towners".

I was so excited about that A-frame house, so I totally get why you were bummed! House hunting is like riding a roller coaster, so pace yourself and try to contain your excitement, until papers are in hand. Also make sure that you have one or two inspectors check the house and land before you purchase.

I live in that mountain community that you started your house hunt in. And you are right when you said it has everything you need and it's a huge bonus being close to town (Boulder and Denver is close), yet far enough for peace. Enjoy your search... there is a lot of great little communities in the mountains. I too am an expert real estate viewer from a computer screen 🤣... so if you have any questions on different areas, I'm sure I've studied them extensively.

Location, location, location. It's saying for a reason. And remember 1) the drive in and out is important too...make it scenic. MOST IMPT: Check and see if there are gas lines, power companies planning things in the area, check town hall to see who is planning what around the property (why are they selling?) I once loved a house only to find out the town was fighting a huge gas compressor station that would have been 1 mile away (in what they called the "incineration zone" should there be an accident.) Checking what is happening around the land, is just as important as the land/house itself.

Great episode. If I was your age I'd be doing exactly the same thing. I attended a wedding in Vail some years ago and used the trip to explore the adjacent mountains and towns. Fabulous. Telluride looked like a film set. A van-lifer called Regretlyss has bought a country property in one of the areas you're considering. Might be worth having a look at her recent videos. If you intend to keep Clementine make sure there's room around the cabin to build a shelter for her (and Chuck and Ruby, and uncle Tom Cobley, & the Beans' bus, etc, etc). In fact an aircraft hanger with a cabin on the side would be just perfect. Blueberry's colours looked fine to me!

I live in Canon City, and it's a pretty cute town. We are in the banana belt, we don't get as much snow. I would recommend checking out the little towns of Buena Vista and Salida. Thank you for being such a positive watch!

I've lived in Nederland for 20 years and know all the places you visited. Great disc golf course right near the first tiny one.
The cute blue one I have friends that lived in that 'town' for a decade all the way up there. Evergreen is busy but great.
    Hopefully I see you around!
    Good luck hunting 👍

Wow! Amazing beautiful scenery in Colorado! Whatever you end up doing, the views around are so spectacular! This next project is just as exciting as doing up Clementine! Great having a ‘stay’ between travels too! Just love your episodes, especially from here in Aussieland! So impressive!

I lived in a metal mobile home and the trim was painted brown which fooled this Woodpecker, who just wouldn't stop pecking!! Kinda funny in a way. Mike

Definitely find a place between Boulder and Estes park. You’ll get a lot of renters. Or even check out estes park for a cabin, gets busy there pretty much all year.

I started watching you about 3 years ago? Back when you did a joint video with Kara and Nate and another couple (who aren't together anymore). It is so awesome to see you doing so well with the channel and making plans for your future. Congratulations! I'm sure there were unknowns and ups/downs. Congratulations for taking it this far!

"We've never looked at a house in person." Sometimes I go to house inspections just for fun! Haha. And research purposes. When I house hunted myself, it took two years of going almost every weekend until we found something.

You're teaching me how to fish with that impromptu cutting board. Also good luck on your search. Life is the true adventure

I hope you can buy a lamb and make your own kind of music. Lighting and full sun in the morning is so awakening.

After seeing all the work y’all did on Clementine, we have no doubt that you’ll be able to do amazing things with any of these properties. It’ll be so nice to be by your brother, too. I agree with the caution comment of buying on the mountains though, after seeing Trent pull many vehicles out of their mountain road in Utah. Be careful!
