I first heard of the MC5 when a friend played Kick Out The Jams for me, but I really got into them when The Damned covered Looking At You

Christmas already? Stooges and now Brother Wayne and the 5. Absolutely amazing! You're playing is unbelievably good. This video is far from pointless, au contraire!
I was fortunate enough to actually meet Wayne Kramer in person back in 1996. He was touring his second solo album on Epitaph (Dangerous Madness) and playing in Bochum/Germany to an audience of 10 people. I was working for a German Music TV station and did an interview with him before the show. He was such a nice down to earth dude with a working man's attitude. And he played a fantastic show despite the small number of listeners. Great memories! Saw him again on the MC50 tour, great show man.
If you could look at songs from the fantastic "Hard Stuff" (1994) or "Dangerous Madness (1996) LPs I would be more than thrilled.
    Every Friday is Adrian day!

Big influence on the Damned too, as they did a great cover on their third album.

I have all the MC5 albums, and Back in the USA is my favorite. Thanks for this fantastic lesson. More MC5. I agree with mikequinlivan below, a breakdown of Fred Smith's City Slang would be fantastic punk-garage lesson. Best wishes.

Say, I love almost everything you show how to play here, Sir!!! Building off of the MC5’s, Fred “Sonic” Smiths “Sonic Rendezvous Band had an incredible song called City Slang. That would be an awesome walkthrough as well. It’s pretty basic, but lots of little intricacies. Much love!

I spent aaaages trying to work this out when I was a lot younger. Never got those fiddly bits but I'll go give it another try. Might need an empty house!

Man-you really need to do Love and Rockets’ Holiday on the Moon. You’d love it, I suspect, and it’s a good simple lesson. Plus-one of the coolest intro riffs ever. And though I’m sure I’m the only one who will ever request it, I’m still gonna keep requesting. Please, please, please? 😊

Great lesson ! Have you done a The Damned lesson yet? I would like to request Channel 7 Plan 9 perhaps with heavy use of Wah pedal. Please and Thank You. Although any Damned will do. At their live shows Captain Sensible is a hellaciously savory on the Wah.

Excellent! You should copy out your demos to separate videos as they are excellent covers. For me when i want to learn a tune I watch and listen to loads of covers rather than the original. Particularly if their done on an acoustic. Hearing all those variations helps a lot...
