Corey I can’t thank you enough for sharing your knowledge. I’m new to learning the guitar. Trying to learn from UA-cam. I’m 61. And can’t afford lessons due to my daughter having cancer. This is a way for me to concentrate on something other than cancer. I’m not understanding scales and lead guitar yet. But I’m trying. Thanks again
Awesome lesson Corey! I’ve been playing for over 50 years and I’m still working on improving my vibrato. I think a lesson on raking the strings would be cool.
Just stumbled upon your channel... watched a gazillion guitar youtubers before. How have I never seen you before? Sensational playing and teaching. Super chill personality and top notch video and sound quality. You deserve a million subs dude. Instant sub.
Thanks Corey this is so great. Never seen one show us this like you do. Please do more of this, expanding it further it would be great. Thanks again 👍👏
Finally. A guitar teacher with the superb ability to teach this objectively. Well done. Can't wait to practice this method. Most other teachers are still assuming that we guitar laymen know certain things already...nope, haha we don't. You've shown the details. Much needed details. Thank you.
Thanks Corey! another good tip to go back and make sure I’m practicing. love how you frame it “to get the guitar to speak a little more”. vibrato and its ties to phrasing to make the instrument sound more vocal and relatable to the listener, is something I’m constantly thinking about and trying to find ways to practice. Love the lessons thanks for sharing!
I played for many years before my vibrato matured. It was something I had never really practiced and one day it just showed up. That was the day I stopped noodling and started playing music. I dare say it was the biggest improvement that ever came into my playing style. Getting a smooth vibrato on a bent note was a bit different though and I had to work on that technique for about a year. Everyone has their own vibrato journey and different way of doing it.
Thank you so much for this. What a well taught and lovely lesson. Such a brilliant way to get a new/intermediate player used to the feel of rhythmically bending a string with each finger. Most teach pushing up to start with and I've found that so much harder than pulling down. However, once you get the sensation under your fingers it gets easier to then bend into different directions and string tensions. Great work!
What a great lesson. I've watched a bunch and it was always so hazy. I just didn't get what I'm supposed to do to make a vibrato that doesn't suck. This one drives it home for me. Thanks!
They say, those who can, do and those who can't, teach. Provably untrue. Here is someone who can play the hell out of a guitar yet can explain things concisely, without patronising and in a way that makes instant sense and improves my playing hugely. I too have been playing for a long time but still struggle to get vibrato cleanly on the bent note at the end of a run of notes. Maybe my hand is out of position, Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the lessons. Every one has helped my playing
Fantastic, at last a great player approaching the art of 'Dynamics' in guitaring, so important!! Thank You. Never seen vibrato explained so well. This and also 'Phrasing' is an art you dont hear about much these days but so so important. Subbed
Just what I was looking for at this stage of my guitar journey but wasn´t exactly sure how to practice. I´ve seen quite a few tutorials on Vibrato but I find this one to have the most clear and precise short examples, with a bit of humour and great motivation ! I hope I can find bending w/vibrato exercises among one of your videos. P.S. My guitar playing level has stepped up substantially since I started taking your Blues courses. Thank you sir !!
Good video.. I have been playing a really long time and finally found the technique that works for me. One of the best vibratos in the business has to be Philip Sayce who played with Jeff Healey as a mentor
Your lessens are the best I mean the absolute best I have ever encountered in person or on vid , I would ask tho , would you please make a video about the sliding to notes you do and the sliding on and around the blue notes and thank you very much for your inspiration
Merci beaucoup Corey and happy new year from France. It's a great pleasure to see your video and listening your music . I like your approach and i learn a lot with you. Gratitude🙏🙏🙏
Interesting your teaching the pulling Down technique, and earlier today I watched another player who favors an up style of vibrato, opposite direction still yield the same result. Push up as you mentioned. I guess one should try both, maybe one or other will kick better than others. I used to get it practicing to records, and imitating what is being done. That side to side vibrato is used quite a bit with Jazz players, and others as well. You showed it at the start of the lesson, staying within the fret. I am still trying to rehab. my Left hand, will need to try all these, and see what is workin these days.
Corey, thanks so much for giving your time, we truly appreciate it! There is very little info out there about ending blues tunes in a jam sort of environment. I have a basic understanding of where the ending needs to fall rhythmically, but I always get pretty nervous when I'm leading the band and need to end the song. A lesson addressing this critical moment in a performance would be invaluable. Maybe talk about some go to licks you like to use, or how to come up with your own endings that fit, what to expect from the rhythm section etc... Keep up the great work.
Happy New Year Corey, thank you for the tip and congrats for 20K. Yeah, that's my vibrato technique at 4:31. I'll work on the proper technique as you've described. I've refrained from this proper technique because of the difficulty tackling the two e strings. So I'll work on the middle strings as I'm close and just need to "relax it back", and look forward to e strings tips. SS.
Loved it think I finally get it! Been playing for years but my vibrato always sucked and sounded 'nervous' Now it sounds sweet Funny when I try to do my old crappy vibrato now, I can't get it to sound so bad again Feels so good!
Awesome lesson Corey! You really cleared up what I have been doing wrong! Best lesson on this technique I have seen cannot wait to get my guitar in my hands and practice
Thank you for your video on vibrato. I have been doing vibrato by pulling down the string and releasing because I broke my wrist a year ago and it’s hard to pivot my hand like you do but I’m gonna try to work on that and see if I might be able to do it that way.
Corey, really enjoy all your content, please don't stop. I was hoping you would spend more time on bending Up, (towards the ceiling), and adding vibrato. This is a problem for me. Maybe your next video??? Thanks!!!
I really dig your channel, and you deserve way more than 32 subs IMO. I play multiple instruments by ear. Bass and drums are my home, but I love the guitar for it's initial Dunning Kruger affect and subsequent ability to frequently humble me as a musician. Vibrato is definitely an area of improvement I've been seeking. Thank you!
I'd love to see a video discussing how to avoid sounding repetitive over a long improv session, or how to adapt your sound to various music styles. Love the channel man, best find I've had in a while on here. Respectfully, from Key West
Thank you so much Corey for this lesson. Vibrato is something I really struggle with. Now I got the idea. You are awesome! All the best for you and Happy New Year my friend.
Thank you very much, watched a dozen videos. They weren't wrong or anything, it's just the way you described it. I'm already a lot more comfortable doing vibrato, feels more natural.
Hey Corey... thanks for the lesson... as a time poor guitarist, little things to work on subconsciously while sitting on the couch etc are fantastic... I would love to check out getting done lessons from you... cheers from New Zealand
I'd love to see a lesson on how to end a blues. I own several of your truefire courses and have a good sense of rhythm, kicking tunes off, and turnarounds, but just need some creative ideas for how to end a blues that isn't cliche
Great lesson, thank you. When you say to stack your fingers, I'm confused about which finger frets the note. Do you use the finger closest to the bridge to actually fret the note and stack everything else up behind it? Like if you used three fingers to add strength, would the ring finger fret the note with the index with the other fingers stacked behind it?
Super cool video Corey! Vibrato is a truly an underestimated skill, One thing I really like in your style is the variation of speed or frequency of your vibrato. I noticed Gary Moore was doing that a lot to, depending of the song and the feel. I was hoping a part ob bended notes, since I struggle with the bended AND vribrato first notes of Stairway, or LaGrande soli. What about a level 2 lesson? Cheers, really like your content. Keep rocking on 😎🤘
Corey I can’t thank you enough for sharing your knowledge.
0:08 I thought you were gonna say “with great vibrato comes great responsibility”
Ha! Now that’s funny
Awesome lesson Corey! I’ve been playing for over 50 years and I’m still working on improving my vibrato. I think a lesson on raking the strings would be cool.
Yes, I've heard the term "raking". But, not sure what it is. My guess is the pick attacks at a certain angle a set of muted strings fairly hard.
Just stumbled upon your channel... watched a gazillion guitar youtubers before. How have I never seen you before? Sensational playing and teaching. Super chill personality and top notch video and sound quality. You deserve a million subs dude. Instant sub.
Appreciate that!
Thanks Corey this is so great. Never seen one show us this like you do. Please do more of this, expanding it further it would be great. Thanks again
👍👏
Thank you very much for the lesson. Yes, I could not figure out how to do vibrato like BB King batterfly, and you explain it in a very clear way.
Finally. A guitar teacher with the superb ability to teach this objectively. Well done. Can't wait to practice this method. Most other teachers are still assuming that we guitar laymen know certain things already...nope, haha we don't. You've shown the details. Much needed details. Thank you.
Love this teacher! His 50 blues rhythm course’s awesome!
Thanks, Corey. Great video, as always. Would love to see a follow up lesson on vibrato while bending a string. It's something I really struggle with
Thanks Corey! another good tip to go back and make sure I’m practicing. love how you frame it “to get the guitar to speak a little more”. vibrato and its ties to phrasing to make the instrument sound more vocal and relatable to the listener, is something I’m constantly thinking about and trying to find ways to practice. Thank you. I have watched many vibrato lessons and yours was top notch and now i finally understood what I need to work on to improve 🤘💜
I have always struggled with my vibrato and your explanation makes so much sense! Thanks Corey for the great content as always!
You are a great player and teacher! Great video! Congrats on the 20,000!
Thank you, Corey. I'll be practicing. 😊
Great! Thank you!

Congratulations on the 20k, you deserve more subs man! Thanks for the amazing lesson again!
Love the humbuckings installed on that wraptail SG!! Thanks!!
You bet!
This is the only video I found helpful to understand the wrist movement while doing vibrato. Thank you!
Appreciate that
Nice video, Corey! I’m gonna have some fun trying this
Best guitar lessons on UA-cam. Thoroughly answers all the questions we have in a concise manner. Thank you!
Wow, thanks so much!
Great video on vibrato! I like to practice changing the speed of the vibrato with the tempo of the song...using quarters, eighths & sixteenths etc
One of the best tutors on the net. Like your teaching style very much and it all makes so much sense to me
Wow, thanks!
Love your playing 👌 i could happily vibe to that all day 😂
Thank you very much..... an instant breakthrough! Just found your channel and I'm glad I did..
Glad it was helpful!
The lick riff at .50 is so funky! Would love a lesson on that style! Awesome!
wow what a great lesson. i've played guitar for 30 years and been working on correcting some bad habits. Thanks for this. I need a better vibrato.
Thanks Corey, that was an great explanation on vibrato.
You are one Great Guitar player love your videos all the best to you .
Great lesson, best vibrato lesson I found on UTube
Hey, thanks Jim!

Thanks a lot Corey! Great tips that really help!!
Thank you! Very informative!
You're welcome!

You are welcome
This is a great lesson. Thank you Corey. Fantastic as always.
nice. easy to understand.
This is the first video I've actually really understood. Also absolutely loved your playing! Subscribed.
Wow. I appreciate that!
Good stuff Corey, as always...

never really thought about this, but excellent lesson for sure, thanks Corey. Well done and well said.....
A lesson on raking and practice techniques would be killer!
For sure!

@@coreycongilio That would be great! Thanks for responding.
You are one hell of a player Corey. Appreciate all the time and effort you put into these videos.
Many thanks! Glad you enjoy!
Wow- The Best Corey Is The Best- 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Congratzz on 20k subs Corey. You are an incredible teacher.Thanku for the awesome content🙏🙏🙏
I’d love to see a lesson on wide vibrato. Like “full step/base note” kinda stuff.
Happy New Year Corey, thank you for the tip and congrats for 20K. Yeah, that's my vibrato technique at 4:31. I'll work on the proper technique as you've described. This is for sure one of the best videos I've seen on the topic! And if it's ok to ask, maybe you could do one on time feel?
Great suggestion!

3:15 Lesson starts here, you're welcome :)
I was just about to write the same thing…😂
What pickup do you use in that strat neck position? Sounds awesome
Awesome
